From Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas
Reported on by Kendra Bunyon For Wrestling News World
Last week Brock sent a message, but an unbridled Punk is there tonight. And last week Cena chose Bryan, tonight they make it official with a contract signing to kick off RAW!
At MITB Heyman ended his friendship with Punk. Heyman went on to tell Punk last Monday that he can’t beat Brock. Without Heyman, Punk isn’t the best in the world. Punk says he’s going to get Heyman. The video shows Brock destroying Punk last week on RAW. Also, after Cena survived Henry at MITB, Maddox told Cena he could pick his own opponent at SummerSlam. Cena, of course, picked Bryan. The fans went wild for Bryan, as always.

Drum roll for Maddox with the lights out. Maddox is in the ring in a very pale gray, almost off white suit jacket over a shite shirt, black tie, and oddly blue pants. He talks himself up a bit. He decided to let Cena choose his own opponent for SummerSlam, and tonight they’re going to have the contract signing. Maddox introduces Cena to the ring. Cena out to mixed reaction, much of it heat. Cena sits at the table.
Maddox – Now, Cena, before the signing…
“YES!” “YES!” “YES!”
Cena – Let him talk, this is RAW. What’s on your mind?
Maddox – Before we get to the signing, there’s a curriosity factor. Why Bryan?
Cena – That’s an easy one, because of you. You let me choose anyone. I listened to the ‘Universe’ and the decision was clear in my mind.
Maddox – Some say you knew you could beat him. You’re bigger, stronger, and he looks like a troll. Isn’t Bryan the missing link. Some would say Bryan is unstable. He can’t hold a relationship together.
Cena – You look unsure of these accusations. You sure Bryan is all these…
Bryan’s music and he comes out as Austin erupts with “YES!” “YES!” “YES!” and Bryan appears to be in awe when he gets to the ring. Bryan gets the “YES!” “YES!” “YES!” going again and the fans are wild!
Bryan – Gee Brad, it seems to me that you’re saying.
Bryan – You’re saying I don’t deserve a shot at that, but I think these people agree with you.
Maddox – You think you deserve it? Why do you think Cena chose you?
Cena – Easy, easy tight coat! You wanna know why Cena picked him, you’d be man enough to ask Cena. Bryan, the reason I chose you because Maddox and the dumbasses he works for are afraid to see God given talent and ability, even when its beard is staring them in the face. You want to run this man down for being half my size? Run him down for not being as strong as me? If size is everything that matters for this (Cena throws down the strap at Maddox) you run to the back and give that to Khali. I got names like HBK, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero that prove ability and passion make a WWE Champ, not just size and strength.
“Eddie! Eddie!” (Cena removes his hat in respect for Eddie.)
Cena – Bryan, if I can be honest. The ‘Universe’ loves you right now, and I’m proud of you for that, but I chose you because you earned it, and you deserve it. Being a wee Champ is about facing the best competition at all times, and sometimes that’s not the most likely source. If I didn’t choose you, would you be in this match, I don’t know, but I did pick you. I picked you to compete. Just because of that, doesn’t mean I’m going to hand you this. (Cena signs) I just signed this contract, I’m going to SummerSlam to defend the WWE Championship. You’re the best competition in the company right now, and at SummerSlam I will prove even the best isn’t good enough.
“Daniel Bryan!” (Bryan signs)
Bryan – Well, John…
Maddox – There you have it, ladies and gentlemen, Cena versus Bryan at SummerSlam!
Bryan – “NO!” You don’t get to interrupt me! I have waited my entire career for this opportunity and proven I deserve this.
Maddox – You’ve proven you deserve it? You really deserve it?
Bryan – Yes.
Maddox – Cena thinks so and a vocal minority of the ‘Universe’ thinks so, but not everybody does. That’s why I’m giving you an opportunity to prove your critics wrong, and how better than in a match tonight. Did I say a match, matches. Plural, more than one. Do I think you’re going to prove yourself worthy? “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Maddox – “NO!”
Both Cena and Bryan glare at Maddox. Off mic Cena talks down to Maddox.
JBL wonders who Bryan will face. King talks about The Shield attacking Henry last week and he’s going to fire back tonight.

Video recap of the high points of the match.
Vickie was named Smackdown GM, then threw Long out of the arena.
Renee Young – After a lengthy absence you returned to what you thought was your rightful position on Smackdown, but that’s not what happened, was it?
Booker T – Not quite. I must say I respect McMahon’s decision, but after Vickie was made GM, I was a bit shocked.
Long – You shocked, what about me? I filled in for three long months, and you wouldn’t know the abuse I took while you sat at home with your feets propped up in your chair.
Booker T – You of all people know I had surgery.
Long – All I know is I was left holding the bag. After all I did for you and Smackdown, Vickie had me thrown out.
Booker T – You keep going on, I’ll have you thrown out.
Long – That’s what you’re all about, physical aggression. If I wasn’t going to be named GM, maybe McMahon made the right decision. I’m out of here.
Long leaves and Booker T looks after him in shock.

Recap of Ryback’s attack on Jericho after Jericho’s match with Axel on Smackdown.
Josh – You attacked a hapless Jericho, and based on some of your actions, people think you enjoy intimidating others.
Ryback – You know what? I do. Like you, you little twerp, you’re about average size. You represent the WWE ‘Universe’. I hate average. The law of the jungle, always eat the weaker and smaller. Taking lunch money on the playground, or manhandling anybody I want, the big guy needs to eat. You, people like you, deserve to be intimidated by me. If not, I’ll show you why you should be. (Ryback steps up at Josh who backs up, thanks Ryback, then flees.)

Henry to the ring. Video of Henry in the ring last week getting beaten down by The Shield.
Henry – I’m proud of the fact that I’m a born and raised Texan. I’m proud of the fact I was raised down the street at Silsbee, Texas. I’m proud of the fact that I gave my all in my match with Cena. What I’m not proud about is what happened last week with The Shield. My heart don’t pump Kool Aid! Any man that takes a whooping like I took is willing to give one out. I’m not going to lull you all to sleep. I’m wide awake. The Shield wants me, I’m right here.

Bryan – You here to wish me luck.
Cena – I don’t think tonight’s about luck. Maddox put you in last minute matches. Did you see how nervous he was out there. I got a hunch he’s not making his own choices.
Bryan – No one appreciates you picking me for SummerSlam more than I do. It’s an increidble opportunity, and I know it. I’ll be fine, on my own.
Cena – I just want you to make it to SummerSlam.
Bryan – I don’t care who my opponents are, or how many. If you were in my shoes, you’d be saying the same thing, and I wouldn’t be trying to stop you. Maddox was right. This is an opportunity to prove I belong here. Tonight I’m going to fight, and I’m going to win. Please, don’t deprive me of this opportunity. If you do, if you get involved in any of my matches it will prove that all you said was nothing but a load of crap.
Bryan leaves and Cena looks a bit worried.

King – Miz, I think we’re about out of time, I’ll hand this back to you.
Miz – Thank you Jerry. Tune in to Total Divas Sunday, 10-9, only on E! It will be awesome!
Maddox on his cell phone, Trip comes in.
Trip – You don’t think Bryan is big enough. You don’t think Bryan is strong enough. You, in your vast experience, don’t think Bryan is Championship material?
Maddox – Well, I, um…
Trip – It almost sounds like someone put words in your mouth. I don’t care what the old man thinks, I think Bryan very possibly could be the future of this company. You know why I didn’t come out and override all your decisions you make?
Maddox – Because you liked them.
Trip – No, no, I think it doesn’t matter what you throw at Bryan, he’s so driven, he will overcome anything. See, there’s two trains leaving the station, you need to choose wisely which train you get on. One train is the future, one is a dead end.
Trip leaves, and Maddox looks after him, but a hand slaps on his shoulder and it’s Steph.
Maddox – Hi, how you doing?
Steph – How you doing? (Takes Maddox’s hand and shakes it solidly.) I feel for you Brad. My Dad, my husband, rock hard place. I’ve been there.
Maddox – Yeah.
Steph – And, I’ve got an idea that might help. I haven’t thought it through, but I will talk to you about it. You just need to get on board.
Maddox – The train?
Steph – The train!
They laugh about the dead end train. Cole talks about the Wyatt Family and how scary they are. JBL says a lot of people are nervous, but he’s retired, so he’s glad they’re here. They go to video from their promos, clips of Bray on mic, and them beating down R-Truth last week.

Punk to the ring in jeans and Punk t-shirt. Video recap of the fight between Brock and Punk last week, where Brock beat Punk down.
Punk – Let’s go ahead and talk about what we just saw. Last week I had my ass handed to me by Brock. He hit me with his best shot over and over until I was in a heap right here. I felt his power, and knew I was dealing with a genetically gifted freak athlete. But no matter how hard he hit me, how far he threw me, or how fast he snatched me up, and how quickly he F5 me onto the table, I got up. One week later, 13 staples in my head. A severely messed up ankle, a messed up ribs, my elbows messed up, hell, I probably shouldn’t even be there. I feel like I was in a car accident, but you know what? I’m still standing! That’s the things about a Brock ambush. He can beat me down, but he can’t keep me down. Let’s talk about Brock. He’s an NCAA Champ, a former WWE Champ, and possibly the most impressive, a former UFC Heavyweight Champ. You’re talking about a guy who in his past couple fights he’s broken Trip. He’s broken Cena, he’s broken Taker. Over all the years, all the fights, all the matches. His biggest strength hasn’t been his size, his speed, his power, not his fighting skill, it has and always will be about one thing – fear. I’ve seen some of the toughest men getting instilled with fear. I am not afraid of Brock Lesnar! I’m not afraid of Heyman’s monster. Now let’s talk about Heyman.
Punk – Heyman had a decision to make, and he made the wrong one. I’m going to make sure he lives to regret it every single day of his miserable life. Because I’m relentless. I’m not going to stop until Brock is in the same heap he left me in. I’m not going to stop until Brock returns from the hype he came from. It doesn’t matter what Brock or Heyman thinks, this is my ring! I own it and proven time and again against everyone put in the ring with me. I’m talking Cena, The Rock, Taker, and I would have proven it until my best friend stabbed me in the back for the second time!
Punk – Paul Heyman, Pauly, listen up, and this is a truth I’m going to take… to my grave. There will not be a third time. I will get my hands on you, and I will make you pay, and in the meantime, I’m not going to stand out here and pretend that Brock isn’t a big, mean son of a bitch, no, I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to pretend he’s not the monster his is. But I will say that monsters were put on this earth, and directly in my path for one reason, to be slaughtered! If Brock is the beast incarnate, then I want that beast. Here’s what I want. I want him here right now, but I know he’s not here, so I want his ass at SummerSlam. I want CM Punk versus Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, I want the best versus the beast!
Heyman – The Best versus The Beast! I don’t care who gets top billing. I like it, it’s clever marketing.
Punk – Are you here, or by satellite? If you’re here, I’m going back there and grabbing you from the hidey-hole you’re hiding in, and I’m going to drag you in front of the people of Austin and give you what you deserve!
Heyman – Is this way you’re reduced to now. You’re going to stand there in the ring and play hero to these um – Brock, what do you call them? They’re not people, they’re not animals, they’re they’re Texans. Thank God that we live in the age of instant global communications that we can deliver our message to you and the entire ‘Universe’ and never once have to step foot in Texas! But there you are, right there in front of all your new worshipers playing hero. Brock has a very interesting theory about that, show me a hero and I’ll show you a coward that ran out of options, or a fool who’s just too stupid to stay down. What are you Punk? Are you a coward, or are you a fool?
Punk – I’ll give that answer to you and your client at SummerSlam.
Heyman – You know, how do I admit this to everybody, this bother me…
Punk – What bothers me is that you’re via satellite, where are you right now? I will drive, fly, no I will walk there and kick your ass right now. Get the hell out of here with this via satellite garbage!
Heyman – What really bothers me is to this day you don’t realize that we were the reigning defending WWE Champion for 434 days based on, admittedly your talent, but my strategy, and strategically speaking, my client is in the peak form, the best fighting form of his career, but look at you. Look at you, you’re not recovered yet, you’re all beat up from MITB, and you’re all beaten up from last week from the beast incarnate himself. If it’s a fight you want, CM Punk your challenge for SummerSlam is accepted, but please stop calling this The Best versus The Beast,
because the best is the beast, he’s my client, and my best friend in the world, Brock Lesnar.
