Report By: Richard Trionfo of PWInsider.com

WWE Smackdown! Opener:

We start off tonight’s show with a look back at John Cena’s injury on Monday night against Ken Kennedy. We then see highlights from Vince McMahon’s announcement on ECW Tuesday night when he made the announcement that John Cena would be stripped of his title due to the injury he suffered. We are reminded that the title will be on the line at No Mercy.

In the arena:

World Heavyweight Champion Batista comes to the ring. We see a video package for the Punjabi Prison Match where Batista will defend the World Heavyweight Title at No Mercy. Batista says that for the five years that he has been with the WWE he has faced all kinds of opponents in different matches. He has been a champion and challenger and everything in between. He says that he has never been placed in the position that he will be placed in on Sunday, and that is the Punjabi Prison Match. Batista explains the concept of the match. He talks about the inner cage that is sixteen feet tall with four doors. Then there is another cage that is twenty feet high with razor sharp spikes on top. Batista says that it sounds like a chamber of horrors. He will be locked in the cage with a seven foot-four inch four hundred-twenty pound killer with a bad attitude. Batista says that it sounds like Khali has a home field advantage. Batista is interrupted by the Great Khali on the Fist-O-Tron. After he speaks for a while, Runjin Singh appears and he translates for Khali and says that impossible does not describe his situation enough. Batista is going to step inside a structure that strikes fear in everyone in India. The people who get locked inside the Punjabi Prison not only lose their freedom, they lose their sanity and will to live. He says that Batista will lose the World Heavyweight Title. Batista tells Khali that he has no idea what it is like to be locked inside a cage with an Animal. Cole talks about Khali’s match against Rey Mysterio later tonight. Bradshaw talks about how this is not like the biblical David versus Goliath situation. We go to commercial.
