John Cena vs. Undertaker

I have already seen promotional images for John Cena vs. The Undertaker for Wrestlemania 33. While I’m sure they are Photoshopped, what’s the likelihood of this match actually happening?

Vince McMahon wanted to do John Cena vs. The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32 this year, however, they just couldn’t get John Cena back in time to do it. We all know the direction WWE went with Undertaker, with Shane McMahon returning for a Hell in a Cell match that seemed to get over. But Vince still wants Cena vs. Undertaker. We heard (and reported extensively in our Members section) that Vince wanted the match at SummerSlam but right now, there isn’t an open line of communication with Undertaker. It’s looking more and more like they’re going to go back to one of the original plans and do Cena vs. AJ Styles once again. I have to think Undertaker vs. Cena is likely for Wrestlemania 33 next year if Undertaker agrees to come back and work again. Undertaker’s contract stipulates for him to have one match per year. He’s already had a match this year and this could very well happen next year in Orlando, assuming communication is restored and Undertaker wants to come back.

Can you explain how Brock Lesnar can fight for UFC given that he is under WWE contract?

WWE holds the exclusive rights to Brock Lesnar’s services. He cannot appear at any professional wrestling event or in any Mixed Martial Arts fight without the consent of WWE. A deal was negotiated between WWE and UFC to utilize Lesnar at UFC 200 on Saturday. Brock obviously wanted to fight again and I believe Vince McMahon and the WWE brass saw it as a measured risk to have one of their top guys on one of the biggest WWE shows of all time. People thought we were crazy when we reported that WWE would allow Lesnar to take a fight [under contract] as long as they had a say on the opponent. However, we are not able to confirm WWE approved Mark Hunt but it’s likely they did indeed have a say. Remember, without WWE’s blessing, Lesnar does not work outside of their ring.

What do you make of WWE lifting Jerry Lawler’s suspension immediately once domestic violence charges against him were dropped when they released Adam Rose while they were still pending (even though they too were later dropped)?

I believe WWE was looking for any reason to cut ties with Adam Rose. Remember, not only was he coming off a second suspension from the WWE Wellness Policy but he was extremely vocal about it. He even tweeted a letter from his physician explaining why he had a prescription for Adderall XR. It’s bad enough to have a second Wellness strike but to air dirty laundry on a public platform is a major no-no within WWE. When the domestic violence charges came down, it gave WWE the window they needed. I commend WWE for their hard stance against domestic violence but I agree with Adam Rose in that you really can’t compare his situation to Jerry Lawler’s situation. Every case must be dealt with on an individual basis.

Why does Wrestling News World no longer cover TNA Wrestling?

We stopped covering TNA Wrestling due to a lack of interest. We do not completely shun the organization as we’ll post stuff when it’s something we believe is relevant to our readers but there just aren’t enough fans to warrant 24/7 365 coverage like we do for WWE.
