Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages welcome to another edition of the Smackdown Breakdown. This Sunday sees the Hell in a Cell pay per view take place and begin the road to the Survivor Series. The show is being built around two matches really; John Cena versus Randy Orton, and Dean Ambrose versus Seth Rollins. Both matches will be contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure but only one of these matches really matters to me and that's the Rollins versus Ambrose match. Don't get me wrong I'm sure Cena and Orton will have an alright match between them but the one the fans really care about is Ambrose and Rollins. I'm expecting them to tear the house down. I won't give too much away about my thoughts on the matches we are going to see as they will be revealed later with the WNW Predicts are posted so please check them out when they are available.
With that being said lets head straight on into this weeks Smackdown Breakdown and see what this weeks show had to offer us.
Dean Ambrose Segment - 4.5 Stars
I'm disappointed we didn't see Ambrose bring out another manikin with him after his rather hilarious segment on Raw. I'm really looking forward to the match between Rollins and Ambrose as I've already stated and think these two can put on a master class. Ambrose is clearly over with the fans as he received a great repetition again as he entered the arena where he cut another intense promo that should have left any fan wanting more and excited for Sunday. Rollins made an appearance and promised to call out Ambrose later in the night and built himself up really well by claiming he is the future of WWE, and who am I to argue against that? I fully believe him, just as much as I believe Ambrose doesn't care about winning this Sunday and just wants to cause Seth some pain.
The Miz and Damien Mizdow vs. Los Matadores - 3.5 Stars
Sheamus featured on commentary for this match but the most entertaining thing in this whole match aside from the finish was Damien Mizdow. Los Matadores have fallen off the tag team radar very quickly after their initial grand entrance to the division. I did like how Miz mocked Sheamus by doing the ten beats of the bodhran. If anything I think the only entertaining thing about their match on Sunday will be Mizdow but I hope to be proved wrong and that both Sheamus and Miz step up to give the performances we know they are capable of.
AJ Lee vs. Alicia Fox - 3.5 Stars
Before I talk about this match I may be a little late but I just want to say to all of Paige's doubters....HAHAHAHAHA! I have been saying for weeks now to be patient and her time will come and it is clear now she really is performing to the level expected of her. Paige and AJ are without a doubt the best thing for the Divas division but I expect this could be the end of their feud as it can't go much longer.
Paige was of course ringside for this one and was very vocal throughout the match. In fact you could almost argue she called the match for Alicia Fox. The one highlight of the match for me did actually come from Fox who hit a very nice looking Northern Lights suplex. However AJ picked up the win with a roll up after it looked like Paige might screw her over again and this did not leave the Norwich, England Diva in a good mood. The feud between these two Divas is intense and is great to watch because it has an element of realism to the feeling of it. Their match on Sunday will be a great watch if they are allowed the time to go out and do what they need to.
Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler - 4.5 Stars
When this match was announced the first thought in my head was why is this match not on the Hell in a Cell show? Obviously I should have waited till later in the show when a 2 out of three falls match was made for Sunday, and if this match is anything to go by their match Sunday will be a fantastic watch for any fan. This without a doubt was a match that was pay per view quality and is one of the highlights of the last few weeks of Smackdown.
It was great to see this match start out with some actual wrestling as well as some real athleticism being shown by both men early one. These two talents deserve so much more in terms of the opportunity to be bigger features on the show but it just isn't happening right now. There was so much great back and forth action during this one and I enjoyed seeing the power bomb Cesaro hit on Ziggler toward the end. The finish as Dolph countered to hit the Zig Zag was great and I really am looking forward to seeing the match these two put on at Hell in a Cell.
Summer Rae, Cameron, and Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella, Naomi, and Natalya - 2 Stars
I really do hope that Sunday is the last time we see the Bella Twins face off in a match, but I somehow doubt that is going to be the case. It had the potential to be a great feud but it really has tanked with bad acting and some poor wrestling. Brie looked good in the ring during this match but in the end it was Nikki who got the pin fall victory. Naomi and Natalya never even got in the match so they may as well not have been there. Nikki claiming that Brie Bella will become her Cinderbella after Sunday just about summed up how pointless this segment was.
The Usos and Mark Henry vs. Goldust, Stardust, and Bo Dallas - 3 Stars
I'm looking forward to the match on Sunday between the Rhodes brothers and the Usos. Sadly the matches between Mark Henry and Bo Dallas have left a lot to be desired as I just can't picture Bo beating Henry given the huge size difference. Gold and Stardust just get better each and every week and I think they are probably the best tram in WWE's lack lustre tag division. Mark Henry was a force before he came in the ring but unfortunately the unbolievable Bo Dallas hit the running Bo-Dog on Henry to seal the win. I'm shocked he could even move him to be fair given the size difference. This was an alright match but it wasn't anything special.
Seth Rollins Calls Out Ambrose - 4 Stars
We started this weeks show with a talking segment and that's how we ended the show as well which was disappointing to see. I'm enjoying seeing Mercury and Noble come out each time with Seth now and it is a great addition to the Authority. There was a serious arsenal of weapons on display and Seth took us through several of them to tell us what he would do to Ambrose with them. Seth made a great comment when he said that he sold out to buy in and become a winner.
The promo Seth cut was great to watch and it left me wanting to see more and more. I heard JBL say something about a Punk card, and my first thought was can he say that? I know what he meant but I thought it was a bit of a strange phrase to use. Seth claimed that Ambrose was all talk and that his future will be a long ride straight to hell, which was quite appropriate given Sundays match.
Ambrose didn't respond to Seth when he initially called him out but unsurprisingly he did come out to attack Seth with a kendo stick. Seth left Ambrose in the ring for the stooges to deal with but Ambrose had the last laugh when he put both Mercury and Noble through tables. I was left wanting to see more from these two and I cannot wait for their match on Sunday.
Overall Show Rating - 4 Stars
I thought this was a pretty strong show to go into Hell in a Cell on that saw some real good quality segments and matches. Without a doubt the best match of the night for me was between Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler who put on a true master class of a wrestling match. I cannot wait to see their 2 out of 3 falls match on Sunday as I think they will tear the house down with it. Equally though Rollins and Ambrose really made for two compelling segments and I cannot wait to see their match Sunday as it is going to be something special.
