Report by: Carl Walsh of PowerWrestling.com

WWE Smackdown! Opener:

Smackdown opened up taking a look back to last week with Rey Mysterio winning the number one contenders tournament to earn the right to face the Great Khali for the World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven. The fireworks then went off in the arena for the start of the show as Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield welcome us to Cincinnati, Ohio! Tonight, Rey Mysterio takes on Chavo Guerrero in an I Quit Match, and Kane and Batista will team against the Great Khali and Finlay in a Saturday Night's Main Event rematch!

In the arena:

MVP's music is playing as he comes to the ring for the VIP Lounge. He welcomes us to the show as the United States Champion and one half of the Tag Team Champions, he's half a man, he's half amazing, he's Montel Vontavious Porter, he's MVP. He said not only is he the host tonight, but he is also the guest. He said the guests tonight are himself and Matt Hardy, the new WWE Tag Team Champions. With that, the music of Matt Hardy hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring as the other half of the Tag Team Champions. Matt takes a seat and MVP welcomes him to the VIP Lounge. MVP said he elevated Matt to championship status, because he is better than Matt Hardy. We see footage of last week with MVP stealing the win the Tag Title Match. Matt said that was incredible. Matt says he knows that everyone knows what went down in the match, but what everyone doesn't know is what happened backstage afterwards. We see footage of MVP on the phone with both Tag Titles, bragging about winning the titles by himself. Matt Hardy comes in and asks MVP who he thinks he is. MVP tells Matt to follow his lead because he is spectacular, and he has vision. Matt then decked MVP with a right hand and took his tag title belt, and asked MVP if he saw that coming. Back to the VIP Lounge and Matt says he kind of looked like Evander Holyfield there. He said maybe MVP should change his catchphrase to "Better than who?" Matt says he wants a one on one match for the United States Title at Unforgiven. MVP said he wishes that Matt told him that earlier. MVP then calls for a referee, and one comes running down. MVP said he doesn't want to fight with Matt. MVP said Deuce and Domino challenged them for the Tag Titles at Unforgiven, and he accepted that challenge as the team captain. MVP said he got Matt a match for tonight. MVP said he stands to make a lot of money, so with Matt being the guy he is, always up for a challenge, so he got him a match against Deuce as a warm up for Unforgiven. Matt Hardy doesn't look happy here, as he wanted a US Title Match at Unforgiven, and didn't want to be defending the Tag Titles there. They started clearing the set and this match is up next.

Tonight:

The Cruiserweight Title is on the line as Hornswoggle defends against Jamie Noble.

Referee: Charles Robinson
Matt Hardy vs. Deuce

The start:

The match is already underway as we come back from commercial, and Matt is wrestling in his jeans. Deuce is in control, working Matt over in the corner. Matt shoved Deuce off as Domino and Cherry look on at ringside. Deuce takes Matt down for a one count. Hardy sends Deuce head first to the corner as the fans chanted for Matt Hardy. Hardy hit a big clothesline for a two count and then locked in a side headlock. Deuce sent him to the ropes and went for a hip toss but Matt blocked and hit one of his own.

Mid-match notes:

Matt scored with a kick to the head, but then Deuce hung Hardy up in the ropes and covered for two. MVP is still ringside cheering Matt on. The fans are again chanting for Hardy as Deuce remains in control. Deuce locked in a head vice but Matt fights out. Deuce hit a big high elbow to the jaw and went for a fist drop and scored with it. Deuce locked in a rear chin lock, but Hardy again fought out, backing Deuce to the corner. Deuce came back with a right hand and then perched Matt on the top rope. Deuce hit more right hands and then went up for a superplex, but Matt hit some rights of his own, and knocked him down to the canvas. Matt came off the middle rope with an elbow to the back of the head, and then followed up with the side effect for a two count.

The Finish:

Matt sent Deuce to the corner and hit a running clothesline and went for a bulldog, but Deuce blocked and then both men clotheslined each other. Matt is up first and Domino got on the apron to distract Matt. MVP went over and pulled Domino off the apron. Deuce took Matt down and went for the Crack 'Em In The Mouth but Matt avoided it and then hit the Twist of Fate for the win.

Winner - Matt Hardy

The Aftermath:

MVP got in the ring and handed Matt his Tag Team Title as Matt Hardy is on a big time roll. They played up how Matt Hardy does all the work, but MVP thinks he's the captain.

Backstage:

Jamie Noble is shown backstage and Shannon Moore comes in. Shannon asks what he's doing. Jamie said he has made a Leprechaun trap. Noble has a box of lucky charms, and sprinkles them around on the floor, and then right under the trap, which is a box propped up with a 2X4. Jamie has a rope and as soon as he crawls under there, he'll pull the rope and he'll have caught a leprechaun! Shannon laughs and Jamie said he better not mess this up. Jamie and Shannon get into position waiting for Hornswoggle!

Referee: Mickey Hensen
The Great Khali and Finlay vs. Kane and Batista

The music of the Great Khali hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring as the World Heavyweight Champion, with Runjin Singh in his corner, and he will be teaming with Finlay here against Kane and Batista, in a rematch from Saturday Night's Main Event.

The start:

Mid-match notes:

Batista still has the side headlock and Finlay backs him to the corner. Batista continues to work over Finlay and backs him to the ropes. Batista unloaded with right hands and shoulders to the gut in the corner. Batista hoists up Finlay, and nails an atomic drop. Batista then catapulted Finlay into the Great Khali, but Khali didn't budge. Khali and Batista had words as we go to commercial. Back on Smackdown and Batista is still in control with right hands to Finlay. Kane gets the tag and nails an uppercut on Finlay, and then works him over in the corner with right hands. Finlay came back with a boot and went for an Irish whip but Kane blocked, and squashed Finlay in the corner. Kane hangs up Finlay in the ropes, and then nailed another uppercut for a one count. Kane sent Finlay head first to the corner, and then scored with a vertical suplex and covered for two. Kane sent Finlay to the corner and charged in, but Finlay moved and tagged in the Great Khali. Khali and Kane face off, and Kane unloads with right hands. Kane went to run the ropes, but Finlay pulled the top rope down, and Kane toppled down to the floor. Finlay hit a sick DDT on the outside as the referee was distracted with Khali. Kane managed to get back into the ring at the count of eight, and then Khali took over with a headbutt.

Khali hit a clothesline and then sent Kane head first to the corner. Khali hit an elbow in the corner, and Kane looks to be in trouble here. Finlay tagged in and he took over with stomps on Kane in the corner and then covered for a one count. Finlay hit a running kick to the head and then locked in a rear naked choke as the fans got behind the Big Red Machine. Kane is fighting back here, but then Finlay shoved him shoulder first into the ring post for a two count. Cruiserweight Championship Match

Jamie Noble vs. Hornswoggle (c)

The music of Hornswoggle hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring as the youngest, shortest and lightest Cruiserweight Champion of all time! The ring announcer announced Jamie Noble as the opponent, but he is nowhere to be found. They play his music a second time and still no Noble. The referee spoke to the ring announcer, and he is starting the match, and Noble has a count of ten to get to the ring or he will be counted out. The referee begins his count and Noble starts running down the aisle at nine but he can't make it in time! Hornswoggle wins by count out! Hornswoggle taunts Noble, and Noble gets in the ring and charges at him, but Hornswoggle threw down marbles, and Noble went flying! Hornswoggle has gotten the better of Jamie Noble yet again!

Winner by count out, and still Cruiserweight Champion, Hornswoggle

In the arena:

The Smackdown broadcast is interrupted as Michael Cole and JBL are plugging this Monday's RAW, and the feed is overtaken by the Undertaker return montage, with shots of Death Valley and the Undertaker standing tall once again. A gong then hits in the arena and the lights go purple, and there is a druid standing in the ring as Mark Henry's music hit. Henry gets into the ring and puts his hands on the druid. The lights then go out, and when they come back on, Henry is left holding the druids gown, minus the druid. The druid has vanished! We get more gongs and the lights turn purple again and Henry looks totally freaked out as we go to commercial.

Unforgiven:

We run down the card for Unforgiven.

I Quit Match
Referee: Jim Korderas
Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio

It's time for the I Quit Match as Chavo Guerrero makes his way down to the ring with a steel chair in hand. Chavo made this challenge, and he has to be looking to take Rey out in the same way that he did 11 months ago. Chavo gets on the mic and said he is holding a piece of Rey Mysterio's past, but it is also a piece of his future. He said it was a chair like this one that put Rey out for over a year. It was a chair like this that he smashed over his knee over and over again, and made Rey scream that he quits. Chavo said he asked for an I Quit Match, and he is going to smash Rey's hopes and dreams of becoming the World Champion at Unforgiven. Chavo said there will be no gold in his future, only cold hard steel. We go to commercial, and when we come back, Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring, looking for redemption and revenge, and we are set to go!

The start:

Rey and Chavo lock up and Rey unloads with right hands but Chavo comes back with some uppercuts to Rey. Chavo stomps at Rey and then choked him in the ropes. Chavo stomped Rey's knee and Rey rolled to the outside. The chanted that Chavo sucks as Rey got back into the ring. Rey kicks Chavo and then hits some right hands but then Chavo grabs a side headlock. Rey is on Chavo's shoulders and hits a huricanrana and then flipped Chavo to the outside of the ring.

Mid-match notes:

Chavo came back nailing Rey in the back, but then Rey kicked away at Chavo. Both men have chairs, and they joust with them. Chavo goes to hit Rey with the chair, but Rey moves, and then Rey sent Chavo head first into the announce table. Rey nailed Chavo with the chair on the floor, and then rammed it into Chavo's gut. Rey hit a huricanrana sending Chavo flying over the announce table. Rey nailed Chavo with the chair again, and then choked him with it on the announce table. The fans chanted 619 as Rey sent Chavo back into the ring. Chavo comes back with a release German suplex and then sent Rey shoulder first into the ring post. Chavo wrapped Rey's leg around the top rope and wrenched away at it. Chavo grabbed the chair and nailed Rey in the back with it.

Chavo stood the chair up in the ring and dragged Rey towards it, and then went for a move, but Rey reversed into a bulldog, sending Chavo head first into the chair! Rey wedged the chair between the top and middle rope, and then sent Chavo head first into it with a legsweep. Rey hit a 619 into the chair and the head of Chavo. Rey came off the top with a springboard to try and finish Chavo, but Chavo threw the chair at Rey in mid air as we go to commercial. Back on Smackdown and Chavo is in control with a single leg crab. Chavo has a chair and stands it up near the ropes. He stands another one next to it. Chavo goes for a powerbomb through the chairs but Rey fights out of it. Chavo slid Rey under the bottom rope, sternum first to the floor.

Chavo has a chair and nailed Rey in the knee with it. Chavo got Rey's head in the chair and rammed Rey right into the ring post. That looked sick. Chavo tossed Rey back into the ring and stands up another chair in the ring. Chavo went for a move, but Rey reversed, and then hit a drop toe hold on Chavo into the chair. Rey now has the chair and stands it up in the ring. Rey kicked Chavo right in the head and then went up top. Mysterio hit a seated senton off the top onto Chavo and the chair. Rey nailed Chavo in the back with the chair, but then Chavo came back and nailed the Gory Bomb right into the chair! Rey refuses to quit.

The Finish:

Chavo nailed Rey in the knee with the chair again, and then laid it on top of him. Chavo went up top, but Rey popped up and crotched Chavo. Rey hit some right hands to Chavo and then grabbed the chair and knocked Chavo right in the head with it. Chavo is caught in the ropes, hanging on the outside of the ring. Rey unloaded on the knee of Chavo with the steel chair as Chavo is screaming in pain. Chavo quits!

Winner - Rey Mysterio

The Aftermath:

Rey Mysterio celebrated his huge win, and he gets revenge on Chavo Guerrero one year in the making! The music of the World Heavyweight Champion then hit as the Great Khali made his way to the ring, and Rey Mysterio faces this man in just over a week. Rey runs at Khali with a dropkick but then runs into a big boot from Khali. Khali stalked Rey Mysterio and put him in the head vice. Khali picks Rey up by the head and Rey is bleeding from the mouth. Oh my. Khali has squished Rey Mysterio. Batista's music then hit and he unloaded on Khali. Batista hit Khali with the World Title and then nailed him with the spear. Khali bailed to the outside. Batista checked on Rey and the announcers are in serious mode, and Rey is out of it. Backstage, and Khali and Runjin seem very pleased with their actions and Teddy Long comes up to them. Long said if Mysterio can make it to Unforgiven, he will have the help of another man, Batista! Khali and Singh are pissed as the EMT's hit the ring to check on Rey.
