WWE RAW Opener:

We start off tonight’s show with Shane McMahon and he does the Shane-O Shuffle as he comes to ringside ready for some action. Shane says that Bobby Lashley will not be here tonight. He has been responsible for shaving his father’s head bald and for costing Umaga the Intercontinental Championship. We take a look back at last week when Vince McMahon made an open challenge for Umaga and Santino Marella’s acceptance of the challenge from the crowd. Then we see Bobby Lashley helping Santino defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental Title. Shane says that in honor of St. George’s Day in the United Kingdom, someone will have the opportunity to slay a dragon. This is no ordinary dragon. The meanest and baddest dragon of them all. That dragon is him. Someone will face Shane-O Mac tonight. Shane looks at the people in the crowd and he sees the manager of the Chelsea Football team but he does not want a part of Shane. Shane says that he had a feeling that this would happen and he found the baddest man in Great Britain to face him. Shane mentions that this man defeated six man single handedly in a pub. Shane says that they were members of the Chelsea Football team. Shane brings out Liverpool’s own Robbie Brookside.

Non Title Match
Referee: Michael Chioda

Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena (c)

The start:

Michaels went after Cena's left arm and shoulder in the opening minute to establish his game plan. Suddenly, Cena went for the STFU out of a drop toe hold off the ropes, but Michaels quickly reached the bottom rope. Cena smirked and Michaels held his head with his hands before Cena pointed to his head as if to say he was in Michaels's head. Cena landed a front slam out of a waist lock, then he gave Michaels time to slowly reach his feet. A little cockiness from Cena. Michaels and Cena then went face-to-face and Michaels landed a slap before Cena smashed him in the face with a right hand blow. Dang. Michaels came up fuming and they cut to a break.

Mid-match notes:

Out of the break, the crowd was on its feet as both men were in a neutral corner for a quick breath. Cena applied a side headlock and grinded Michaels into the mat. They're pacing for a 45- minute match tonight. Michaels escaped the headlock, but Michaels answered with a hard shoulderblock. Cena then re-applied a side headlock as Michaels dangled in Cena's grasp. Michaels then pushed Cena to the ropes and used a veteran move to drop Cena into the ropes. He then went on the attack with hard chops to the chest in the corner, but Cena came back with another side headlock to slow Michaels down. Cena then caught Michaels near the ropes and nearly put him in position for the FU, but Michaels slipped over the top rope and collected himself on the floor. Cena showed Michaels that he was mere inches away from having the match won. Guess what? Cena had Michaels in a headlock out of the break. Michaels then drove Cena to the corner and landed a right hand blow to the chest to break the hold. In the corner, Michaels landed a chop, then Cena followed with a right hand blow, and they exchanged consecutive blows before Cena caught Michaels in mid-air with a front slam for a nearfall. Cena then executed his flip over fisherman suplex for another nearfall. He followed with a modified Blockbuster after running the ropes, but scored yet another nearfall. Michaels then came back with hard chops, but Cena answered yet again with a back body drop for another nearfall. Cena was lazy with a suplex attempt, and Michaels quickly executed a snap neckbreaker. Both men then recovered on the mat before Michaels and Cena went into a standing exchange of slaps and punches. Michaels finally ended the exchange with a flying forearm smash off the ropes, and both men recovered on the mat.

Michaels came up with a burst of energy and landed right hand blows, but he continued to favor his lower back. He then went up top and landed a top rope elbow smash and warmed up the band at 25:00. The crowd came to its feet as Cena slowly reached his feet, but Michaels went for a backslide instead of a superkick and scored a nearfall. Cena then missed badly with a flying splash off the ropes and crashed through the ropes to the floor. Michaels tried to take advantage with a flying body press splash, but Cena caught him in mid-air. He then hoisted him on his shoulders, but Michaels slipped out and shoved Cena shoulder-first into the ring steps. Both men collapsed to the floor as Ross sent us to commercial. Whew. Back from break, Michaels landed a right hand blow. Michaels then drove Cena's left shoulder into the ringpost, trying to take away Cena's power game. Michaels continued to take the arm apart, crashing down on the deltoids and triceps with all of his weight. Michaels then went for another attack, but Cena came back with clotheslines using his good arm. He caught Michaels with a turn-out slam, then he called for the Five Knuckle Shuffle and landed it. Michaels then escaped the FU at 33:00, but Cena caught him with the FU on his second attempt. He made a cover, but Michaels kicked out with full strength just before three. Big crowd pop for the believable nearfall. Back from the break, Cena had Michaels by the seat of his pants and he threw him under the ropes to the outside. Loud boos from the crowd for that move. Cena then followed to the outside and rammed Michaels back-first into the corner ringpost. Ouch. Back in the ring, Cena made a cover, but Michaels kicked out at two. We're at 40 minutes and Cena landed consecutive knock down right hand blows. He went for a suplex, but Michaels blocked. Cena finally took Michaels over with a delayed vertical suplex and made a cover for a nearfall. "How in the good Lord's name did Shawn Michaels kick out of that?" Ross asked aloud.

Cena then went to a bear hug and Michaels gasped for air. Michaels broke free at 42:00, then Michaels landed a right hand chop to the chest. Cena then reversed an Irish whip and Michaels went flying over the corner ringpost to the floor. Cena went to the outside and grabbed Michaels, then threw him into the ring. Cena then went up top and hit a well-executed guillotine leg drop that took Michaels face-first into the mat, but it was good for a nearfall only. Michaels was dead weight, then Cena took Michaels up top and went for an FU, but Michaels countered with a top rope powerbomb. Both men recovered on the mat before Cena suddenly went for the STFU, but Michaels kicked him out of the ring to the apron. Michaels then built a head of steam and rammed Cena off the apron into the announce table on the floor below. The camera then focused on Cena with a blank look on his face. The referee reached a five-count, but Michaels broke the count and rolled out of the ring to the floor. He then stripped away the top ring steps and took Cena to the base steps. He went for a piledriver on the base steps, but Cena back dropped Michaels back-first to the floor. Ouch. Sweat covered the padding and they cut to a break at 47:00. We re-joined the action at 50:00, with Cena clotheslining Michaels over the announce table into Ross and Lawler's lap. Cena screamed at the ref that Michaels wouldn't stay down. Cena then rolled Michaels into the ring and quickly applied the STFU in center ring. Michaels struggled to reach an angle to relieve the pain, then Michaels dragged both men to the corner and he made one last gasp effort to grab the bottom rope and break the hold. Cena broke the hold, then went into a crouching position, ready to pounce on Michaels. Cena then blocked Sweet Chin Music, and went for the FU, but Michaels slipped out and caught Cena on the side of his mouth with Sweet Chin Music. He crawled on his belly toward Cena, then made a cover, but Cena grabbed the bottom rope just before a three count.

The Finish:

Cena and Michaels slowly reached their feet in the corner at 55:00, then Michaels landed a desperation right hand chop to the chest. Cena came back with a right hand blow to the face, then Michaels answered with a chop. Cena then sent Michaels upside down in the corner. He tried to follow with an FU, but Michaels flipped out of the hold and nailed Cena with Sweet Chin Music. The crowd exploded, and on the way down, Michaels fell on top of Cena and made the cover for the win.

Winner - Shawn Michaels

The Aftermath:

Afterward, Michaels recovered in a neutral corner and had his arm raised by the referee. Michaels then went down to both knees next to Cena's fallen body and grabbed the WWE Title. He mouthed something to Cena as Ross asked if the WWE Championship has ever been in more jeopardy. Bam. There's the money line. Michaels then went back to his feet and gave crotch chops as Cena covered his face with his right hand as they signed off.
