WWE Smackdown! Opener:

We are live on tape from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and your announcers are Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield.

Matt Hardy and Chris Benoit vs. Montell Vontavious Porter and Finlay


The start:

Finlay and Benoit start things off and they battle into the corner and around the ring in a collar and elbow tie up. Finlay with a forearm but Benoit responds with one of his own. Porter tags in and they lock up with Porter getting a side head lock followed by a shoulder tackle. Porter blocks a hip toss and tries for a clothesline but Benoit ducks and tries to put Porter in the Crippler Crossface. Hardy tags in and he hits a back elbow and elbow drop for a near fall.

Mid-match notes:

Benoit tags back in and he connects with a series of forearms and head butts. Porter with kicks and forearms to Benoit. Porter is pulled out of the corner by the referee and that gives Benoit the chance to regain control of the match. Benoit hits a Northern Lights suplex and gets a near fall but Finlay breaks up the cover. Hardy is tagged back in and he connects with forearms to the back and a neck breaker for a two count. Porter with a knee and forearm and he tags in Finlay. Finlay with a forearm to the back but Hardy with a punch and Benoit tags back in. Benoit with chops to Finlay followed by a kick that knocks Finlay out of the ring. Benoit tries for a baseball slide but Finlay moves out of the way. Benoit with a snap suplex on the floor before he returns to the ring. Hornswoggle appears from under the ring and he tells Finlay something before we go to commercial. We are back and Benoit hits a belly-to-back suplex on Finlay and then he tags Hardy back into the match. Hardy with elbows to Finlay followed by an Irish whip, running clothesline into the corner, and bulldog.

Hardy with a side head lock but Finlay is able to get to his corner and Porter is tagged in. Porter with kicks and then he distracts the referee to allow Finlay to kick Hardy. Porter with forearms to Hardy for a near fall. Hardy with a Side Effect but Finlay breaks up the cover. Hardy goes to the second turnbuckle for a screaming elbow to Porter and he gets a two count. Porter takes Hardy into the corner and he punches Hardy but Hardy responds with a punch of his own. Porter puts Hardy on the turnbuckles and Porter sets for a super belly-to-back suplex but Hardy knocks Porter off the turnbuckle and Hardy hits a moonsault for a two count. Hardy with a side head lock while favoring one leg. Porter rolls into Hardy’s knee and gets a near fall. Finlay is tagged back in and he kicks Hardy in the knee as he works on the injured knee. Finlay with a single leg crab and Hardy gets to the ropes. Finlay returns to the leg after breaking the hold. Finlay with an Indian Death Lock on Hardy and Porter is tagged in and he goes to the leg.

The Finish:

Hardy tries to get to Benoit but Porter stops Matt before he can make the tag. Hardy with an enzuigiri and then he makes the tag. Benoit with a double sledge to Finlay followed by a kick and back body drop. Benoit with the Hat Trick German suplex combination and then he knocks Porter off the apron. Benoit goes up top but he misses the diving head butt. Benoit with a dragon screw leg whip and cover with bridge for the three count.

Winners - Chris Benoit and Matt Hardy

In the arena:

Cole and Bradshaw talks about the rivalry between Taker and Batista and they discuss the steel cage match that will happen later tonight. We take a look back at the seeds of this feud with a video package starting with the night that Taker made his choice for Wrestlemania.

Michelle McCool vs. Jillian Hall


We are back and Jillian Hall is in the ring and she is ‘singing’.

The start:

Jillian backs Michelle into the corner and she slaps Michelle but Michelle with a take down and the ladies battle on the mat. Jillian with a snap mare to Michelle and then she tries to punch Michelle but Michelle moves out of the way and Michelle trips Jillian. Michelle with a rear chin lock but Jillian makes it to the ropes.

Mid-match notes:

Jillian with a take down and she tries to use the ropes on the cover but Michelle kicks out of the cover. Jillian chokes Michelle in the ropes and kicks her in the back. Jillian with a cartwheel into an elbow for a two count. Jillian continues with a reverse chin lock on Michelle. Michelle with a rollup for a two count. Michelle and Jillian with forearms but Michelle with the advantage.

The Finish:

Michelle with a back elbow followed by a suplex and she gets a near fall. Jillian with a kick to Michelle but Michelle responds with a belly-to-belly suplex for a two count. Jillian with a handspring back elbow into the corner. Michelle with a back breaker for the three count.

Winner - Michelle McCool

Backstage:

We go to the Office where Kristal is loosening the tension in Teddy Long’s neck. Teddy talks about his search for an assistant and how it has been a nightmare. Some are overqualified and some are under qualified and some don’t get it. Kristal says that she has an idea but she is interrupted by a knock on the door. A new tag team enters and they say that they are looking forward to putting fisticuffs on Smackdown after driving all the way from West Virginia . Teddy says that he is familiar with their work and they need more superstars like them. They say that they want to wrestle tonight. Teddy says that he is busy with interviewing people for the assistant position, but if they can get to Baltimore next week, they will have a match. Teddy seems happy with the Dalton boys. Kristal returns to the massage and suggests Vickie Guerrero. Teddy says that you cannot trust a Guerrero because they lie and cheat. Before he can say that Guerreros steal, Kristal tells Teddy that Vickie is her best friend and she has been through a lot. Kristal says that Vickie lost the one person who she loved more than anything. Kristal says that if she lost Teddy she would not know what to do. Teddy says that he loves Kristal more than anything in the world and he does not know what he would do if he lost her. Teddy says that he will give Vickie a chance next week, but it will be an interview.

Ashley:

We segue to someone who is doing a little better and that is Ashley Massaro. Michael asks Ashley about how she feels after having a bone in her foot broken by Jillian Hall. Ashley is feeling better and it feels like it has been a few months instead of a few weeks that she has been gone. Cole asks Ashley she bounces back and Ashley says that she stays positive and music plays an important role in motivating her. Cole asks Ashley what songs motivate her. Ashley says that Rage Against the Machine motivates her, but she wants to get back into the ring to beat the hell out of Jillian Hall. Cole brings up Paul London and Brian Kendrick and Cole asks about how she felt about them losing the tag titles. Ashley says that they are a great team and they will get back to the top soon. Ashley says that Paul and Brian have been super supportive and told her to make it on her own so that is what she is going to do.

Paul London vs. Domino


The start:

Domino dives at London but Paul moves out of the way. London blocks a kick and he responds with kicks of his own. Domino pushes London away but London is right back on top of Domino until Domino kicks London. London with a drop kick that sends Domino out of the ring. London goes to the apron and he tries for a moonsault but he lands on his feet when Domino moves out of the way.

Mid-match notes:

The action returns to the ring and Domino with kicks to London . Domino with a snap mare and knee for a near fall. Domino with a cobra clutch on London followed by a slam and then he goes to the turnbuckles and London gets his boot up to block Domino. Domino is able to stop short and he rolls London over. London with a rollup for a two count. London with another rollup for a two count. London tries for a backslide but Domino does not go over. London hits a flapjack. London with a clothesline and a running forearm and reverse atomic drop followed by a rana.

The Finish:

London with a drop kick to Domino and Deuce gets on the apron to try to distract London. London is able to hit a spinning heel kick on Domino. Deuce gets on the apron again but Kendrick grabs Deuce. London hits a dropsault on Deuce on the apron and he lands on Domino for the three count.

Winner - Paul London

Slam of the Week:

We are back with the Slam of the Week: Regal and Taylor costing Kane his shot at the United States Title in his match against MVP.

Kane vs. David Taylor


The start:

Kane with punches and knees to Taylor at the start of the match. Kane chokes Taylor with his boot and then he slams Taylor followed by an elbow drop. Taylor goes outside the ring and Kane follows after him. Kane punches Taylor followed by an Irish whip but Taylor gets his boots up. Regal grabs Kane’s foot but that does not prevent Kane from connecting with an elbow followed by a big boot.

Mid-match notes:

Kane chases after Regal on the floor and back into the ring and that allows Taylor to blindside Kane with an elbow. Taylor with a key lock to Kane. Taylor with uppercuts while Kane responds with punches. Kane with an Irish whip and running clotheslines into the corner followed by the side slam and then he goes up top for the flying clothesline.

The Finish:

Regal gets on the apron to distract Kane but Little Booger grabs his leg and that brings Regal off the apron. Regal starts to chase Little Booger around the ring but Boogeyman with a clothesline. Kane hits the clothesline from the top turnbuckle and then he sets for the choke slam and hits it for the three count.

Winner - Kane

The Aftermath:

After the match, Kane celebrates in the ring with Boogeyman and Little Booger. The pyro goes off in the ring and Little Booger is startled.

In the arena:

Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the front row. We then go to highlights of the Last Man Standing Match at Backlash.

Batista vs. The Undertaker (c)


The start:

The cage door is locked and the bell rings. They lock up to a stalemate when they get to the ropes. Taker with punches to Batista but Batista responds with punches of his own. Taker with a big boot for a two count. Taker with a boot to the head followed by a punch and then he starts to work on Batista’s leg. Taker with a slam but he misses an elbow drop. Batista with a punch followed by a short arm clothesline for a two count. Batista sets for a power bomb, but Taker punches Batista’s injured leg. Taker with an elbow to the knee as he continues to work on the leg.

Mid-match notes:

Taker puts Batista on the top turnbuckle and punches Batista. Taker sets for a superplex but Batista punches Taker off the turnbuckles. Batista hits a flying shoulder tackle from the top turnbuckle but he can only get a two count. Batista goes for the door but Taker clips Batista and we go to commercial. We are back and Taker is trying to climb over the top of the cage while Batista holds on to his leg. Taker kicks Batista off and then Taker returns to the mat. Taker punches Batista but Batista gets on top of Taker and punches him. Batista with a low kick to Taker and then he kicks Taker. Batista with shoulders in the corner followed by an Irish whip and running clothesline into the corner. Batista climbs the cage but Taker stops the challenger and Batista is crotched on the top rope. Taker has Batista on the apron and then he hits a big boot. Batista punches Taker and then each man goes down because of a double clothesline. We go to commercial. We are back and Batista with a kick for a two count. Batista slams Taker’s head into the turnbuckles.

They exchange punches but Batista with a clothesline for a two count. Taker returns to the injured leg with a punch and kick. Taker hits a running clothesline into the corner. Taker with snake eyes followed by the big boot and he sets for the choke slam. Taker hits the choke slam but he can only get a two count. Taker sets for the tombstone but Batista gets out of the hold and he tosses Taker into the steel cage. We go to commercial. We are back and Batista hits a spinebuster for a two count. Batista with the punches of ten but he stops at six and he tries to climb over Taker, but Taker hits Last Ride on Batista for a two count. Taker calls for the door and he crawls out of the cage but Batista pulls him back in. Taker puts Batista on the top turnbuckle and they fight on the top rope and Taker is knocked to the mat.

The Finish:

Batista gets to the top of the cage and Taker sits up. They are both on the top of the cage and they go to the floor. It appears that Taker got to the floor first as the bell rings to end the match. The referees discuss who won the match and they ask for a replay. We see the replay and both men hit the floor at the same time. The match is declared a draw and Taker retains the title.

Winner - Draw, still World Heavyweight Champion, the Undertaker

The Aftermath:

After the match, Mark Henry comes to the ring and he punches the Undertaker and slams his head into the ring steps. Henry punches Taker and runs his back into the ring post. They battle into the ring and Henry hits a clothesline on Taker followed by two splashes in the ring. Edge comes out and he has his briefcase with him. Edge gives the case to the referee and wants the bell rung.

World Heavyweight Championship Match

Edge vs. The Undertaker (c)


Edge tries to get the quick victory with a cover but Taker kicks out. Taker tries to sit up but he cannot get up. Edge sets for the spear and he hits it on Taker for the three count.

Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge

The Aftermath:

Edge returns to the ring and he hits Taker with the briefcase as we go to credits.
