Lance Cade's Father Responds To Linda McMahon's Comments, Says She Disrespected Him & Their Family
Written by Richard Gray on Aug 26, 2010 - 10:51:21 AM
The Day out of Connecticut has an article now online featuring quotes from Harley McNaught, the father of the late Lance Cade. In the piece, he responds to Linda McMahon's comments and attacks the WWE Wellness Policy. Below are the highlights:
Regarding Linda McMahon's claim that she may have only met Cade once: "I've been with him [Lance Cade] on two different WWE functions where she came up to him and knew him by name,"
Her comments: "She disrespected him," McNaught said. "She disrespected my family."
Lance Cade's loyalty to McMahon: Lance "would have cut his arm off for Vince McMahon, but it wasn't there in return," his father told The Day. "He don't care any more than the man in the moon for them, other than as dollar signs."

Richard Reacts: Linda McMahon's comments were distasteful... there's no question. However, I get irritated when people try to place the blame 100% on Vince McMahon or anyone else. I hate to say something about someone dead but those close to Lance Cade know he had more than a couple of bad habits. If someone uses street drugs, steroids, etc. it's THEIR CHOICE. Why is it in our society today no one wants to take responsibility for THEIR CHOICES? It seems like we all want to deflect blame onto someone else rather than take responsibility for one's own actions. This whole argument that "if I didn't take steroids I would have been cut" is a false claim. Vince McMahon doesn't force people to become professional wrestlers. If you think you have to do something harmful to your health to make it in the wrestling business than pick another profession. Love McMahon or hate him, he didn't kill anyone. Critics who hate McMahon because they hate big business can disagree all they want, but the fact of the matter is the people making their decisions have to face the consequences of their actions. I don't want to sound like I'm a mark for McMahon either. The man can't stand me, this website, etc. Without choosing a political party, it scares me to think of a McMahon in Washington. However, from a completely objective point-of-view, I can't sit here and watch the blame game take place when someone made the decision to do what they did. When you find out that McMahon has a back room at WWE events where he straps talent down and injects them, we can talk then. As long as someone does something under their own freewill, it's nobody's fault but their own.
