What a long and amazing weekend! For me every weekend in October was booked, which is very unusual for me. Between medieval events, a (medieval) wedding, and our yearly trip up the coast, my month was full, other than the last weekend of the month. I was looking forward to that weekend because NaNoWriMo starts at midnight November first, and I have a HUGE medieval event next weekend, and my daughter Ellie is turning thirty, so I know it will be extra busy. But then it was announced that the Women's Championship would be defended in Hell In A Cell in Boston, and I needed to be there. Stacy and I had previously decided that we really couldn't afford to attend the event, but with that match added, we got tickets. Rather than driving down, spending the day in Boston, and getting a hotel room for the night, we drove down, parked at the Malden T stop, took the Orange Line in, and wandered around a bit to eat before the show. After the show we took the T back out and drove home. It was a long night, but it was so worth it. We didn't get home until almost four in the morning, and our seats were three rows from the top, but I don't regret any of the ick that went with it. We sat in the drive thru at Sonic for well over a half hour on our way up Route 1 in Peabody, and they were totally obnoxious, but the food was what we needed at that point, and we don't have Sonic in Maine.

I got to meet Brendan Wahl who writes SD Live, which was quite lovely. I have to admit that it was nice watching the PPV knowing that about forty people over in the same row was another WNW writer. We are a family here, and even though we live in numerous countries, all over the world, we have build quite a camaraderie here.

While I still have so much to write about HIAC, I think I'd better jump into the RIB so I can get it out to you, and get on my NaNovel.

Raw Starts

In Ring Segment > A-

Heyman was wonderful here from the start! The crack of his voice, the way he spoke to Goldberg, and how he handed the fans. I really didn't expect Brock to be there, but Heyman sold it really well, and really handled it well after when Goldberg was about to splat him all over the ring. But I wasn't expecting Rusev to the ring! He actually did quite well in there with Goldberg. Personally I prefer Rusev when he's being funny, because he's so good at it, like saying, “I know his name!” But he was serious, really selling Goldberg's big moves and power, so, of course, Goldberg had to take Rusev apart. When Heyman didn't get the spear earlier, I didn't think it would happen, but I have to say that Goldberg looked like he was pretty careful with Heyman.

In Ring Segment > A

I love Enzo and Cass, and think their costumes are superb! After their promo at HIAC, Cass had to be Woody! I have to admit that being at HIAC live, chanting along with Enzo and Cass was at the top of my list of things I was excited to see/do, and it was well worth it. It makes watching it on TV that much more fun now!

Trick Or Street Fight > B

So many times they take these gimmick matches too far. Okay, I love the candy corn kendo stick, but no one wants to be covered in pumpkin guts! Reminds me of some of the gimmick matches that Lita, Kat, Trish, Chyna and those poor Divas. I don't deal well with food on dishes in the sink, and I don't like food fights. It's one of those things that grosses me out, so as much as I love Enzo and Cass, I won't be watching this match again.

After Enzo took down Gallows and flipped him over before the three, he had Festus face. That face that Festus gave before the bell rang and after the match was over. It's the first time I've really seen Festus face since he returned. Heck, I don't recall seeing it in TNA either.

Winner – Enzo

Cruiserweight Championship Match – The Brian Kendrick (c) vs TJP > B+

First off, I want The Brian Kendrick's lilac leather jacket. I have a hot pink one just like it, but without the studs and other frills. That makes me want to put studs on mine, as I've contemplated it for a while now. Not like it's something I wear often in Maine. It's either too hot or too cold to wear it!

Anyway, I really enjoyed their match at HIAC, even though the fans were dead for it. They were so spent after the HIAC match. Same thing happened to Bayley. But, the guy next to me actually said, “So the Cruiserweight Championship changed hands, so what?” That really irked me, especially after how great the Kick Off Show's Cruiserweight Tag Match was over. Okay, the fans loved Cedric Alexander, but they were really into the match!

TJP's moves in this match, especially the knees to the gut move, before one of his pin attempts, was so creative! I love watching the Cruiserweights in the ring, because they can do things that the bigger guys can't do. Now they need to push the characters and storylines to get them caught up with everyone else. Yes, TJP has some personality and character, but he's Cena lite, and TBK is evil TBK, but we need more.

Winner via Count Out – The Brian Kendrick

Backstage Segment > B+

Foley is so cute, and sold his worry about Strowman. Actually, I really enjoyed that segment between them. Strowman is really well spoken, so much better than I thought possible, and Foley is great working with almost anyone. Like most, when he's on, he's great, and he was on here.

In Ring Segment > A-

Foley's shirt is adorable, but his outfit as a whole is booty! Do you think Jericho shaves his chest, or waxes it? But Foley was really great here! Further, he pushed the issues between KO and Jericho. That Steph didn't want Jericho will hurt their relationship. I'm also hoping that Reigns will somehow get in there and hurt their relationship too. I was annoyed when Reigns' was announced, I actually rolled my eyes, but the more I think about it, the more interested I am in the three of these guys working together. I know part of it is to continue to push Reigns as a face with these two heels, but thinking about it, it could really help all three in the long term.

I thought Jericho getting all snarky at Reigns over the US Championship was great! He was all whiny at Reigns, knowing he was too beaten up in HIAC, and then Reigns was all there for it. The only thing better was Foley signing it with a cheap pop. This was a lot of fun, and even Reigns didn't come off too bad.

Survivor Series Qualifying Battle Royal > B-

Young as Backlund is fan-fricken-tastic! Okay, I know no one wants to lose a match, ever, but you'd think they would want the best of the best, the strongest of them all, to be going into Survivor Series against SmackDown, so why not step aside and let Strowman have it? Yes, egos, storylines, etc., but still!

What kills me, and the show, and the match, is that they went to commercial right after this match started. That's absolute bullcrap! I really like watching Battle Royals, and would rather see them than commercials!

Cesaro eliminating Sheamus was great, but I still want to see more physicality between them! And, of course it was going to come down to Sami Zayn and Strowman! It wasn't as shocking to see Sami pulling Strowman over the top as it was seeing Benoit pulling Big Show out over the top and out – even though both big guys had to help the littler guys in huge ways.

Winner Strowman

Backstage Segment > A-

I love the tribute to Charles Write! That, to me, gets them an A! I love that they not only pulled three iconic black Superstars to honor with their costumes, but that they were all the same man made it that much better. Actually, I enjoyed this whole segment

Dorado & Swann & Alexander vs Gulak & Daivari & Nese > B+

I wonder why they swapped out Sin Cara for Swann tonight? Honestly, as much as I love the man who plays Sin Cara, Swann is much showier in the ring, and the fans love him. Strangely, Gulak looks a bit pudgy in person, and that doesn't come across on TV as much. These guys killed it at the Kick Off to HIAC, but the fans seem dead here. I really feel for the Cruiserweights, they're not getting the respect they deserve – from the live fans, Creative, or McMahon. Disgusting, especially after how they killed it with the CWC on the WWE Network.

Swann is amazing, but I don't think he or the Cruiserweights will be pushed much until something big happens. I don't want A Double to be a CW, but he sure would come in and shake things up, really show how great these guys are, all because of how over he is. A Double oozes character and charisma, and could really give the Cruiserweights the shot they need, but he shouldn't be pigeon-holed as a little guy. Plus, now he needs surgery, which is not a shocker after seeing his face. Give these guys characters and storylines and let them run with them! The best will grab the brass ring, the rest will be future endeavored!

Winners – Faces

In Ring Segment > B

The yelling is too much, but some of what she said and how she said it was fantastic. I might give Charlotte more credit here than most, but I am going beyond the screaming. But then there's the screaming and it drives me crazy! Charlotte has proven that she can work the mic as a heel, but, for some reason, she feels she needs to scream each time she has to say more than three sentences. It drives me crazy, and I don't understand why no one has spoken to her about it backstage. They have to know how the fans feel about it! This is more than a heel is doing a great job pissing off the fans, this is Charlotte pissing off the fans in a truly negative way that will eventually lead to X-Pac heat if she doesn't get past this screeching issue. I know people who turn off the sound when Charlotte is on mic, because it's easier to read the captioning than deal with her screech. That's a true sign that there's an issue there. Hopefully TPB will do something about this before things get really ugly.

What I don't understand is why Bayley has been booked so badly on Raw. Yes, she's a fantastic underdog, but putting her in the ring with the likes of Dana who is still too green to be more that laughable most nights is almost painful to watch. Bayley is a Horsewoman, but getting the shortest end of the stick. Saying over and over that this isn't NXT is so obviously McMahon at the helm, slapping Trip down as well as Bayley, but Bayley has proven that she deserves better. It doesn't matter that she doesn't look like a bikini model, what matters is the fans, and we all love her. Bayley is a beautiful woman and McMahon's personal issues with the women on the roster, and his own son-in-law, has pissed me off for a long time, but I adore Bayley and all she stands for, as well as all she does in the ring, and she's being fucked over by McMahon. I know that there always has to be someone who loses, but Bayley has been taking that loss a lot, and to women who have no reason or right to be beating her. She works her ass off and deserves to be right up there with Becky, Sasha, and Charlotte!

Nia Jax vs Bayley > B+&F

So Bayley was all over Jax in NXT, but now Bayley has no offense against her? The announcers even brought up the history between Jax and Bayley, but not the fact that Bayley was usually the victor? Either they want us to forget, or they don't. Yes, Jax is a beautiful, strong, powerful woman with some of the sexiest curves in the WWE, but either there is history, or there isn't!

This was a no-win situation for the Women's Division. Nax needed to win to continue her streak. Bayley needed to win because she's been booked to look mid-card, something she truly isn't. Bayley carried NXT, now she's jobbing to Dana who is greener than goose shite? Yes, she looked much stronger against Jax than most of us thought she'd be booked to look, but the loss to Jax only continued to hurt Bayley.

Beyond that, this was a solid match between the two women. Bayley held her own, even though she was booked to be much weaker than she really is. They worked the ring well and looked good doing it. I'm excited to see more work between them, after Jax's streak ends.

Winner – Nia Jax

Sheamus & Cesaro vs Shining Stars > B+

I'm going to have a fashion designing moment. Everything on each of Primo and Epico didn't match anything else they were wearing. The blues were all different on them. The arm warmers didn't match the trunks which didn't match the boots. Same with his partners trunks and boots. They are supposed to look like a viable tag team, but things like that makes me wonder why they're still on Raw and haven't been picked up by TNA. Yes, I went there!

Beyond that, there's so much more I want from Cesaro and Sheamus. There's so much they could do with this storyline, yet they start stepping up to make it that much better, but they don't take the leap. This could be even better than Angle/Benoit, but it's barely more than a slap and tickle. Come on, Cesaro is GREAT, and Sheamus has the ability to be great himself, if in the right spot. This could be the perfect spot for them both to show that they are top guys, and not only KO and Jericho can run the top storyline. While it's time for them to step it up, I imagine it could be hard getting in the mindset to do so when they're stuck facing the likes of the Shining Stars. It has to be demoralizing to face the bottom of the barrel when you know you're so much better than that. I feel for Primo and Epico too, but things are what they are for them these days.

Winners – Sheamus & Cesaro

Video > F-

I have no clue why they aired the haunted house segment from Golden Truth. I do understand why they filmed it, but it was so horrible that they should have scrapped it as soon as they saw it. That they had to spend time editing and cutting this segment is ridiculous! What a waste of time for the production crew. And, I know Goldust and R-Truth and goofy, and a lot of people think they shouldn't be there, but I think they could be hysterical, if they had solid creative writing. They are a lot of fun, but unless they're treated with some sort of respect from Creative, they're not going to get any respect from the fans.

Backstage Segment > A

Jericho and KO are fantastic together. The thing is that Jericho said the US Championship is the only Championship he's not won in the WWE. You could see KO wanting to mention that Jericho hasn't held the Universal Championship too, but he didn't want to have to face his bestie for it, so he didn't. How long until that comes up and things get ugly between them? Not that Jericho could beat KO at this point in his career, but it's where they're heading.

US Championship Match – Reigns (c) vs Jericho > B

The work between these two from the start was solid. I was actually quite impressed with how well they worked together. Jericho has slowed down a lot, but he looked decent in there with Reigns. I won't say Reigns carried Jericho, because he didn't, but Reigns is strong, and getting better in the ring from the goose shite he was when he was with The Shield. I know a lot of people are still crapping on Reigns, but it's time to get over it and really focus on his growth and get over that he was stupidly pushed for his look and his size. He still isn't the best on mic, but he's so much better than he was. Same for in the ring. I didn't think that Jericho would beat him the night after a HIAC match, but there was a real possibility that it could happen. But, of course, KO got involved and it was all over. I'm willing to bet that Jericho will put some spin on it and he will get a rematch with Reigns and it will turn into some sort of a thing between them going into Survivor Series.

Winner via DQ – Reigns

Post Show

By the way, after all these years, I still cannot spell shield correctly the first time I type it, every tie. You'd think by this point I'd have that word down pat. Not just from the WWE, but from how much I write, year round, but no, it's one of those words that I just cannot get. Even though it completely follows the I before E, except after C rule!

But I digress. I have to say that this Raw was so much better than they have been recently. Raw has been so depressing lately that I haven't really wanted to watch it, and I'm a hardcore fan who has watched through some of the worst times. Things had been looking up for a number of years of PG crap that had dragged us all down, but these past couple months have almost hurt to watch at times, and my heart has hurt to see how bad things had become. I'm thrilled this show was so much better, but I worry that it was because it was post HIAC, or because of the feud with SD heading into Survivor Series. Either way, I'm going to stay cautiously optimistic.
