WWE SmackDown Results - 02/09/07

Now that we know the main event from the Smackdown brand for Wrestlemania, it is time to get the final push for No Way Out. What will happen now that the two teams in the main event are going to be opponents at Wrestlemania? Will Ken Kennedy defeat Batista to throw a monkey wrench in the plans? What will the Undertaker do as he prepares for Wrestlemania? Will Gregory Helms continue his more than one year reign as the Cruiserweight Champion? Will London and Kendrick continue to hold the tag titles or have they met their match from the era of Happy Days? Will we see the Boogeyman continue to terrorize Little Bastard?

We start off with a video package looking back at the Undertaker’s victory at the Royal Rumble over Shawn Michaels. Who would the Undertaker choose as the person who would be putting his title on the line against him in Detroit? We see Taker confront all three champions. Then we go to Monday night where the Undertaker chose Batista and then choke slam the Animal.

We are live on tape from Omaha, Nebraska and your announcers are Michael ‘Flank Steak’ Cole and John ‘T-Bone’ Layfield.

We see footage from last month when Mike Mizanin was telling Ashley and Layla about his match with the Undertaker where Taker could not eliminate him to win the Beat the Clock Challenge.

Match Number One: Undertaker versus Mike Mizanin

Mizanin avoids Taker as the bell rings, but he gets cornered and Taker with a kick and punch. Taker works on the arm and then he goes Old School. Taker with a flatline but he pulls up Mizanin at two. Taker rubs his forearm across Mizanin’s face and Mizanin goes outside the ring. Taker chases after Mizanin. Mizanin kicks Taker as Taker returns to the ring. Taker with a big boot to Mizanin followed by an elbow drop. Taker with a kick to Mizanin’s head and then he slams Mizanin’s head into the turnbuckle. Taker with an Irish whip but he charges into a boot. Mizanin with kicks and punches to Taker and Taker shakes it off. It is now Taker’s turn to punch Mizanin. Taker with an Irish whip followed by snake eyes and a big boot as he comes off the ropes. Taker with a leg drop and then he sets up for the choke slam. Taker hits the choke slam and then he hits the tombstone piledriver for the three count.

Winner: Undertaker

After the match, Taker rearranges the announce table and then he pulls Mizanin outside the ring. Taker hits the Last Ride on Mizanin through the announce table. We go to commercial.

We are back and we are told that Rey Mysterio will be back in two weeks when Smackdown is in San Diego. Cole and Bradshaw talk about Rey’s condition and Bradshaw says that Rey is done.

Before the match we are told that we will have a rematch of the four way ladder match for the Tag Titles at No Way Out.

Match Number Two: Deuce and Domino (with Cherry) versus Paul London and Brian Kendrick (with Ashley Massaro)

Kendrick and Deuce start things off. Deuce with a kick and forearm followed by a slam attempt that Kendrick escapes. Deuce with a crescent kick and Domino is tagged in. Domino with a forearm to Kendrick’s back. Domino with knees to Kendrick’s head and then he tags in Deuce for the cover. Deuce with a short arm clothesline to Kendrick for a two count. Deuce with a knee to Kendrick’s head and then he knocks London off the apron before covering Kendrick. Deuce with a choke and forearm to the back. Kendrick with forearms to Deuce, but Deuce with a jumping kick to Kendrick for a two count that is broken up by London. Domino tags in and he hits a leg drop for a two count. Kendrick with kicks to the head and Deuce is tagged back in. London is able to make the tag and he hits a series of forearms on Deuce and then he knocks Domino off the apron. London hits a dropsault and spinning heel kick to Deuce. London with a drop kick that knocks Domino off the apron. London with a rana for a two count. London ducks a clothesline and he hits a jumping leg lariat. London goes up top and Kendrick knocks Domino off the apron. Kendrick misses a pescado. Deuce is able to stop London and he slams him from the top turnbuckle. Domino tags in and he hits a double sledge while Deuce hits a modified Diamond Cutter for the three count. We go to commercial.

Winners: Deuce and Domino

We are back and Maryse welcomes us back to Smackdown.

Cole and Bradshaw talk about the issues between King Booker and Kane. We see footage of King Booker being eliminated by Kane only to see Kane get eliminated by King Booker. We move to last week’s ceremony where King Booker received the key to the City of Houston only to be interrupted by Kane.

We see King Booker and Queen Sharmell in Thaddeus Long’s office. King Booker wants to know what Long is going to do about what Kane did last week during his ceremony. Booker says that he wants a public apology and restitution. Booker says that spend money on a suit while Sharmell broke a nail. Booker wants Kane banned from his Smackdown kingdom. Thaddeus says that Kane will not be banned and he is sick of Booker’s whining. Long makes a match for No Way Out between Kane and King Booker. King Booker is not happy with that announcement.

We see footage from last week when Joey Mercury interfered in Matt Hardy’s match against Mike Mizanin to help Mizanin get the victory over Hardy.

Match Number Three: Matt Hardy versus Joey Mercury

Hardy with a kick and punches to Mercury at the start of the match and then Hardy chokes Mercury in the ropes. Hardy with a running clothesline to Mercury for a near fall. Mercury tries to get out of the ring but Hardy pulls him back in. Hardy with an Irish whip followed by a running clothesline into the corner and a bulldog for a near fall. Hardy tries to take off Mercury’s mask, but Mercury is able to keep it on. Hardy holds on to the ropes and Mercury charges at him and Mercury is back body dropped over the top rope to the floor. Hardy with a pescado and then he returns to the ring as we go to commercial.

We are back and Hardy is still in control of the match as he works on Mercury’s face. Hardy slaps and punches Mercury. Hardy pulls Mercury out of the corner and he hits a sit out powerbomb for a two count. Mercury with forearms to Hardy followed by an Irish whip. Mercury runs into an elbow and Hardy goes up the turnbuckles but Mercury pulls Hardy off the turnbuckles and Hardy appears to have injured his leg. Mercury works on Hardy’s knee and leg on the ropes and apron. Hardy punches Mercury to get Mercury to stop working on the leg, but it is momentary as Mercury hits a clip to the back of Hardy’s leg. Mercury slams Hardy’s head into the turnbuckles and punches Matt. Mercury returns to the leg as he kicks it in the ropes. Mercury mocks Hardy as he returns to the leg. Mercury undoes one of Hardy’s boots but Hardy returns to his feet. Mercury with a drop kick to the injured leg. The boot is removed and then Mercury with a series of moves that work on the knee and ankle. Mercury puts Hardy’s foot on the ropes as Mercury goes up top. Hardy gets up and he punches Mercury. Hardy with a superplex and both men are down. Hardy sends Mercury out of the ring as Mercury continues to work on the leg. Hardy with punches and forearms followed by a bulldog for a two count. Mercury with a shoulder in the corner but he charges into a boot. Hardy with a leg drop from the second turnbuckle for a two count. Hardy sets for the Twist of Fate but Mercury with a kick to the leg. Hardy tries for a Side Effect but Mercury counters with a rollup for the three count. We go to commercial.

Winner: Joey Mercury

We are back and Ken Kennedy comes to the ring and he takes his mic as he addresses the crowd. He tells everyone that later on tonight; he faces Batista for the World Title. Since Monday, all he has been hearing is that the main event at Wrestlemania will be Batista versus the Undertaker. The title versus the streak. Kennedy says a match that huge on a stage that grand has people buzzing. Kennedy says that he is the buzz kill. Kennedy says that since he beat both men on several occasions, why isn’t he in this match. It is because he is being overlooked. How dare the people overlook him. How dare the Undertaker overlook him. Taker might have thought that he was choosing Batista, but Taker is really choosing him because he will defeat Batista for the title. Kennedy says that he should have won the title at the Royal Rumble. He asks Batista if that is right. He says that Batista can walk around with his million dollar body and air of confidence, but everyone knows that Kennedy had him pinned. Kennedy says that he deserves to be the champion. Since he has done it many times before. He guarantees that tomorrow when Batista goes home, his bags will be a lot lighter. Meanwhile, Kennedy’s bags will be a lot heavier. Kennedy says that it makes him sick that Batista is walking around with his title and that Batista calls himself a World Champion. Kennedy says that he would call Batista a fraud. He says that there is nothing . . .

Batista comes to the ring and he attacks Kennedy. Batista follows Kennedy out of the ring where the officials try to separate both men on the floor. Kennedy moves out of the way as Batista runs into the ring post. Kennedy escapes into the crowd as we go to commercial.

We are back with the Slam of the Week: Boogeyman appearing during the Benoit/Finlay match as he terrorizes Little Bastard.

Match Number Four: Boogeyman versus Fit Finlay

Boogeyman avoids Finlay when Finlay wants to lock up and Boogeyman frustrates Finlay. Finlay with a head butt and Finlay feels it more than Boogeyman. Boogeyman slams Finlay’s head into the apron before they return to the ring. Finlay sends Boogeyman into the ropes and then he hits a clothesline followed by elbow drops. Finlay with a reverse chin lock and then he connects with forearms, but Boogeyman shakes them off. Finlay with a short arm clothesline and then Finlay goes to the second turnbuckle and he is met with a boot. Boogeyman with punches to Finlay followed by clotheslines and double thrusts. Boogeyman with a powerslam to Finlay. Boogeyman with a clothesline followed by a splash to Finlay. Boogeyman with an Irish whip and a running butt splash in the corner. Finlay with a punch and kick, but he comes off the ropes and is met with a big boot. Little Bastard comes out but Boogeyman grabs Little Bastard. Boogeyman pulls out worms but Finlay hits Boogeyman in the leg with the shillelagh after the referee gets Little Bastard out of the ring and distracts him.

Winner: Fit Finlay

After the match we see Little Bastard run to the back as he continues to scream. We go to commercial.

We are back with an earlier tonight moment of Taker defeating Mike Mizanin and then giving him the Last Ride through the announce table.

Match Number Five: Khosrow Daivari versus Gregory Helms

Daivari with a waist lock and then he pushes Helms. Helms slaps Daivari and then he punches Daivari in the corner. Daivari punches Helms and chops him. Helms throws Daivari over the top rope to the floor. Helms with a forearm to Daivari on the floor before rolling Daivari back into the ring. Helms goes up top, but Daivari hits the ropes and Helms goes down. Daivari kicks Helms in the back and then he hits a forearm to the kidneys for a near fall. Daivari with a knee to Helms back and then he has Helms in a rear chin lock. Helms punches Daivari but Daivari with a knee to Helms’s back. Helms and Daivari exchange punches until Helms gets the advantage with a knee. Daivari with a back breaker to Helms and then he goes up top but Daivari misses a leg drop when Helms moves out of the way. Helms with a clothesline and he punches Daivari. Helms with a modified Unprettier for a two count. Helms with an uppercut but he misses a clothesline. Helms with a back breaker from a uranage for a two count. Daivari backs Helms into the corner. Helms with a rollup using the trunks, but Daivari is able to reverse it and he gets the three count with some help from the ropes.

Winner: Khosrow Daivari

Maryse tells us to continue to watch Smackdown as we go to commercial.

We are back with a Wrestlemania Recall: Kane giving Pete Rose a Tombstone at Wrestlemania 14.

Kristal Marshall is in the HollaOffice with Teddy Long as she talks about Jillian Hall’s musical performance last week. Kristal says that she has the opportunity to model for Victoria’s Secret. Kristal wants to get Teddy’s opinion of how she looks. Kristal takes off her robe and Teddy likes. Jillian comes in the office and she is singing. Jillian says that she wants to tryout for American Idol to showcase her talent. Teddy has an idea for a Diva Talent Invitational at No Way Out.

It is time to run through the card for No Way Out:

Paul London and Brian Kendrick versus William Regal and Dave Taylor versus Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro versus Matt and Jeff Hardy for the WWE Tag Titles in a ladder match

Kane versus King Booker

Fit Finlay versus Boogeyman

John Cena and Shawn Michaels versus Batista and Undertaker

Diva Talent Invitational

We have the Slam of the Week: Undertaker choosing Batista as his opponent at Wrestlemania

Match Number Six: Ken Kennedy versus Batista for the World Title

Kennedy with a kick as he back pedals from Batista. Kennedy goes for the taped arm, but Batista throws him down. Kennedy and Batista exchange forearms. Kennedy tries to stay close to the ropes so Batista cannot use his strength advantage. Kennedy with an eye poke and then he kicks Batista in the corner. Kennedy slams Batista’s head into the turnbuckle followed by a forearm. Batista with a boot to Kennedy and then he hits a back breaker for a two count. Batista with a knee to Kennedy’s chest followed by punches. Batista with a running clothesline into the corner followed by shoulders in the corner. Kennedy with a kick to Batista’s injured arm followed by a divorce court as we go to commercial.

We are back and Kennedy covers Batista and gets a two count. They battle outside and Kennedy is sent into the apron by Batista. Kennedy returns the favor as he throws Batista into the ring steps. Kennedy rolls Batista back in and he uses the ropes for leverage on the cover. Kennedy goes up top but Batista punches Kennedy. As Kennedy goes to the floor, he grabs Batista’s arm and drops it on the top rope. Kennedy hits the Kenton Bomb for a two count. Kennedy with a key lock on Batista as he continues to work on Batista’s injured arm. Batista gets Kennedy up and hits a Samoan Drop, but Kennedy holds on to Batista’s arm and he keeps the key lock on Batista and he adds a head scissors. Batista with a shoulder tackle but it is Batista’s injured shoulder. Kennedy falls out of the ring and he grabs the belt and he hits Batista in the head with it while the referee was out of position. Kennedy with a bicycle kick for a two count. Kennedy kicks Batista in the corner and then he hits a running boot across Batista’s face. Batista with an Irish whip but Kennedy with a drop kick to Batista’s knee. Kennedy hits the rolling fireman’s carry slam but Batista pops up and hits a spinebuster and Batista gets a two count. Batista punches Kennedy and then both men exchange punches. Batista with a clothesline followed by a back body drop and running clothesline. Batista hits a running power slam followed by three spinebusters and Batista Bomb for the three count.

Winner: Batista

After the match, the Undertaker rises from the stage next to the Fist-o-Tron. We go to credits.
