The Smackdown Breakdown: Not Quite A Perfect Ten, But Close Enough!

I apologize for the Breakdown being so short this week. But I caught a nasty bug over WrestleMania weekend, and I am still not at 100%. But rest assured the one, and only BIG M will be back to full speed very soon.

In-Ring Segment: Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Erik Rowan & Luke Harper > F
I’ve had mixed feelings about the program between Orton and Wyatt since day one! And after the debacle of a match at Mania I hope things will improve in the coming weeks. But judging by this segment, I should not get my hopes up.

Smackdown Women’s Title Match: Naomi (c) vs Alexa Bliss > A
These two women killed it out there in front of a hot post-Mania crowd. A lot of kudos go out to Naomi and Alexa for this match.
Winner: Naomi

Curt Hawkins vs Tye Dillinger > A & F
It was so cool to see Tye come out to such a MASSIVE pop. But I’m still upset Hawkins has been relegated to jobber status once again. Why did WWE spend weeks building up his return to WWE through video promos only to job him out as soon as he made his return? Seems like a waste of money to me!
Winner Tye Dillinger

Backstage Interview: Mojo Rawly > F
I can’t stand this guy, and his promos get on my nerves. But not as much as his ring work!

Nakamura’s Debut: Miz, Maryse & Shinsuke Nakamura > A
I don’t think Miz has been more over in his entire career! The man has been killing it the last six months. Some may say he was buried at WrestleMania, but I disagree. Yeah, he and Maryse lost the match (one booked purely to get the “Total Divas” audience to watch Mania) but believe me when I say he and Maryse are the real winners in that program after all the incredible TV they have given us over the last few weeks!

Nakamura’s debut was done perfectly in my opinion! He came out, got the biggest pop of the night and left. Sure, he didn’t say or do anything! But that’s because he didn’t have to. The man is that over!

Street Fight: Baron Corbin vs Dean Ambrose > A
This was the match that these two should have had at WrestleMania. Both these men rocked the house and put on a great match. And once again, Baron Corbin showed us that he is a future main eventer. I am so glad WWE’s higher-ups are taking a slow and steady approach to his push. It will do him wonders in the long run!
Winner: Baron Corbin

In-Ring Segment: Shane McMahon & AJ Styles > B+
I loved the show of mutual respect between these two after their surprisingly good match at WrestleMania. I loved the fake-out between these two after the handshake. But wasn’t this segment supposed to be about giving us more details about the upcoming Superstar Shakeup?

Randy Orton & Luke Harper vs Bray Wyatt & Erik Rowan > B
Maybe it’s the illness talking, or maybe it’s the fact that I have mixed feelings about how their program was booked, but I honestly think the only people who shone in this match were Harper and Rowan! I really hope the future House of Horrors match between Orton and Wyatt delivers. Because right now, I really wish this program was already over!
Winner’s: Orton & Harper

Overall Grade > B+
Both Raw & Smackdown were pretty even this week regarding quality. Which isn’t all that surprising as they were both Live post-Mania shows! Both had a lot to love, and one or two things to hate.

And that ladies and gents was the Smackdown Breakdown.
