WWE To Launch The WWE Network By Broadcasting Wrestlemania XXVIII Next Year?

Richard Gray November 20, 2011 WWE News No Comments

There is a hot rumor beginning to make rounds within inner circles of WWE. Vince McMahon promised a major announcement regarding the forthcoming WWE Network in the company’s investor conference call to discuss quarter three earnings for 2011 earlier this month.

The rumor making rounds is that the company will kickoff the WWE Network by broadcasting Wrestlemania XXVIII for free on the network. According to those with knowledge of the rumor, the idea is to launch the network on April 1, 2012.

As I reported here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com Premium back in September, the topic of giving up the tremendous Wrestlemania pay-per-view revenue to use it as a bargaining chip to gain clearance for the WWE Network on cable and satellite systems has been discussed.

While this looks more likely now than it did a month ago, I haven’t heard if the company plans to air Wrestlemania XXVIII exclusively on the WWE Network or on the network as well as making it available on pay-per-view. Things are changing with the WWE Network as about as frequently as things in WWE creative but this is certainly something to keep an eye on.
