WWE Smackdown! Results - 12/21/07

We are live on tape from Rochester, New York and your announcers are John ‘Save Yourself’ Layfield and Michael ‘Jack Benny’ Cole.
We start off tonight with Driving Miss Vickie as Teddy ‘Hoke’ Long pushes her to the ring. We take a look back at the main event from Armageddon when Taker thought that he won the title only to be tricked by Edge. We see the Rmy celebrate.
Teddy Long happily introduces the general manager of Smackdown, Vickie Guerrero. Vickie thanks everyone for their warm welcome as they boo her mercilessly. Vickie introduces the love of her life and new World Heavyweight Champion Edge.
Edge comes out and Teddy holds the belt for Edge. Vickie says that it is time for the official presentation of the title belt. Teddy says that on behalf of the general manager of Smackdown, he presents to Edge the World Title belt. Edge holds the belt and then he takes the mic. He says that there are so many people to thank. He thanks Teddy and says that he has settled in nicely to his new job. He thanks the EdgeHeads, his fans. He wants to thank two specific Edgeheads. Who emulates their heroes like Lebron James or the Canadian prime minister. The Majors come to the ring.
Edge says that they came here as the Majors Brothers. They did that to get noticed and signed on Smackdown. They wanted to make an impact and they saw the greatness of Edge and attached themselves to Edge. Edge wants them to tell everyone who they are. They introduce themselves as Kurt Hawkins, who goes over what he likes to do; and Zach Ryder, who also goes over his likes and dislikes. Edge says that there is one person he really needs to thank. Edge gets on his knees and says that she brought him back from the brink of retirement. She brought him back to be the champion that she is today. Edge says that she is the love of his life. We see a video package of Edge training to return to the ring with Vickie there to help him out. Edge says that there is one more man that he wants to thank and that is the man he will be defending the title against tonight, Batista. Batista did a great job as a fill-in champion. He does not have to worry about carrying Smackdown anymore because it is his job. The last image that everyone will see is Edge holding the title over his head. We go to commercial.
We are back and Michael Cole talks about how the band is breaking up since Bradshaw is leaving the announce booth. Bradshaw says that it is like the second clarinet and Pavarotti breaking up.
We see footage from Khali and Finlay’s match from Armageddon and Hornswoggle’s interference to help Finlay win.
Match Number One: Great Khali and Ranjin ‘Not so Great’ Singh versus Fit Finlay and Hornswoggle
Finlay and Khali start things off and Finlay avoids Khali but Khali sends Finlay into the corner and Khali with boots to Finlay. Finlay with a punch to Finlay’s head followed by a back elbow. Khali with a chop to Finlay followed by a big boot. Khali gets Finlay up for a slam and then he slams Finlay to the mat. Khali raises his arms for no reason and then Singh accidentally tags in. Hornswoggle comes up behind Singh and pantses him. Finlay sends Khali over the top rope to the floor. Finlay chases after Singh and then Hornswoggle has a bucket of water but it is confetti. Hornswoggle has an umbrella because Finlay’s bucket has water in it. Finlay with a giant swing and then Hornswoggle is tagged in for a frog splash for the three count.
Winners: Finlay and Hornswoggle
After the match, Finlay and Hornswoggle celebrate in the ring and then they throw hats into the crowd. We go to commercial.
We are back and we are told that next week’s Smackdown will be a Greatest Matches of 2007 Special.
Ric Flair comes to the ring and it is time to Woooo. Flair starts off by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas because he means it and it might be the final time that he can say it in a WWE ring. He thanks everyone in the locker room for showing him respect. Flair says that he has been wrestling for thirty-five years that he is the best in the business. All that mattered to him was to be the best. Now Vince McMahon has made it very clear to him and the fans that if Flair loses a match, his career is over. Flair says that it is okay because it has been a hell of a ride for thirty-five years. In ten days, he will be wrestling a man who is the greatest wrestler alive today, Triple H. Flair says the irony is that he has talked to everyone and when he was asked who he would like to have his final match against, it would be Triple H. When he returned to the WWE five years ago, he was not at the top of his game. Triple H reminded him that he was Ric Flair and he never made Flair forget that he had to be Ric Flair. What makes Triple H the best is that when he goes into the ring, Triple H will bring everything to the ring to beat him. Flair says that he does not want any sympathy. He expects Hunter to bring out the best in him. Flair says that if he is at his best, he will be hard to beat. Flair says that he loves Hunter as a brother. Flair says that if he loses to Triple H, he will have lost to the best. If that happens, he will have no regrets. We go to commercial.
We are back and so is Maryse who is sitting by a Christmas tree. She say it is so cold and she is glad that we are here watching Smackdown with her.
Match Number Two: Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and Kane versus Mark Henry, Montel Vontavious Porter, and Big Daddy V
Henry and Kane start things off and Henry backs Kane into the corner and then Henry punches Kane in the corner. Kane with punches to Henry. Henry with an Irish whip but he charges into an uppercut. Kane slams Henry’s head into the turnbuckle and Punk is tagged in. Punk with a drop kick into the corner and then he tries for a snap mare but Henry stays up. Henry backs Punk into the corner and Porter tags in and punches Punk followed by kicks. Porter with a side head lock to Punk. Porter with a shoulder tackle to Punk but Punk with a jumping leg lariat. Punk with an Irish whip and Punk with the running knee into the corner. Punk tries for the bulldog but Porter gets out of the hold. Porter misses the running boot into the corner and Punk with a series of rollups and near falls. All six men are in the ring and we go to commercial.
We are back and Punk and Porter try kicks but they block each other. Punk with punches and kicks to Porter and then Punk puts Porter in the corner and Rey is tagged in. Rey with a seated Senton Hart Attack followed by a snap leg drop for a near fall. Rey holds on to the ropes and he kicks Porter followed by a slingshot head scissors and Punk is tagged back in. Punk with a kick to the chest and he gets a near fall. Punk with an arm bar but Porter with a punch and Big Daddy V is tagged in. Punk avoids V and tries to take him down with flying forearms but Big Daddy V with a Bossman Slam and V walks across Punk’s chest. V with a chop in the corner and then V sends Punk into Henry. Henry tags in and he punches Punk. Henry with a kick to Punk’s chest. Porter tags in and he kicks Punk in the back and chest. Porter with punches to Punk and he gets a near fall. V tags back in and he presses Punk over his head and then he lets Punk go. Porter tags in and he kicks Punk in the back of the head and then he works on Punk’s arm with an arm bar. Porter with a drop toe hold to keep Punk from making the tag. Henry is tagged in and he connects with a head butt for a two count. Henry tosses Punk into the corner and then he kicks Punk in the chest. Punk tries to fight out of the corner but he cannot take care of all three men. Porter is tagged back in and he snap mares Punk followed by a rear chin lock. Punk with a jawbreaker to get out of the hold but he is unable to make the tag. Punk with an enzuigiri and then he makes the tag to Kane and Kane with punches to Porter. Kane with an Irish whip and two running clotheslines. Kane follows that with a side slam. Kane goes up top to finish off the Moves of Doom with the jumping clothesline. Kane sets for the choke slam and Big Daddy V comes in and Kane takes care of V. Rey is tagged in and Rey hits a moonsault for a two count. Kane and Big Daddy V fight at ringside while Rey sets for the 619 but Henry with a boot to Rey. Henry with an Irish whip but Henry misses a charge into the corner. Punk with a knee to Henry. Porter is sent outside the ring and Punk with a suicide dive. Henry is sent into the ropes and Rey with a 619 followed by a choke slam from Kane and a springboard frog splash for the three count.
Winners: CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, and Kane
We take a look back at the main event from Armageddon as we see the video package that aired earlier in the show. We go to commercial.
We are back with the Slam of the Week: Jamie Noble discussing his date with Michelle McCool if he goes three for three against Chuck Palumbo and the victory two weeks ago.
Michael Cole talks about the date that happened last week, but Bradshaw interrupts and reminds us that we will hear his farewell address.
We go to the date between Jamie Noble and Michelle McCool. Jamie gets close to Michelle at the table. Michelle orders some wine and Noble gets worried about the price of the wine. We go to later in the date and Noble says that his granny picked out the dress and he says that he cannot wait for his granny to meet Michelle. Jamie invites Michelle to visit his granny for Christmas. Noble orders for both of them and orders a lot of things with ‘french’ in the name. Noble argues with the waiter. Noble tells the waiter that he would be speaking German if we didn’t save their butts. Noble then says that the Romans gave us the Statue of Liberty, not the French. Noble says that Vikings told them that slavery was wrong. The waiter points out that they are an Italian restaurant and Noble sits down and drinks some of his Mer-Lot. We move ahead to the end of the meal and Noble gives Michelle an early Christmas present. Michelle opens the present and it is some Old Spice. Noble says that he is full of surprises. He says that he likes hunting and fishing. He says that he practices magic. Noble says that he is going to remove the tablecloth without anything moving on the table. Noble’s trick does not work out like he expected. Noble asks for the check and we go to commercial.
We are back with the Smack of the Night: Festus versus Mike Mizanin last week on Smackdown.
Match Number Three: Deuce with Domino and Cherry versus Festus with Jesse in a Santa Match
Festus punches Deuce as the bell rings and Redneck Santa attacks Greaser Santa. Deuce punches Festus but Festus pushes him off and slams Deuce. Domino distracts Festus and that allows Deuce to connect with knees and choke Festus. Festus punches Deuce and it turns into a side head lock. Deuce clips Festus and then he connects with a kick to the back of the head. Deuce works on Festus’s neck. Festus pushes Deuce off and then he connects with an elbow to the back of the head. Deuce throws Festus out of the ring and then Deuce drops Festus across the top rope and he gets a near fall with a cover. Deuce works on the neck. Deuce and Festus exchange punches and then Festus with a Kane-like uppercut. Festus with a running splash into the corner followed by a splash for a two count. Festus with a splash and Domino gets on the top turnbuckle. Jesse pushes Domino off the top turnbuckle to the floor and Festus hits the flapjack for the three count.
Winner: Festus
It is time for Bradshaw to make his big announcement as he leaves the announce table. We go to commercial.
We are back and it is time for Bradshaw’s Farewell Address. Bradshaw tells everyone to save their tickets stubs because this is a day that everyone will remember. This is the last day that Bradshaw will be on Smackdown. The good news is that in the spirit of Ben Hogan, Michael Jordan, and George Foreman; he will make the greatest comeback in history but not on Smackdown. Bradshaw says that he turned this show into the crown jewel of the WWE Empire and the cornerstone of the CW Network. When he comes back, it will be on Raw. It is because of what happened at Armageddon and we see footage of what Bradshaw did to Chris Jericho. Bradshaw says that when you play with fire, you get burned. On Monday night, Chris Jericho did not apologize. Bradshaw says that Jericho is not high on his list. Bradshaw talks about how Jericho tried to make a career on reality television and failed and Jericho called him irrelevant. How irrelevant will he be when he goes to Raw. He is not going to Raw to be part of the roster or to be a team player. He is going to Raw to do the only thing that he can do and that is headline pay per views and win championships. In three years, people will look back at Chris Jericho and ask him what the hell did he do? Why did he unleash JBL on him. Bradshaw says that he is coming for Jericho first. He says that he will be the only Wrestling God. We go to commercial.
We are back and Maryse is still decorating the tree as she welcome us back to Friday Night Smackdown.
Michael Cole is joined by Tazz at the announce table.
Match Number Four: Edge with Edge Rmy, Vickie Guerrero, and Chauffer Teddy Long versus Batista for the World Heavyweight Title
Before the match can begin, Vickie says that it is a three on one handicap match so Edge is joined by Kurt Hawkins and Zach Ryder. Hawkins starts with Batista and Batista sends him to the mat. Hawkins with a knee and forearms but Batista punches Hawkins. Batista with an Irish whip and running clothesline followed by shoulders and the punches of ten but Edge drops Batista on the top rope at nine. Ryder tags in and he punches Batista followed by kicks. Batista fights out of the corner and then he sets for the Batista Bomb but Edge hits Batista from behind. We go to commercial.
We are back and Edge is kicking Batista. Batista with punches to Edge as he tries to take control. Edge with a drop toe hold and elbow to the back. Edge with an elbow drop followed by a waist lock. Batista gets to his feet and he Irish whips Edge, but he misses a charge into the corner and hits the ring post. Edge with forearms to Batista followed by a punch. Edge with a kick to Batista but Batista with a Bossman slam for a two count. Ryder tags in and Batista with punches and an Irish whip followed by a running clothesline. Batista with a power slam to Ryder followed by a back body drop to Hawkins over the top rope and then he goes to the floor on a clothesline. Batista with a running shoulder tackle that knocks Edge off the apron. Ryder comes off the turnbuckles but Batista catches him and hits a spinebuster for a three count.
Winner: Batista
After the match, Vickie Guerrero says that she has an announcement. Vickie says that the only way that Batista can win the title is to beat Edge. Vickie tells them to start the match again. Batista grabs Edge and pulls him into the ring. Batista goes up top for a flying shoulder tackle. Batista throws Ryder over the top rope. Batista with a spinebuster and then he shakes the ropes. Batista sets for the Batista Bomb but Batista is hit from behind in the knee by a chair. Hawkins and Ryder hit a Double Impaler DDT onto the chair. They set for a conchairto on Batista and Edge hits Batista with it.
Edge gets on the mic and he tells everyone Merry Christmas and we go to credits.
