RAW Starts

Stills from Cena vs Orton at Royal Rumble last night when The Wyatt Family got involved.

In Ring Segment

The Authority to the ring, both in power suits, but Steph in a light gray cami under her jacket, showing more cleavage than she normal does. Trip hugs Steph from behind on the stage, and she cuddles in laughing.

They show stills of Brock destroying Big Show with a chair.

Steph – Welcome to Monday Night RAW. (mixed) I'm just as excited as you are, in less than 24 hours we witness the most satisfying...

"YES!" "YES!" "YES!"

Steph – Yes, it was one of the most satisfying Royal Rumbles in history. (heat)

Trip (in a whiny voice, bottom lip pooching out) – Oh, did someone not get what they wanted? Oh, that's too bad. (Back to egotistical Trip voice.) It was an incredible night in which Orton defended his WWE WHC by defeating Cena. It was a night where Brock destroyed Big Show. (heat) A night where our good friend returned after four years to defeat 29 other Superstars, and win the Royal Rumble, and Dave Batista secured his spot in the main event at WrestleMania. (heat)

Steph – There's one more stop on the way to WrestleMania, and that's the Elimination Chamber. Trip and I are proud to announce that Orton will defend the WWE WHC inside the Elimination Chamber itself.

Bryan comes out with a huge smile to even bigger "YES!" "YES!" "YES!" from the fans. "Daniel Bryan!" chants. More "YES!" "YES!" "YES!"

Bryan – Guys, guys, guys, guys, stop the 'Yessing', they don't like it! Guys, guys, you guys, if you could stop chanting "Daniel Bryan" I don't think they like it. We don't want to make The Authority mad. (Mixed 'Daniel Bryan's and "YES!", as JBL says, they just can't seem to get it together. Bryan is all smiles.)

Steph – I was gonna say that these people would never fall for your cheap parlor tricks, but I guess I was wrong. (heat)

Bryan – Listen, last night I had one of the toughest matches of my career. Win, lose, or draw, when you talk about the greatest moments of the Royal Rumble, a lot of people are talking about my match!

"YES!" "YES!" "YES!"

Trip – I'll be the first to give all the credit in the world. It was a good little effort man. (heat)

Steph – It was, it was an incredible match, it was.

Bryan – Thank you. And when people talk about the disappointments in the Royal Rumble, I have to think they're talking about my not being in the Royal Rumble Match. (pop) I know I had a match before and asked to be in the Royal Rumble. Listen to the people, they wanted me to be in the Royal Rumble. There is a movement going on, a YesMovement, but every time I came and knocked on your door and asked to be in the Royal Rumble, you said no.

Steph – This might be hard to understand, but as management, we have to take care of the health and well being of all our Superstars. Quite frankly Daniel, after everything you've been through the past couple weeks, we couldn't ask you to compete in two matches in the same night and put you in that kind of jeopardy.

"You suck!" chants for Steph.

Bryan – They didn't want to put me in jeopardy? How many times have you made me face all three members of The Shield? How many times have you made me face all three member of The Wyatt Family? How many times have I come out on RAW and wrestled more than once? Countless times!

Trip – That's fair, and why we didn't want to make you do it again and make you work twice last night. It's as simple as that. (HEAT)

Steph – And you have been through a lot.

Bryan – You don't care about my health, and you don't care what's best for business, you care about what's worst for Daniel Bryan.

Steph – That is a myopic point of view. Clearly the only person you think about is yourself. But we have a lot of other people to think about. Do you really think everyone in the arena came here to see you?

"YES!" "YES!" "YES!" Steph rolls her eyes.

Bryan – Let me answer your question with another question. Did you people come here to see Randy Orton?

"NO!" Heat. "NO!" Heat.

Bryan – Did you come here to see Triple H?

"NO!" "NO!" "NO!"

Bryan – People can come and watch who they want. That's the great thing about the WWE, they get to pick their favorite Superstars. But listen, listen to these people!

"YES!" "YES!" "Daniel Bryan!" "YES!"

Steph – I can't really understand what they're saying. Some are chanting one thing, others are chanting another, they can't get it all together.

"Daniel Bryan!"

Bryan – And there it is. I'm not here to complain about last night, what's happened has happened. In the Elimination Chamber, the WWE WHC is on the line. I want in that match.

"YES!" "YES!" "YES!" Trip whispers in Steph's ear, they both smirk.

Bryan – I want that match, they want that match, Steph,if you want to step aside. Hunter, I don't think either of us should leave this ring until I get what I want!

Bryan steps right up to Trip. Bryan stares up at Trip who stares down at Bryan. Right up close, almost nose to nose. (Sam says, "Bryan's gonna kiss him!") Trip seethes as the fans chant, "Daniel Bryan!"

Trip – That sounds good Bryan, but it's not just you and me in this ring, it sounds like right about now you've got company.

The Shield's music hits and out they come. Bryan runs from the ring, grabs a chair, then back into the ring and get ready. The Shield comes down through the crowd. The Shield surrounds the ring. Bryan keeps Ambrose out, then Rollins out, but Reigns gets in and they attack. They beat Bryan down on the mat, but then Sheamus' music hits and he runs down to the ring. They beat Sheamus down. Cena's music hits and he runs to the ring. Cena starts and the three clear the ring! Sheamus, Cena and Bryan yell, glare and pose at The Shield.

Bad News Barrett beats his gavel up on his podium.

Barrett – Ladies and gentlemen, can I have some decorum please? Thank you for joining us this evening, but I'm afraid I've got some bad news! Bad news for the TV viewers that is. Later there's a match that pits Miz against Dolph Ziggler. (mixed, then gavel pounding) It's a match that's called The Battle of Cleveland. (gavel) I'm glad that it's not been entitled, The Battle For Cleveland, because, let's face it, that's the type of match-up that would have two losers! Highly appropriate, as Cleveland is a town inhabited exclusively by losers! Thank you very much! (gavel)

In Ring Segment

Maddox – Good evening, I'm the GM of RAW, Brad Maddox, and it's my pleasure to introduce your WWE WHC, The Viper, Randy Orton!

Orton slowly out to the stage, strap in each hand. He drapes the WWE Title over his shoulder, starts heading down, then drapes the WHC over the other shoulder. To the ring he slides the belts into the ring, then in as Cole, JBL and King talk about Orton in Elimination Chamber. The fans are not giving him much heat, but no pop. A small "Daniel Bryan!" chant starts as Orton takes up the mic, and it gets louder as he speaks.

Orton – The Champ... Is here. (tiny bit of mixed) Despite what most of you thought would happen last night, I beat Cena, again, and walked out with these two titles in my grasp. Some of you say it was a hollow victory. That doesn't matter, what matters is I won! (very little reaction) And then I get to work today and I find out that in less than a month I'm to defend my Title against 5 other Superstars in Elimination Chamber. What kind of garbage is that Brad? (right up in Maddox's face) Is that your idea? The Authority's? HUH? Listen, I demand a little respect. I'm The face of the WWE. Not Batista, not Brock...

Batista's music and he comes out in a dark purple mottled t-shirt, a gray hoodie left open, and a military style olive green jacket over looser fitting distressed blue jeans, and work boots, with some scruff on his face. Orton is having a fit at Maddox in the ring. Batista takes Maddox's mic, and gets more heat than Orton did the whole time he's been out so far.

Batista – Congratulations Randy. I mean it, that was a hell of a performance last night, hell of a match. But, like I told you last week.

Batista stops and looks at the fans who have a couple disjointed "Daniel Bryan!" chants going on.

Batista – But, like I told you last week, I'm back for three reasons, to win the Royal Rumble, headline WrestleMania, and walk out of WrestleMania WWE WHC. Two down, one to go. I don't care who I face at the Superdome. I don't care if it's you, it's not personal. I don't care if it's Cena. I don't care if The Shield, and I don't care if it's Daniel Bryan. (pop) And I don't care if it's the winner of the Elimination Chamber Match! So on April 6, I don't care whether you, or The Authority like it or not, I'm walking out of WrestleMania WWE WHC, and nothing's going to change that. (heat)

Brock's music hits (about three seconds after I called it aloud). Brock has pyro, and Heyman in tow. Brock to the bottom of the ramp, bounces on the balls of his feet, then up on the apron. Brock into the ring, and Maddox looks nervous.

Heyman – Mr. Maddox, my name is Paul Heyman, and I stand before you as the advocate for Brock Lesnar. My client, sir, has authorized me to inform you, respectfully that his patience is running thin. Which means that my client says you need to go back to The Authority, and let them know they have two choices. Choice number one, as you're GM and I'm a promoter, let's make history here tonight, right here in Cleveland, Ohio. (eye roll) And you authorize a match with the WWE WHC Randy Orton in a Title Match against The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar!

Orton pitches an absolute fit! Stomping all over the ring, yelling no, flailing, and turning purple in the process. "YES!" "YES!" "YES!"

Heyman – My client is not an unreasonable man, so we're not demanding, we're just suggesting it, because choice number 2 would be that you put the obvious #1 Contender, Brock Lesnar against the so-called #1 Contender, Batista! Personally, I like both suggestions, but it's not up to me, whichever Steph and Trip makes, the winners are the WWE 'Universe'. Therefore, my client wants Trip and Steph's answer tonight – or else!

Heyman and Brock leave the ring, Brock glaring the whole time. Orton is still tweaking in the ring, but Batista is a an ice statue. Heyman, off mic yells that he's just the advocate!

Hello, and welcome to what could be the craziest RAW Open Thread we’ve ever had. Please, feel free to let loose tonight.

Hello everyone in the WNW Nation! Hope everyone has recovered from the abomination of wrestling booking at last night’s Royal Rumble match. Loved Orton and Cena trading each other’s signature moves and the Wyatt/Bryan match, but the rest of the PPV was like watching NOC, Battleground, and Hell in the Cell.

  4. John 27 January, 2014 at 19:33 Reply

I have noticed a trend in recent months that the RAW after a WWE PPV is always great (probably because the PPV’s suck so bad) but anyway I’m interested to see what they do tonight.

  5. Danny Philippi 27 January, 2014 at 19:35 Reply

It also sounds bad but I was more interested to the end of the Pro Bowl than the end of the Royal Rumble. It had a less predictable ending. Once Punk was eliminated, I lost it. Three musclemen at the end is what Mr. McMahon dreams of.

  6. Xavier 27 January, 2014 at 19:36 Reply

I just wanted too say that I have absolutely no issue with fans getting impatient, angry and irritated with the booking of Daniel Bryan. I get it, I was very let down by last night as much as everyone else but with all that said I just wanna say that What’s the point of trying to hijack the show? I mean yeah fans can show up and “hijack” the show all they want but that won’t change a damn thing. One thing that people fail to realize is that once you buy a ticket Vince has already won. After that point those fans can chant whatever they want and while they’re doing all that huffing & puffing Vince is backstage counting all the money. If the so-called smart fans were really smart then they should of realized a long time ago that the only way to truly get Vince’s attention is by hurting him in his checkbook. Vince seeing RAW/House Shows/WrestleMania with half the arena empty would do 100x more in forcing change then PAYING him money just too hijack a show. Vince will continue to not take smarks seriously until they actually do this.

P.S, signing a silly petition online won’t do much of anything either

    • Mike McCarthy 27 January, 2014 at 19:38 Reply

After last years SuperBowl I started a petition to get rid of the referee who lost the game for the Niners. …..It got three other signatures….

        • Mike McCarthy 27 January, 2014 at 19:42 Reply

And the Niners came back and would’ve scored a touchdown to take the lead with seconds left. But the ref didn’t call an obvious pass interference, I’m not gonna sit around and argue about it. It’s common knowledge.

          • Danny Philippi 27 January, 2014 at 19:47

Even if the Niners got the holding call called, they would have the ball on the two yard line with a little over a minute remaining. And Frank Gore was not a factor in the game, so Kaepernick still had to throw on Baltimore. Sometimes, destiny trumps all.

If you want Vince to hear your opinion, try actually doing something that has an effect on the WWE, don’t just type mean comments that they won’t read on the Internet.

The difference between Hardy and Bryan is vast. Hardy was battling a ton of personal demons at the time and was in a bad way. Bryan is dedicated to his craft and has a sensible head on his shoulders.

Lol very true. The more & more I think about it the more & more I think about fake Rosie vs fake Trump, remember how fans crapped on that and that was actually the reaction Vince was counting on. Well we all know what that lead too, easily one of the biggest money making angles of the past 25-30 years. If I’m not mistaken WM23 still generated the biggest buyrate in Mania history and a large oart of that was due to the mainstream exposure that Trump vs Vince got.

People that understand the business ie. Jr and maybe Mr. Gray understand that winning the rumble and putting belts on people are tools to get performers over. With that Understanding Daniel Bryan DOES NOT NEED either. He is already Over as much as anyone as ever been. They need others Batista as example to get over so that is why he wins the Rumble and will get strapped with a belt.

    • Danny Philippi 27 January, 2014 at 19:59 Reply

Again, my fury isn’t about Bryan not winning the Rumble (I had Batista winning from the time his promos hyping his return), but it is with Bryan not being in the Rumble match, period. Austin was in the Rumble every year from 97-01 except 2000 when his injured his neck. Hogan was in the Rumble match from 1990-92. Those superstars had the popularity that Bryan has now, yet Bryan wasn’t allowed to show case his ability in the “All-Star” match of WWE.

  14. The Breaker 27 January, 2014 at 19:56 Reply

I can’t believe how out of touch TPTB really are. Vince had to be just a little bit embarrassed by the way the fans took a giant dump over the WWEWHC match and towards the end of the Rumble match when everyone realized that Bryan was left out. Putting Batista over in the Rumble was an incredibly asinine move, and I hope they end up paying for it. I’m not watching RAW live tonight. I’m just too peeved over the whole situation. Even if they somehow make it right, it wasn’t at all worth it for them to sacrifice the Rumble match so they can book Batista on in the ‘Mania main event. It ticked off a huge part of the WWE fan base, and that’s really the last thing you want to do when your big money event (the WWE Network launch) is right around the corner.

It wasn’t Bischoff’s fault. WCW’s fortunes turned after he was already gone. That could have been a blip on the screen otherwise.

          • Nostaljack 27 January, 2014 at 20:44

Bischoff was hamstrung by a merger. He wasn’t perfect but he was beating the pants off WWE for 87 weeks. That wasn’t the work of someone who didn’t know what he was doing.

          • Xavier 27 January, 2014 at 20:47

True but by the beginning of 99 it was all down hill. Outside of Goldberg who did Bischoff really help create. Bischoff has always been overrated too me. He was fortunate enough to have Ted Turner’s deep pockets to steal talent away or else he would of never even been a has been. He was also fortunate enough that the WWE was under investigation in the early 90s or else Hogan, Savage and all these other guys would of never jumped ship

          • Nostaljack 27 January, 2014 at 20:48

Vince did the exact same thing. He stole everyone away from AWA and NWA. That’s how he built WWE.

          • Nostaljack 27 January, 2014 at 20:51

You make a compelling argument. Vince took the raw material and made stars of them. Eric took people who were already stars…but he made ’em even bigger.

          • Judas 27 January, 2014 at 21:14

Hogan was a star before WWE. He was in AWA when Rocky 3 came out, and that’s what launched him. Vince just used him better than Verne.

          • Judas 27 January, 2014 at 20:51

WCW also built DDP and Booker T. While Booker didn’t win the big title under Bischoff, Page did and rose to be a major wcw star.

          • Judas 27 January, 2014 at 20:56

He wasn’t over like DDP, and was really just WCW’s version of The Rock, but he was pretty over.

          • David Jr. 27 January, 2014 at 20:50

WCW started there downard spiral before the merger. The merger is why they are no longer in business, but you can’t blame the merger for WCW starting to get bad. I think the start was Hogan vs. Sting match.
