Welcome to WNW’s SummerSlam Predictions! SummerSlam will be emanating from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, for a record setting 5th year in a row. This month we have a great lineup of writers giving their predictions! Myself, Kendra Bunyon with her crazy picks, Chris Surrancy, Elto Alexandrov, and Zack Kransey are giving full predictions, while Alex Barie, Shashank Bhandari, CJ Blaze, and Jamie Welton are doing quick picks. Let’s get to it!
United States Championship Match:
Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
I’m really irked that this match is on the Preshow because the two talents involved are such high energy and incredible people. But the powers that be figured on them to put on a fire star performance so they can get a possibly stoic LA crowd fired up. Rob Van Dam’s return has been sketchy, with losses to Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton but by the same token, the Shield haven’t really done much of anything of significance since Payback. But after the promo by the Shield on Raw, I have to say that Ambrose is the only possible winner. He is trying the best he can with the faltering WWE Creative system to restore some meaning and prestige to the United States Title.
Jesse’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
It’s on the Pre-PPV show, so what? These two are going to go all out to prove that they’re more than just the warm up and that they deserve to be the main event. Beyond that, I see RVD being his normal ground and pound, hard hitting self while Ambrose hits his split legged moonsault and rolling thunder. In the end Ambrose will throw a chair at RVD and hit this Ambrose-inator from coast to coast and lose the match via DQ.
Kendra’s Predicted Winner: RVD via DQ, Ambrose Retains
This is likely going to be an amazing match, it could possibly be considered for match of the night, unfortunately it’s on the pre-show instead of being one of the main matches on the top card. Van Dam will get some serious offense in during the match, but I see Ambrose taking the win and keeping his belt. The US title is going to be his ticket to the top of the card and becoming a main eventer for years to come. With every match he works, prestige is added to the US title, this one will be no different. I see Van Dam missing a 5-Star Frog Splash with Ambrose getting to his feet and hitting his reverse DDT for the win.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Ever since returning at Money In The Bank, Rob Van Dam has put on some great matches and he has made it perfectly clear that he still has a lot left in the tank. At this point in his career, however, I like to think he is there mainly to put younger talent over, similarly to the way WWE has been booking Chris Jericho. Considering the time and effort invested in The Shield, RVD just does not seem like the right person to kill the momentum of the faction’s leader. What would a US title reign really add to Mr. Monday Night’s legacy?
Elto’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
I am pretty sure that they said this match will be the pre-show opening match which BLOWS MY MIND. Why on Earth would you give this match away for free?! I would rather watch this match than most of the other matches on the card. Dean Ambrose is such a talented worker and his style is going to blend very well with Rob Van Dam’s work in the ring. I think that my prediction is going to have to be Dean Ambrose. Rob Van Dam is, as far as I know, still on a temporary contract to feel out the travel with WWE, and until he signs a long term deal, I don’t see WWE giving him any title. I will say this, the creative staff has done a wonderful job of keeping Rob’s momentum going so that he comes off as a viable contender, even though he isn’t getting placed into main event rivalries or strapping him. I also don’t see them taking the titles off of any of the members of The Shield this early. I would say there is a chance that the other members of The Shield come in to cause the DQ, but I think this will be more of a passing of the torch match. I can’t say enough about how delightful this match is going to be to watch. With it being free there is no excuse for everyone reading this article not to watch the match.
Zack’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
CJ’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: RVD
Alex’s Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Gesus’ Predicted Winner: RVD by DQ
Total Divas Match:
Natalya vs. Brie Bella
While I am happy for Total Divas’ recent cable success, this match was completely shoehorned onto the card at the last minute. And while they have tried to develop a feud to go into this match, the ugly duckling idea was the completely wrong way to take this. With Natalya’s history of demeaning storylines, you’d think I’d be used to it by now. But sadly, it feels like no matter what she does, she will always be the go-to girl for humiliation. And if that wasn’t reason enough to not be looking forward to it, we have the debacle that occurred on Raw with the mixed tag match. And thanks to that, I see Brie Bella going over here.
Jesse’s Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Brie will be showing her serious ring skills. I’m sure she and Bryan will spend all their time focusing on her match and not at all worrying about the fact that he will be facing Cena in the main event for his biggest dream – other than marrying Brie and moving into his family home – of course! Brie will be all over Natalya in that ring, but in the end, it will be twin magic and Beth will take over for Natalya. Sadly, the blondes won’t have a chance over real twin magic and Nikki will get the win – even though it’s Brie’s match.
Kendra’s Predicted Winner: Some Bella Twin
Brie Bella wins due to Eva Marie distracting the ref and Brie hitting whatever her finish is for the victory.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
I haven’t been following Total Divas, but I guess that’s where the idea of this match came from? The most recent episode of Raw saw Natalya make Divas Champion AJ Lee submit via the Sharpshooter, so the logical conclusion would be that she is in line for a push. Yes, it is rarely about logic when it comes to the Divas division, but seriously, why put her over AJ just to make her lose to Brie several days later?
Elto’s Predicted Winner: Natalya
This match is actually fairly less hyped than I would have expected with the heavy promoting of E!’s Total Divas and how well the ratings have been doing. That said it should actually be a fairly good match. Brie Bella isn’t going deliver a 5-star Diva’s match, but she isn’t a bad worker either. I personally think that she has grown a good deal since the Bella’s first came into the business. Obviously, I don’t even really have to say anything about how tremendous a worker Natalya is, she alone will make this match worth watching. No title involved in this match, which to be honest surprises me very much. The fact WWE hasn’t strapped a Bella or one of the other Total Diva girls is a head scratcher. I have a feeling Vince will be watching the match backstage and wonder why he has his two “publicity divas” in a singles match with no title, and his Diva’s Champion in a mixed tag match. Either way, this match will be a solid one through and through. I think the win in this match is going to go to Brie Bella because she and Nikki are the faces of Total Divas. I will say that I don’t see it being a clean win, though.
Zack’s Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: Natalya
CJ’s Predicted Winner: Natalya
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Alex’s Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Gesus’ Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Tag Team Title Match:
Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns (c) vs. Big Show and Mark Henry
I know that this match isn’t on the card as of when I wrote this, but considering The Shield’s open challenge and the in ring segment on Raw, I see it happening. And while I want to favor Big Show and Henry here solely based on their size and experience factors, but the Shield have overcome so many main event talents in their path of dominance that I don’t see any reason to stop them now.
Jesse’s Predicted Winners: The Shield
Rollins and Reigns are unstoppable, or were six months ago. Add in the lingering heat backstage and I think we’re going to see Big Show and Henry go Andre on their asses. Yes, both Reigns and Rollins are going to put a hold on Henry, it will last for nine minutes and Henry will nap though it (look it up, Andre did it one night, there’s video of him sleeping in hold on the mat), but in the end Big Show will go all WMD on Reigns and it’s all over for all of The Shield being strapped.
Kendra’s Predicted Winners and NEW Champions: Big Strong
I’m going to “go out on a limb” here and say The Shield continues to roll in this match. Henry and Show are just a thrown together team and we’ve already seen what happens when those are matched up against The Shield. While they’ll put together a decent match, The Shield gets the win and carries out the Tag Titles. The only thing I would find acceptable is if they lost by countout or interference with the Usos coming out and leaving Reigns and Rollins knocked out on the mat.
Chris’ Predicted Winners: The Shield
This match was thrown together at the very last minute, even though the company has been trying to piece it together since the day after Money in the Bank. I know they were hesitant to put Big Show’s name on the card until he was 100% cleared to wrestle, but let’s be honest if they needed to write him off they could have easily done it. The Shield is basically a team of mercenaries that attack anyone, anywhere, any time. Why not involve Big Show and if he didn’t end up clearing for competition Sunday night, set up a backstage “attack” on show and make it a handicap match. Yes that does go against what is advertised, but swerves happen. The match won’t be the most elegant you’ve ever seen but Big Show can work better than any other big man that’s stepped in the ring, and everyone knows by now that Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns (Dean Ambrose, too, for that matter) can work between the ropes like artists of wrestling. Honestly, this match is very set in the favor of Henry and Big Show being two mammoths in WWE. I don’t see them strapping the giants, but I don’t see the boys in The Shield getting out with a clean win either.
Zack’s Predicted Winners: Big Show and Mark Henry via DQ, The Shield retains.
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: The Shield
CJ’s Predicted Winner: The Shield
Alex’s Predicted Winner: The Shield
Gesus’ Predicted Winner: The Shield
Mixed Tag Match:
Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee and Big E. Langston
This match has me a bit on edge, because I would have hoped that if Ziggler hadn’t been concussed, he would have still been WHC at this point and feuding with Christian. But as they say, if ifs and buts were candies and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas. Personally, I think this may be the sleeper hit of the card, as AJ and Dolph both bring so much charisma and personality to this match that it is sure to get colorful. After all of the weeks of Kaitlyn spearing AJ and Big E. tasting the Zig Zag (I hate that finisher name!), I see the crazy chick and her muscle finally pulling out the win, with Kaitlyn taking the loss so Dolph looks good even in defeat.
Jesse’s Predicted Winners: AJ Lee and Big E. Langston
AJ will start the match by playing coy at Ziggler and hitting on him. That won’t sit well with Kaitlyn and she will push AJ away and shove her tongue down Ziggler’s throat. That won’t sit well with Big E who suddenly realizes that he does have all those feelings for Kaitlyn. Big E pushes Ziggler away and sweeps Kaitlyn into his arms. In the process Kaitlyn accientally kicks AJ in the face and knocks her from the ring. With AJ out of the ring and Big E carrying Kaitlyn away up the ramp, they’re counted out.
Kendra’s Predicted Winners: Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn
While Ziggler and Kaitlyn will probably have the upper hand in this entire match, I have a feeling we’ll see the “cowardly heel” role work in this one instead of Rhodes and Sandow. Pretty straight forward, the match will be well worked, Langston is a talented worker, and we all know Ziggler is amazing, the Divas involved are still my answer to this generations Trish and Lita, so it’ll be entertaining from start to finish. I would actually like to see the accidental “distracted ref backfire” moment, but I think the final outcome will be that Kaitlyn will hit a spear on AJ in a desperation moment, E will drop Ziggler outside the ring, and slide in picking up AJ and walking away with her before Kaitlyn can get the pin. While it will still be a loss, AJ can say Kaitlyn didn’t pin her so she doesn’t deserve a title match.
Chris’ Predicted Winners: Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn
Dolph Ziggler is in a transitional phase of his career, where he is just starting his climb up the ladder as a babyface. He has the potential to be a very popular superstar, and it is very important to preserve his momentum. On the other hand, a Mixed Tag loss would not hurt AJ Lee, because she would still be the Divas Champion, and that cannot be taken lightly. Ziggler needs this win more than AJ does. I am not even planning on discussing the involvement of Kaitlyn and Big E Langston, because AJ and Ziggler should be the focal points of this match.
Elto’s Predicted Winners: Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn
I am pretty disappointed with how this rivalry has been handled from the start. First off, the whole rivalry seems like it is more A.J. vs. Dolph than anything else. Secondly, I am just a pretty diehard Dolph Ziggler fan and seeing him drop the title to Del Rio after finally capturing it, just so that he could go into a weak match at SummerSlam disappoints me. I would much rather pay my good money to see Ziggler defending a championship than Del Rio. This match over all won’t be anything special. Mixed Tag matches never are, and unfortunately this won’t be any different. Also unfortunately for everyone, Dolph Ziggler is the better worker on his team, while A.J. is the more talented on hers, unfortunately they can’t wrestle each other. Big E is still green in the ring and his slower in ring style doesn’t match up well with Ziggler’s speed mixed with technical in-ring style. The sad part is that Ziggler should win this match without question, but they are trying to get Big E over and for whatever reason the company shows NO faith in Dolph at all. Kaitlin and AJ are the curveball part of this match. I could easily see them having AJ beat Katilin for the win. Though with as much as Kaitlin is getting bullied and beaten lately I like to think they’d give her the win. I am going to have faith in the company to do what’s right so I am going give the W to Ziggler and Kaitlin, and hopefully this will be the blow off both the rivalries.

Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow
This match right here shows that WWE is finally starting to see what we do in these two men and are finally trying to build new stars. And while the build for it hasn’t been as consistent as I would have liked thanks to WWE pushing it really hard in Corpus Christi’s Smackdown then it becoming an afterthought the very next week, both men have made brilliant strides with their respective characters. The question here is, who to put over? Damien Sandow is the logical choice here, since he holds to MITB Briefcase and needs to look strong, but by doing so, it regulates Rhodes back down to his old floundering around the midcard. But if Cody picks up the win, then it makes Sandow look like a weak future champion, especially with all of the losses he has racked up of late. I’m going to go out on a limb here and give it to Cody. Cody has been in WWE for a number of years now and this is the time for them to pull the trigger on him to see what he’s got for the main event scene.
Jesse’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
This is a match that I’ve been hoping for, yet worrying about. Because of so many matches on the card, and I still don’t think these two are ready to step into the ring together yet, so I see Cody hitting Sandow over the head with the new case and fleeing the ring with it. So what if Cody loses this, he’s been able to get another one over on Sandow. This is just the start of something big.
Kendra’s Predicted Winner: 1 Caseless Damien Sandow via DQ
This could be a very solid match as the two people in it are talented workers with a ton of upside, having been a tag team for a while they’ll also have plenty of chemistry. I don’t see anything too crazy happening here, just a good match that’s worked solidly, while Sandow will look impressive at moments I have a feeling he’ll wind up taking the loss. First impression is that Sandow will just walk away at some point and say that Cody isn’t worth his time, I could see him headed from the ring with Cody hitting his “Disaster Kick” to put Damien down for the pin. Cody Rhodes takes the victory setting him up for big things down the road.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
This one is hard to predict, because it features two names who are both in line for big pushes. When I think about their recent achievements, however, one is obviously overshadowed by the other. The most notable recent moments of Rhodes’ career include getting attacked by his former partner and throwing his briefcase into the Gulf of Mexico. Speaking of briefcases, Sandow is Mr. Money in the Bank. It seems that Sandow has a lot more momentum than Rhodes, but in this case, I think the turns the tides in Cody’s favor. Even if the self-proclaimed Savior goes under at SummerSlam, he still has that MITB briefcase and is almost certainly headed to the top of the card, while Rhodes has not done anything as notable lately and needs this victory more than Sandow does.
Elto’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
The match we will see between Cody Rhodes and Damion Sandow should just be renamed “look at the work horses go!” These two guys can put on a match, and put on a darn good one for that matter. Damion Sandow is getting his obvious push as Mr. Money in the Bank, but Cody Rhodes is being elevated as a babyface as well, and he is taking to it extremely well. As much as I’d like to say that Cody will pick up the victory, I see WWE going with Sandow to continue his rise to the main event picture. The only reason I could see Sandow losing is if the writers decided to do a Money in the Bank cash in swerve.
Zack’s Predicted Winner: Damien Sandow
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
CJ’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: Damien Sandow

World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Christian
Now this is the match I could personally care less about. WWE has give it to us twice in the past 3 weeks and while I am a huge Christian fan, I have to question how much more originality they can pull out of their hats to make this seem fresh. On top of that, Christian has been winning just about every match with some sort of roll-up as of late, and while a simple finish can breathe fresh air into things when used occasionally, it feels overdone at this point. I don’t see WWE letting this match go on too long because the fans will quickly voice their boredom. Christian will win this match with a Spear and while he is overtaken with emotion from winning his 3rd WHC, Alberto Del Rio will blast him with a Superkick! Sandow sees his chance and cashes in on the helpless Captain Charisma and emerges as our Intellectual Champion!
Jesse’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Christian, followed by Sandow cashing in!
This one is so obvious that I cannot believe all the other predicters didn’t see it coming a mile away! After ADR spends way too long trying to beat up Christian’s left arm, Rey will appear from under the ring and trip up ADR. ADR will go outside the ring to seek Rey and eat a spear from Edge. Rey and Edge roll ADR back into the ring for an unprettier and we have a new WHC!
Kendra’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Christian Cage
I would LOVE to see my article from the other night come to fruition in this matchup, Ricardo coming back and bringing The Ascension with him to take out Del Rio for the beat down he got the other night. The first thought would be that Christian winds up taking the title, although I see it going down a different way. Call me crazy, but I see Christian getting the win, because The Ascension beats down Del Rio before the match is completed, after doing their dirty work and leaving Del Rio “for dead,” the esteemed Mr. Sandow comes down with his awesome briefcase, pins Del Rio and walks away as the World Heavyweight Champion. As as result Christian goes off about being the uncrowned champion and wanting another shot at the belt, which he gets, but Cody Rhodes is added to the matchup as he is the last person to score a pinfall victory over the new champion.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: Christian via DQ, Sand cashes in on the fallen ADR!
I was very impressed with the Christian video package that aired this Monday on Raw. It left the impression that WWE actually had plans for Captain Charisma and that after so much time off TV, his presence was appreciated. He has also been using the “One more match” catchphrase once again, but now that he is a babyface, it would make sense if one more match is really all he needed to solidify his place at the top. In addition, it would open the door for a program with Money In The Bank briefcase holder Damien Sandow in the near future.
Elto’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Christian
The match for the World Heavyweight Championship has been very poorly built up considering they had a longer break between Pay-Per-Views than usual. It seemed like the company was leaning towards using Rob Van Dam in the match against Del Rio at SummerSlam this year, but then changed their mind and went with Christian. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad they did. Christian is a very talented superstar and deserves to be in one of the main events, and a heavyweight title match. This actually is leading me to believe they are going to let Christian take home the gold on this one. Alberto Del Rio, though I respect him as a worker, is not a champion I can get behind. I find him to be stale and boring in the ring, and his mic work to be on the forgettable side and very repetitive. Christian I think can carry the title well, if at very least can hold it before Damion Sandow cashes in. The match itself is going to be nothing special, Christian can work an above average match, but I fear Del Rio may weigh down his performance.
Zack’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Christian
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: Alberto Del Rio, Sandow cashes in and wins
CJ’s Predicted Winner: Christian
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: Christian
Alex’s Predicted Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Gesus’ Predicted Winner: Christian
Ring of Fire Match:
Kane vs. Bray Wyatt
The Ring of Fire… The RING of Fire… THE RING OF FIRE!!! Bray Wyatt and his Family have made quite the impact in such a short period of time. On top of leaving a huge swath of destruction in their path, they have targeted Kane, who may be one of WWE’s most sadistic monsters of all time. While the gimmick of the match is to keep people out and the competitors in, we have seen many times with the Inferno stipulation that it rarely works out the way. I fully expect that the action will spill to the outside and for the numbers to prove to be too great for Kane to overcome. Bray will get the win, and then will do the unthinkable and light the Big Red Monster aflame with his own fire.
Jesse’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
Excuse my language, but it’s time to screw the whole PG thang and set some bodies on fiah! Rowan tries to get into the ring and that greasy jumpsuit goes up like a torch! Harper jumps to save him and his oily jeans light up even faster. Kane laughs maniacally. Bray tries to laugh it off, but he’s obviously tweaked by his sheep getting barbequed. Kane taunts Bray, continues to work Bray over in the ring. Finally Kane tosses Bray from the ring and his hat catches fire. The ref doesn’t like this because it’s not how the match was supposed to go down, so calls a DQ on Kane. Kane doesn’t care, he stands there and laughs through his loss, because to him it was a win.
Kendra’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt via DQ by fire
When I first heard of this it had me stoked as hell for the return of the inferno match, when I heard the concept was that it would be a regular match, just surrounded by fire, with no intention to burn your opponent, my excitement was decresed by all of 1 percent. I love this matchup and I can’t wait to see these two great talents bust their ass to put on a hell of a show. I see the “moment of the night” happening is this matchup. While the fire is intended to keep Bray’s “family” out of the ring, I expect them to slip in through the flames somehow during the match, leading to the entire Family eventually beating Kane so badly that he has to go off television for a while. Wyatt winds up getting the victory, due to unbelievable outside interference.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt (Dirty)
So is this an Inferno Match, or… ? This one is a no-brainer to me, especially with the hype surrounding The Wyatt Family’s recent debut. Booking the group’s leader under in his very first match would be almost as ridiculous as making Lesnar lose to Cena in his first WWE contest in eight years. Furthermore, Kane is expected to take time off in order to shoot See No Evil 2, and being defeated by Wyatt in his own game is a good way to write him off.
Elto’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
The Wyatt family picked Kane as their first victim to make a name for themselves in the WWE. A brilliant move by the company, put your new guys against the monster that is Kane. At the same time these greener workers can work in a match with a veteran worker like Kane, who can really help them learn along the way. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing what Bryan Wyatt is really capable of. This match will be a Ring of Fire match, which should be a treat for the fans. The actual wrestling aspect of the match should be decent, but not great. Kane is never going to deliver a 5 star match, but he knows his way around a wrestling ring and is one of the more talented big men to ever step foot in the squared circle. Bray Wyatt is the wildcard because we haven’t seen him wrestle since his time in The Nexus, as Husky Harris. All in all the match should be a decent heavy-hitters style match. It should be interesting to see if, even though it’s a Ring of Fire match, the rest of the Wyatt family manages to interfere. With Kane being considered a “reliable veteran” and this being Bray Wyatt’s first match, I don’t see Wyatt losing.
Zack’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
Jamie’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
CJ’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
Alex’s Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
Gesus’ Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
The Best vs. The Beast:
CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar
Now this is the match I am looking forward to and dreading all in the same breath. I know and fully expect both Punk and Lesnar to put out a masterful performance and know that the match itself will be at close to the same epic level as Lesnar/HHH and Punk/Undertaker at Wrestlemania this year. And with Heyman there, we are assured of some fireworks. I expect at least one ref bump in the match so this can get a bit extreme, and I hope Punk can get his hands on Heyman in the process as well. But the big question mark is the finish. With both Punk and Lesnar needing a win to look strong, this is a next to impossible match to call either way. So I am going to play the crazy route here and call for a double countout or KO.
Jesse’s Predicted Winner: Draw
The WWE booked this one into a corner. Neither of these men can lose cleanly to the other and save face. Because of this Axel, Heyman, and even Luke Gallows get involved to cause a double DQ. The feud will continue and the WWE will keep trying to figure out how to make this work so one of them can go over clean at WrestleMania
Kendra’s Predicted Winner: A huge mess!
This is going to be one brutal matchup, it’s going to be one of the top two matches on the entire card, Lesnar is going to pulverize Punk, but Punk is going to battle back and get close to the upper hand. The proposed finale to the match that I think is most likely, with the lack of a true stipulation, is that Lesnar and Punk will both be counted out of the match. There won’t be a DQ finish, there won’t be a countout in the standard way of both guys being counted outside of the ring, it’ll be the rare “neither man can answer a ten count” to continue the matchup. The final moments will see Punk, after having taken a couple F5’s and having hit a GTS or two on Lesnar hitting one last one as his final act of desperation. Lesnar is left unconsicous on the mat, Punk passes out from the pain he’s suffered, the ref will then count them out.
Chris’ Predicted Winner: No Contest (Neither can continue)
I am eager to see how WWE handles the outcome of this match. As Richard has noted on several occasions, when it comes to picking the winner of Lesnar vs. Punk, good arguments can be made in favor of both men. Punk has lost a lot of momentum since dropping the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble and could use a big victory to get back where he once was. I don’t think Lesnar can afford to suffer another loss though. It is a miracle that WWE has managed to retain his reputation as an unstoppable monster following losses to both John Cena and Triple H. One has to think about how much money every single appearance by Lesnar costs the company, and for the vast amounts that are being poured into his contract, the mentality should be that they better make it count. From what I understand, The Beast will be around past SummerSlam, so it’s better to postpone his demise till WrestleMania, when he can pass the torch on to an up-and-comer.
Elto’s Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar
I really am looking forward to this match, but WWE has really booked themselves in a corner with this one. CM Punk needs to come off looking strong because he has lost the last several big matches he has been involved in against any sort of viable contender. Punk is still regarded as the “Number 2” guy, right behind John Cena, but if he is going to still remain “The Best in the World” he’s going to have to start proving it. Not to say Punk isn’t having some of, if not THE, best performances on the card, but the company needs to start giving him the wins again. On the other hand, Brock Lesnar hasn’t exactly raked in a ton of victories either. He went back and forth with Triple H in wins and losses. The company wants to book Brock Lesnar like an unstoppable beast, “the beast incarnate.” How, though, can they continue to push him as unstoppable when we have, in fact, seen him beat almost half the time? So do they continue the losing streak of CM Punk or does the Beast Incarnate continue to get tamed in a WWE ring? The best thing I can think is that there isn’t a clean finish for the match, but it seems like a lame finish to one of the biggest matches on the card. Either way, the match will be a fun one. Punk brings out the best in every worker, and he and Brock have been really working together to make this rivalry look good, I would imagine they will be doing the same for the actual match. Punk can work with anyone and Brock can work when he wants to. This will be more of a fight than a match, which should be a good time for everyone who gets to watch. My personal opinion, Brock and Heyman find a way to screw Punk out of the win.
Zack’s Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar

CJ’s Predicted Winner: CM Punk
Shashank’s Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar

WWE Championship Match with Special Guest Referee Triple H:
John Cena (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Here is the match everyone has been waiting on! Wrestler vs. Entertainer, Face of the Indys vs. Face of WWE, The Beard vs. The Champ! And what a match it would be if not for Cena’s elbow injury! I know that it will still be a fantastic encounter, but the injury will surely take away some of the magic. With the McMahon power struggle in full swing here, you are almost guaranteed that Mr. McMahon will be significantly involved in this match. And the match itself will be a grueling one, with plenty of false finishes and near falls, but Daniel Bryan will pull out the defining win here. And as Triple H raises his hand, you will hear the battle cry that every superstar now fears… Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta! SHIELD! The Hounds of Justice will waste no time in rushing the ring to attack Bryan and Triple H, all the while Mr. McMahon is laughing that his plan went exactly as expected. Then Randy Orton will rush the ring with Brad Maddox to cash in his MITB Briefcase and become the Corporate WWE Champion!
Jesse’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Daniel Bryan, followed by Randy Orton cashing in!
Bryan spent all of his time getting ready for SummerSlam by helping Brie work on her fantastic ring skills, and completely ignored what he needed to do to get ready for SummerSlam. Because of this Cena wrestles circles around Bryan, as he’s always doing. Bryan is beaten down at every turn, but in the end, Super Daniel Bryan Danielson breaks out his five moves of doom and takes Cena down with the STF. Cena tries to tap out. Orton’s music hits, but then Cena’s elbow explodes all over the ring and covers them both with ick! Orton wants to be Champ, but there’s no way he’s touching that! No, wait! Orton dives into the ring, tries to pin Bryan, but there’s too much ick in the ring that Orton can’t hit the RKO, slips on a chunk of elbow and knocks himself out on a chunk of bone. Bryan gets the three and it’s really over.
Kendra’s Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Daniel Bryan Danielson
This is THE controversial match of matches. This matchup is “the wrestler versus the entertainer,” or as pointed out in my article “I Am A Wresling Fan” the “wrestling fans versus the casual fanboys.” It’s pretty much expected that Randy Orton will cash in after this match, when Bryan puts him Cena down for the count and takes the WWE title, but can hardly get to his feet. My thought is that Bryan actually does the unthinkable, he makes Cena tap out. His finish puts pressure on the elbow, which will work in this match. With Cena going out for surgery, this is a great opportunity for WWE to push Bryan into the stratosphere. I think Orton will tease a cash in again, but eventually not follow through. My thought is still that Randy will become the WWE champ when cashing in his case, and he’ll be revealed as the “corporate champion” that Vince (and possibly the entire McMahon family) desires, but not on this night.
Chris’ Predicted Winner and NEW Champion: Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan is the hottest thing in WWE right now, and I expect the crowd reactions during this match to be mind-blowing. As a member of the Internet Wrestling Community and a fan of pure wrestling, it is hard to hide my affection for Bryan. He is arguably the best pure ring worker in the company and it would be a great breath of fresh air to have him as the face of WWE rather than someone we are, quite frankly, tired of seeing win. Nevertheless, my reason for betting my money on Cena is the same as before. WrestleMania 29 marked his biggest title win in his career, and one does not simply defeat the guy who went over The Rock. As popular as Bryan may be, he is nowhere near that level of mainstream significance yet. Furthermore, if he gets screwed over at SummerSlam by Mr. McMahon and Brad Maddox, the outcome of this match would be a great tool to advance the on-going rivalries within WWE management.
Elto’s Predicted Winner: John Cena
John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan is one of the most anticipated matches in a very long time. Not because it is going to a tremendous match, it will be very good match, but because people are so ravenous to have Daniel Bryan be WWE Champion. People haven’t just recently been getting behind Daniel Bryan, it has been building for well over a year now. I was in Atlanta for last year’s Wrestlemania, the hottest chant before, during, and after the event throughout the arena were the Yes! chants. When he was beaten in under a minute people were livid. “We want Bryan” and “Bring back Bryan” chants were heard regularly through the night. The people want Daniel Bryan, it is as plain and simple as that. I know there is talks, and not so subtle hints from WWE that Randy Orton will cash in his Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam and have a monster heel turn. I might be showing my inner mark on this one, but I would be against riding Daniel Bryan’s hard work and success to catapult Randy Orton back into the WWE Championship. Yes I understand from a business point-of-view it might work well, but I think I just really want WWE to put Daniel Bryan on the top of the mountain. They robbed him of a real World Championship match at Wrestlemania, don’t rob him of a real WWE Championship reign, too. As for the match itself I think we are going to see some great work. People like to be harsh on John Cena saying he can’t wrestle, but when his back is against the wall and he is in the ring with a really talented working like Daniel Bryan, he steps his game up. Anyone disagree? Go watch last years match between John Cena and CM Punk before Wrestlemania. These two guys will bring out each others “A” game. It will be a great match, and I think the company will put the title on Bryan just because if Vince has ever said anything it’s that you listen to your fans. Well the fans across the entire world are screaming YES! to Daniel Bryan.
