The Smackdown Breakdown: New Wench Order!

Hello WNW People! Mitch “Big M” Adams here welcoming you to another edition of…The Smackdown Breakdown. Which is, of course, an opinion based review of Smackdown Live each week if you did not know that before! So without further ado, let’s get stuck into what happened on Smackdown Love this week, shall we?

In-Ring Segment: Shinsuke Nakamura & Dolph Ziggler > B+
Don’t you just love the energy Nakamura brings into an arena with his entrance? The man has more charisma than 90% of the roster! Dolph worked the promo well here poking fun at Nakamura and his fandom of Michael Jackson. But I wish they had let Nakamura talk more. He actually has a pretty good grasp on the English language as he studied it at school.

AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin > A
I know I keep harping about this, but Baron Corbin really is getting better each and every week! I fully expect him to be WWE World Champion within the next year. AJ Styles was his usual brilliant self here as he can have a great match with ANYONE! The finish of KO interfering and Sami Zayn running in after the match to make the save was expected, but still enjoyable. And as seen on Talking Smack helped set up a future feud with Zayn and Corbin.
Winner: AJ Styles

Backstage Interview: Charlotte > B
Charlotte has this arrogant heel you love to hate because she’s as good as she thinks she is thing down! But I agree with Kendra about her promo’s. Enough with the screeching already.

Beat The Clock Challenge: American Alpha vs Primo & Epico > C+
I’ve missed Beat The Clock Challenge matches! They were always a lot of fun. Although this one wasn’t all that exciting. Which is surprising considering American Alpha were in there. But then again they were working with Primo and Epico.
Winner’s: American Alpha (5:17)

Pre-Taped Segment: Rusev’s Ultimatum > A
Rusev for challenging for a WWE World Championship makes a crap load more sense to me than Jinder Mahal! I loved Rusev’s passion in this promo, and I hope he finally gets his chance to shine after having every last scrap of momentum he has ever built up killed by putting over Cena and then Reigns the last few years.

Backstage Segment: Becky Lynch Interview & The “NEW WENCH ORDER” > B
I am very curious to see where this Charlotte vs the entire Women’s locker room storyline goes and where Becky will fit into it! But can I just say how talented Becky Lynch is on the mic! She comes up with classic lines like “New Wench Order” on Talking Smack, and some idiot backstage (Kevin Dunn) doesn’t like her because he thinks her accent is too think. I swear the nonsense that goes on backstage with WWE’s higher-ups must be enough to make talents question their love for the industry.

Randy Orton vs Erick Rowen > B
Erick Rowen will probably get lost in the shuffle in WWE now that he and Bray Wyatt are on separate brands. Which is a shame really because he is far better in the ring than people think. And he proved it in this match with Orton. In fact, I’d go as far to say Rowen was carrying Orton in this match since Orton has been coasting for months now. Seriously there is a distinct lack of effort in Randy’s matches as of late!
Winner: Randy Orton

Post-Match Shenanigans: Jinder, Bollywood Boyz & Orton > F
I’m sorry, but this whole thing still has me scratching my head! I get that WWE want’s to grow its audience in India. And I’m all for diversity in WWE (although the way they are introducing more diversity by reinforcing stereotypes is counter productive). But that doesn’t change the fact that Jinder was a jobber three short weeks ago. Talk about rushing a push! More to the point I’m still not happy that he’s getting a push after nearly killing Balor on Raw a few weeks ago!

As far as the Bollywood Boyz go, they need a crap load more seasoning on NXT! So I sincerely hope they are nothing more than backup for Jinder at this point. No way should they be working matches on the main roster yet as evident by the botchomania worthy match on the first episode of 205 Live.

Breezango vs The Ascension > D
My jaw fell on the floor when I saw Breezango win this match and the Beat The Clock Challenge! With Jinder wrestling for the WWE World Title and Breezango wrestling for the Tag straps…Backlash is shaping up to be Revenge of the Jobbers!
Winner’s: Breezango (2:42)

Smackdown Women’s Title Match: Naomi (c) vs Charlotte
I love that Women main eventing shows has become the norm in WWE today. It’s long overdue, and these women are killing it every single week. Naomi and Charlotte are no exceptions! Even though the run-in beat down by the “New Wench Order” makes sense storyline wise I wish this match could have gone longer and had a clean finish.

But then again if it had Charlotte would have gone over cutting Naomi’s Title reign short again because higher-ups see Charlotte as the top Women in WWE (Vince likes blondes, what can we say). So at least this way Charlotte is still booked to look strong and Naomi gets to have a longer reign.
No Contest

Overall Grade > B-
Smackdown was exceeding average this week! But Styles vs Corbin and The Women’s Title matches were good at least.

And that ladies and gents was the Smackdown Breakdown.
