WWE RAW Results - 09/17/2007

Written by Steve Carrier on Sep 17, 2007 - 9:13:26 PM

WWE RAW Opening:

The WWE intro vid rolls and is followed by clips of the Raw where Randy Orton kicked the shit out of John Cena Sr. and last night's Unfrogiven title match where the Cena's got some revenge, and the Last Man Standing Match was set for No Mercy.

We are in Nashville, Tennessee and kicking things off with the WWE Champion John Cena! JR and Jerry Lawler welcome us to the show as Cena slides in the ring and grabs a mic. Guys, he knows some people are upset with him and are saying "what's wrong with him?" He has a lot of pent up aggression but he wants to say he's sorry. Tonight is a different story and he feels great. No, he feels fabulous. A weight has been lifted and everything is going to be OK because last night he lost to Randy Orton. He wants to say thank you. To his dad for being brave enough to show up and making him the proudest son on the face of the other. He also wants to thank Randy Orton because the past few weeks, Orton has made Cena put things into perspective and was stupid enough to think he got himself intentionally DQed and is stupid enough to want a rematch with John Cena. Most importantly, the biggest thank you goes to Coach for making the Last Man Standing match for No Mercy with the title on the line. It'll be no rules, no limits, no pin falls, no DQs. So what he did to Orton last night will be perfectly legal and at No Mercy he can do whatever he wants. He doesn't have to worry about consequences. Thank you Coach. He's excited about the rematch.

Coach is out here now. He says Cena shouldn't be thanking him for the match, he should be thanking him that he still has a job. His dad blatantly attacked a superstar and then Cena attacked Coach. He could have fired him or stripped him of the gold. He will allow Randy Orton to get some revenge tonight. Randy Orton vs. John Cena… Senior! Right here tonight!

Intercontinental Championship
Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin has his solo music again. Not sure who has the worst (best?) hair here. They lock up and Benjamin gets an early Northern lights for 2. Benjamin with boots in the corner and a knock down. Shelton misses a clothesline and takes a double leg-drop to the abdomen. Low dropkick gets 1 for Hardy. Jeff controls the arm of Benjamin but is countered with an arm drag. Jeff holds on and rolls through, regaining control. Arm wringer by jeff. Benjamin counters out of it and works Hardy's arm now. Fans get behind Jeff who counters. Overhead wristlock by Hardy. Knees to the joint of Benjamin now. Into the corner and Hardy slugs away. Back to the arm, but Benjamin gets a knee. Hardy sends Shelton to the apron, Benjamin blocks and tries to suplex Hardy over. Jeff blocks and mule kicks Shelton to the floor. PLANCHA TAKES OUT BEJAMIN! Both men down as we head to break!

We're back at Benjamin is really torquing the neck of Hardy. During the break, Jeff missed Whisper in the Wind and took a stiff kick to the head. Hardy fights back but gets caught with a flapjack for 2. Shelton beats Jeff down in the corner and hits a face-wash. Benjamin uses the ropes to choke the champion. Neckbreaker by Benjamin gets another near fall. Shots now by Benjamin before reapplying a chinlock. Fans rally behind the champion again and Jeff comes back with elbows, only Benjamin pulls Jeff down by his hair. Shelton goes for a pin and gets 2. Jeff blocks a superkick, ducks the Dragon Whip and both men go down following a clothesline. Apparently, Triple H will face the tag champions tonight. Both men are up at 7, Shelton misses a splash and gets taken down by Hardy. WHISPER IN THE WIND! Kick, TOF-countered into a backbreaker for a very long 2 count! Shelton fires off with a right, gets sent into the corner. Jeff hits the turnbuckle, side Russian legsweep floatover for 2 for Benjamin. Jeff comes back, suplex is countered into an inverted DDT for another near fall! Shelton is getting frustrated. He goes for another cover and gets 2. Into the corner, Jeff goes to the apron and Benjamin hits the turnbuckle. Benjamin leaps to the top but gets knocked off! SWANTON BOMB! ONE…TWO…THREE!

Winner: Jeff Hardy

They aired a video package on the Diva Search contestants playing volleyball in bikinis. Blondes vs. brunettes in Jerry Lawler's dream world. Todd Grisham did a voice-over on WWE.com being the exclusive home for the diva search.

Backstage

They cut to Vince McMahon sitting in his limo pouting. Coach stormed into the limo and told McMahon to come out and play. McMahon said he's only concerned with his feelings of embarrassment. Coach said he has a plan set to make sure McMahon never has to worry about anything again. They panned out to show Hornswoggle munching on a box of Lucky Charms while taped up inside an infant's chair. McMahon told Coach that it's the law to have some sort of restraint for an infant. Hornswoggle tried to break free from the chair, then McMahon shoved him out the limo door with Coach. McMahon kicked the infant's chair away in frustration.

Later tonight, Cade & Murdoch face Triple H in a handicapped match.

Backstage:

Mr. Cena talked to John Cena about fighting Orton tonight. Pops told his son that he has to fight tonight.

Backstage:

Santino Marella pounded on the diva's locker room door and demanded to see Maria. Jillian Hall emerged and told Santino that Maria doesn't want to see him anymore. Santino dejectedly said he used to pleasure himself to that woman, which grossed out the live audience. Jillian then suggested they sing a duet tonight since they're in Nashville. Santino had other ideas and left Jillian in mid-sentence.

Backstage:

They showed Vince McMahon and Coach walking around looking for Hornswoggle, who got away. Suddenly, there was loud generic cartoon music in the hallway. McMahon walked into his office to find all sorts of green decorations and boxes of Lucky Charms stacked against the wall. They showed a Notre Dame Fighting Irish logo on the wall. Not a good week for that. McMahon told Coach to find Hornswoggle now. Suddenly, Hornsowggle popped out behind his CW Title belt and threw decorations at Coach and McMahon. Coach then chased Hornswoggle out of the office into the hallway. Suddenly, a small horse with a pole attached to its forehead appeared off camera and nudged up against McMahon. And the generic music continued to play into break.

Flag Match
Daivari vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Daivari goes up quickly but gets caught and thrown from the top. Rights and a slam by Hacksaw. He goes up but gets stopped. Daivari goes to the knee of Duggam and now fires off with rights. Kicks to the knee now. He tries to go up but Duggan pulls him away. Daivari kicks him off and goes up, but Hacksaw recovers and drags himn down, crotching him on the top. Duggan clubs away at Daivari. Duggan goes up, Daivari to the apron and tries to stop him. They exchange blows and Daivari gets sent to the floor! Duggan gets the flag and wins it!

Winner: Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Backstage:

Cody Rhodes is with Jonathan Coachman and he wants to face Randy Orton instead of John Cena’s father. Coachman thanks Cody for offering but he will let Cody know if his services are needed. Coach walks in the hall and Cena stops Coachman. He tells Coach to call off the match because he will not be responsible for what happens to Orton or anyone else, even Coach. Coach tells Cena that he has a match. Coach says that if Cena wins, the match between Orton and his father will not take place. If Cena loses, the match will happen. Coach tells Cena that his father’s fate is in his hands. Coach walks away.

In the Arena:

Vince McMahon walked out looking quite upset and Ross said McMahon is smiling as much as Charlie Weis these days. McMahon said he doesn't want people to think he's ashamed of his son, so he's going to welcome his son into his family. Hornswoggle then danced out and McMahon cracked a smile. McMahon become agitated when Hornswoggle wouldn't stop dancing, then he said he has something to say to him. He got down on one knee and addressed Hornswoggle face-to-face. McMahon said that when he dies - well, if he dies - Hornswoggle is going to come into a lot of money. McMahon said it's not all about money; it's about love and compassion. He said it's not just about money, so he's going to open his heart to Hornswoggle and put him up for adoption. Hornswoggle didn't agree, so McMahon screamed it out. McMahon then brought out Alice and Ed Koskie as the new parents.

A random couple and a generic attorney walked out with the Koskies to sign the paperwork. McMahon said it's a very special moment for everyone. Mr. Koskie said they've been waiting years for a little boy. McMahon then shoved Hornswoggle into Mr. Koskie for a big hug, then Hornswoggle pantsed his father and gave him a big splash. (McMahon probably had a chuckle thinking of the writer Ed Koskie.) Mr. Koskie pulled up his pants and rolled out of the ring, then Hornswoggle gave Mrs. Koskie a shark bite on the back side. She scrammed with her husband and left in fear. McMahon then cut a promo on Hornswoggle. He screamed at him to get out of his life and go back into hiding. Hornswoggle rolled out of the ring and started to cry, then the fans let McMahon have it with boos and an asshole chant. He said there isn't a person in the audience who wouldn't have done the same thing. McMahon said a man of his distinction... Triple H's music interrupted before McMahon could continue.

Hunter walked out dressed to wrestle and he approached McMahon with a non-approving look on his face. McMahon asked what he's doing out here, then he screamed at Hunter and the fans when Hunter wouldn't answer. McMahon said he was about to have a tender moment with his son, but Hunter interrupted. Hunter said he went through a lot of trouble today decorating McMahon's office. McMahon did the big eyes of shock look. He then asked McMahon if he realizes how hard it is to find a unicorn in Nashville. Cheap pop. Hunter said he understands that McMahon is upset because he's the genetic jackhammer, but along the way, McMahon had a little too much Jack...Daniels, he forgot to jack...off, and now he's the genetic jack...ass. Hunter said he's surprised McMahon didn't see this coming, as McMahon has a microscopic penis. How would he know? McMahon, agitated asked if he's finished. Hunter said that's the same line Hornswoggle's mom used when McMahon slipped her the shillelagh. He then wanted to know if McMahon nailed Hornswoggle's mom on the yellow brick road or in Smurf village. More penis jokes from Hunter, which irritated McMahon. He said he's done fooling around and has one more serious question. Hunter asked if Hornsowggle's mom was magically delicious. McMahon nodded his head slightly to answer yes, which took Hunter aback. McMahon then reminded Hunter that he has bigger problems, as he's in a match right now. McMahon brought out the tag champions to face Hunter, who didn't look impressed.

Murdoch beats The Game down in the corner with right hands. Hard Irish whip. Overcastle/blockbuster by Murdoch. Cade tagged in now. Elbows to the skull of Triple H, an elbow drop gets 2. Carlito yells at Cade and Murdoch for leaving but then he realizes that Hunter is behind him. Hunter with a spinebuster to Carlito and Carlito leaves the ring. London and Kendrick want Hunter to shake his hand and he does it, before he kicks London and gives Kendrick a pedigree. Pedigree time for Paul London.

Beth Phoenix was ringside subtly twisting around in her black outfit. She did not look happy. They recapped Candice Michelle pulling out the victory against Beth last night at the PPV to retain the Women's Title.

After the match, Orton kicks and punches Cena. Cena stomps on Cena’s chest and then he handcuffs Cena’s hand to the ropes.

Coach comes out and he tells Cena that there is a misunderstanding. Cena won by disqualification, but Cena needed to win by pinfall or submission. That means that since it did not happen, the match between Randy Orton and Cena’s father will happen and it is next. We go to commercial.
