Written by Brooks Oglesby on Mar 1, 2011 - 10:53:35 PM

WWE NXT Results - 3/1/2011

-We get a nice package of all 6 rookies and their highlights on the show. Then we see the rookies get eliminated in order: Jacob Novak, Conor O'Brian, Byron Saxton, and Derrick Bateman. There is also a short recap of the feud between Johnny Curtis and Brodus Clay, which has been going on since the first weeks of NXT.

-The opening video rolls and Josh Mathews and Todd Grisham welcome us to the season finale of WWE NXT, coming to us from Cleveland, Ohio!

-Matt Striker is in the ring, who welcomes us as well. The pros come out to the stage. Daniel Bryan comes out to a nice pop. Chris Masters out next to a mild pop. Maryse out next with a mild pop as well. R-Truth comes out and dances for a pop. He has a mic. R-Truth says he wants to introduce the winning rookie: Johnny Curtis. Curtis comes out to Truth's music, and gets a nice pop. Good crowd. Truth sings "What's Up?" along with his theme as he and Curtis go the the ring. Ricardo Rodriguez comes out next with a mic. He introduces Brodus Clay in Spanish, and he comes out looking intense. They walk slowly to the ring as Brodus and Curtis stare each other down.

-Both rookies are standing in front of each other in the middle of the ring. Their pros are behind them. Striker reminds them of what they've worked for. He asks Curtis why the WWE Universe should support him. "I'm not gonna verbally bash you, Brodus Clay. This is more than a debate. Since day 1, you've thrown me through the announce table. You've tried to take away my dream. I've fought my entire life. And I'm gonna fight you. I'm gonna knock your teeth down your throat." Brodus responds, and he says that yeah, he did all those things, and there's not a thing Curtis can do about it. He gets cheap heat by saying that he doesn't care what the losers in Cleveland think. Like LeBron James, he's leaving Cleveland a winner. Big heat for Brodus there. And just like that, Striker makes this a match between the two rookies.

Match #1: Johnny Curtis vs. Brodus Clay

-Brodus pushes Curtis out of the ring with ease. Curtis gets up on the apron and fights Brodus to the turnbuckle with some punches. Curtis gets in the ring, hits the ropes, and tries to get Brodus with a crossbody, but Brodus catches him. Brodus grabs Curtis' throat and throws him into the corner. Curtis gets up the to the top rope and tries for a big axe handle, but Brodus hits him in the throat.

-Brodus has Curtis grounded with a neck pinch. Curtis fights to his feet and hits the ropes. Brodus bulldozes him with a shoulder block, however. Curtis is up, and Brodus hits his leg capture suplex. He goes for a pin and gets a two count. Brodus goes back to the neck pinch before Curtis can get to his feet. Truth starts a clap from the apron as the WWE Universe gets behind Curtis. He gets to his feet and catches Brodus with a jawbreaker. Brodus clubs his back and puts Curtis into the turnbuckle. Brodus backs up, taunts, charges at Curtis, who evades him at the last minute. Curtis is fired up, throwing wild strikes at Brodus. He dropkicks Brodus' knee, which takes him down. Curtis goes the to the top rope, but Brodus gets up and tosses him from atop the turnbuckle. Brodus runs the ropes and hits a splash for the 3 count.

Winner: Brodus Clay

-Truth gets into the ring, looking like he's about to fight Brodus Clay. Meanwhile, Ricardo Rodriguez announces Clay as the winner in Spanish. Brodus taunts and smiles for the cameras.

-Cleveland is Bateman's hometown, which the announcers remind us of. Because of this we get a vignette of Bateman and his pro from earlier tonight. Bryan and Bateman are backstage. Bateman says that he thought his shenanigans were great. He says that he's felt heartbreak before. Bryan said no, he said last week, that if Bateman lost, Bryan would punch him in the face. Bryan holds up a fist while Bateman says "You can't be serious." He bends down, and puts on a pair of glasses. As he gets up, he says "You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses." Bryan punches him in the face. He says to listen. He has an NXT Reunion tag match tonight to get ready for.

-As has been the case the last few weeks, we get The Rock's entire promo from Raw.

Match #2: NXT Reunion Match - Conor O'Brian and Derrick Bateman vs. Jacob Novak and Byron Saxton

-Bateman and Novak start. Bateman gets a quick dropkick, and hits some chest chops. Conor tags in, and wrenches Novak's arm. He applies a wristlock, which Nova fights out of. He pushes conor into the corner, and Byron tags in. Conor quickly takes control with a face stomp and an innovative neckbreaker. Byron quickly forces Conor back into their corner, and Novak gets a cheap shot while the ref pushes Byron away from the corner. Novak tags in and starts hitting a few big elbow drops. Conor gets up and hits a European uppercut, but Novak kicks him into the corner and stomps a mudhole. A one-count on Conor. Novak and Byron are playing the classic heel isolation strategy. Novak applies a headlock, which Conor fights out of with a snapmare. Conor is literally crawling to the corner to get the tag to Bateman, but Byron breaks up the attempt. Bateman is fired up, and continually hits shoulder blocks. A big back suplex by Bateman. He tries to Irish whip Saxton, but gets hit by a jawbreaker. Byron goes for the tag, but Novak drops from the apron and walks to the back. Byron turns around and runs into a big dropkick from Bateman. Bateman's still fired up, and kicks Saxton in the stomach. He runs the ropes and hits a spinning neckbreaker on Saxton. He picks Saxton up, gets behind him, and rolls him forward on his head in a very innovative DDT-like maneuver. This gets the three-count and nice pop from the hometown crowd.

Winners: Derrick Bateman and Conor O'Brian

-The final elimination of WWE NXT is coming up next.

-NXT Season 5 will start next week, and according to the commentators, it's like nothing we've ever seen before.

Final Elimination

-Matt Striker and the two remaining rookies are in the ring. One of these rookies is about to go home, and one is about to be WWE's next breakout star. With that said, we go to the elimination screen.

Brodus Clay has been eliminated.

Johnny Curtis wins Season 4 of WWE NXT.

-Johnny Curtis drops to his knees and starts crying. Truth comes in to congratulate him. He goes to the top rope and poses to a big pop. Brodus broods in the far turnbuckle. Curtis embraces Truth, and Truth says "You know what, Cleveland? I want you guys to look at this man's face. Those are real tears! That's real emotion coming from within. This is what this is all about, and you did it, dog." Curtis and Truth embrace. Striker tells Curtis to tell the WWE Universe how he's feeling. Curtis says "Brodus Clay." He goes to shake Clay's hand, and Clay shakes it. They share a short embrace. Curtis says he wants to thanks his dad and his sister at home. He wants to thank the WWE Universe and his pro, R-Truth. Stiker goes to Brodus Clay to get his thoughts. Brodus says "WWE Universe. You took away my moment. I won every competition I was in. But I get it. I don't look like Curtis. I don't look like you. You took my dream away. I promise you this: You took my dream away. I'm gonna take your heroes away. I will not stop, and let this be known. You broke my heart, WWE Universe, and I'm not gonna stop until I break yours. And you do know that." Brodus leaves the ring to huge heat. Curtis and Truth are reminded that they now have a shot at the tag titles. Striker asks for Truth's opinion. Truth says "What's up?!" as Curtis motions along with him. Curtis gets back on the turnbuckle, celebrates, and mouths "Thank you" to the WWE Universe.

-That's it for this season of WWE NXT. Season 5 starts next week, so I'll be back next week as always with your live NXT results. Thanks for reading.
