Could it be a possibility to have Brock Lesnar turn babyface at Royal Rumble and go against The Authority, and maybe end up with a last match against Triple H at Wrestlemania?
We never say never but I would be against turning Brock Lesnar at this juncture. WWE has pushed Lesnar as the unstoppable heel that ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. They have Paul Heyman to get heat on him. Why risk the fans not buying a Lesnar babyface turn when they know what they have in him as the unstoppable antagonist?
Given the way Raw ended, there is a differentiation in Seth Rollins as the henchman of The Authority and Brock Lesnar the beast, but I still don’t feel an all-out heel turn is what is brewing. The presence of Rollins in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Royal Rumble adds intrigue and leaves fans guessing. If they rematched Cena vs. Lesnar — as originally announced — not only would it be difficult to book but it would be extremely predictable.
With Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, what are the plans for John Cena at Wrestlemania?
Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar is not definite for Wrestlemania 31 in March. I expect this to be the case, however, we truly won’t know the direction WWE wants to go until after Royal Rumble in a couple weeks. If WWE goes with Reigns vs. Lesnar and Sting vs. Triple H (two bouts I’m expecting to happen), John Cena will be in need of a top level opponent. Rusev was a name that has come up — which has resulted in him being called the 2015 Bray Wyatt — but I don’t have an update at press time.
Has there ever been a consideration to have a Divas Rumble Match to determine the number one contender for the title?
WWE has done No. 1 contender’s Diva Battle Royals in the past and like the Divas division, they’ve largely been forgettable. If you mean they should copy the format of the 30-man Royal Rumble match, I don’t see that being a reality based on time constraints and the fact the 30-man Royal Rumble match should stand alone as a distinct concept to determine the WWE World Heavyweight Championship challenger at Wrestlemania. Just get the title off Brock Lesnar!
I want to see Daniel Bryan spoil the “cash in” of the Money in the Bank briefcase at Royal Rumble and set up a program with Seth Rollins. What are your thoughts?
Under this scenario, you’re saying you want to see Seth Rollins “cash in” after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Royal Rumble, only to be foiled by Daniel Bryan and later setting up a program between the two at Wrestlemania. I wouldn’t be opposed to WWE doing Rollins vs. Bryan at Wrestlemania, but let’s also remember Randy Orton is looming for a program with him as well. Maybe they do a triple threat?
Regardless, Rollins’ inclusion in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Royal Rumble adds intrigue and the fact that he has the MITB briefcase gives WWE the opportunity to swerve. While WWE had a great opportunity for Rollins to successfully cash in last fall, I like how they have so many options heading into Wrestlemania season.
From the Ask WNW vault…
August 2009: Is it true that Bryan Danielson has been recently signed by WWE? - Yes, Bryan Danielson has agreed in principle to a contract with WWE. I haven't heard the terms of the deal but I would imagine he'll go to Florida Championship Wrestling in Tampa before getting the call up to the main roster. I understand Danielson is one of the best workers in the world but I would imagine WWE will want to take a look at him in their developmental facility before calling him up. I really hope Danielson does not get buried as a WWE worker.
The next installment of Ask WNW is scheduled to run on Friday, January 16, 2015.
