WNW Predicts – Roadblock

Tonight WWE presents Roadblock from Toronto. Now, I understand that the WWE is trying to keep the Universe excited and enthralled going down the Road To WrestleMania, but to many of us, this event seems like exactly what it's called, a Roadblock! Why would the WWE take a pit stop on the Road To WrestleMania for this Roadblock mess? It seems daft and unnecessary.

NXT Tag Title Match – Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder vs Enzo and Big Cass

KB Predicts

I have to fully admit that I'm not as up on NXT as I should be, but as many WNW readers know, I'm reliving the McMahon/Helmsley Era and just finished watching WrestleMania 2000, so I've not been on top of NXT. I spend anywhere from four to six hours with the WWE Network on (I'm an insomniac, and usually doing other things while it's on – art endeavors, weaving, writing), yet still not spending much time watching modern wrestling. So, I'm going on what I've heard, and the bits I've seen and read about these guys. I know that the NXT Tag Team Champions are talented young men who work hard in the ring and are impressive, but I've heard so much greatness about Enzo and Cass. The things I've heard about Enzo and Cass are above and beyond their ring skills. They're more than talented wrestlers, they're Superstars. To me, that's the type of guys who should be NXT Tag Team Champions.

KB's Predicted Winner – Enzo & Cass

Big M Predicts

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE NXT? Great characters, Less convoluted story lines and the more in-ring focused product has made NXT the colossal success its is. BUT for the life of me, I don't understand why Dawson and Wilder are the NXT Tag Champs. This isn't a dig at them, their work rate is solid and the comparisons to Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard aren't that far off the mark. But their Gimmick is so BLOODY BORING! I mean when you have teams like The Vaudevillians, American Alpha, Blake & Murphey, and off course the Uber Entertaining Enzo & Big Cass, why to strap a poor man's version of The Brain Busters. (Watch WrestleMania 5 on the WWE Network to get that reference kids).

I see Enzo and Cass winning this one as they are LONG overdue for a title run.

Big M's Predicted Winner – Enzo & Big Cass

WWE Tag Team Title Match – The New Day vs Sheamus and King Barrett

KB Predicts

Why? Just, why? League of Nations is so bloody boring, and nothing they can do will ever change that. Not even putting them in the ring with the most entertaining team on the roster could help League of Nations. Shane McMahon was completely correct on Raw when he said that there're Superstars on the roster who are boring while others who are not working WWE TV who have talent over them by leaps and bounds haven't been seen, like, forever. I'm speaking specifically of Sandow, but that's only because Social Outcasts have been on WWE TV lately, Cesaro is injured and O'Neil is suspended. Heck, much of the NXT roster could come up to the WWE roster and have little following and would still be more interesting than League of Nations. I've been a Sheamus fan, defending him through most of his character, but he's become more boring than ever, and even I cannot abide by what he's turned into. Add in the ever loathed ADR, the grunting and roaring Rusev, and the delicately blown glass Barrett and together I don't understand how they don't put themselves to sleep before they even make it to the ring!

Either the WWE has threatened New Day to not touch Barrett, or the WWE is going to let New Day have a free-for-all on Barrett so he can sit out the rest of his contract on the injured list – where he's spent much of his WWE career. I'd love to say I'm over Barrett and League of Nations, but that would require them not to be on WWE TV annoying all of us every week. This is exactly what's killing the WWE, and I don't know why McMahon, Trip, and Steph cannot see that! Well, we know Sheamus is Trip's boy, but still, they're a huge part of the issue, and the only good thing that will happen in this match is if New Day is allowed to talk for the majority of it, and League of Nations loses quickly and pointedly.

KB's Predicted Winner – New Day

Big M Predicts

Firstly I'm shocked Barrett's actually working a title match given his injury prone body and his rumoured desire to Leave WWE when his contract comes up. And secondly, how can the League of Nations EVER be taken seriously if its members are thrown into matches (even Title Matches) with predictable outcomes and ZERO buildup? I know, I know The LON was a joke before it was even founded, but speaking as an international fan I wouldn't mind seeing workers who are not from North America get a decent rub now and then without having to play the clichéd 80s style "Foreign menace for an American hero to vanquish" gimmick.

Like there is any way New Day is NOT gonna get the win this.

Big M's Predicted Winner – New Day (Groan!)

Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt

KB Predicts

Ugh! This is another daft mess. Bray should be facing Brock at WrestleMania, not at this Roadblock on the Road To WrestleMania. I'm disgusted for Bray, for the fans, and even for Brock who deserves better than this. I'm so over all this bad booking and mess that Creative (read McMahon) has created in the WWE. The only way this could work out is if Ambrose causes a DQ and Bray and Brock have to go on to face each other at WrestleMania! That's the only good thing that could come of this, and hopefully, someone at WWE reads this before this match actually happens and realize the stupidity they've been planning on should be tossed out the window.

KB's Predicted Winner – DQ/No Contest

Big M Predicts

Finally on to the good stuff. As we all know, this match was supposed to happen at Mania but was moved up to Roadblock due to WWE's higher-ups realising they should be doing more with a talent like Dean Ambrose (more on that later). But it does suck for Bray, as I'm sure he was looking forward to a big WrestleMania match to try and repair some of the damage his horrendous booking by WWE has done to him in the past 2 years. Still, all that aside, this shall be an epic match. Both Bray and Brock work a physical style (although the word barbaric would better describes Brock's ring work). Brock will most likely be protected here, which I understand since it's WrestleMania season, but it's still a bloody shame that a talent like Bray is continuing to go under in almost every feud. I know WWE's higher-ups have this rather ridicules idea that wins and losses don't matter in building up workers, but if they don't give Bray a win soon he'll be trapped in mid card hell forever, which would be a colossal waste.

Big M's Predicted Winner – Brock Lesnar

Divas Title Match – Charlotte vs Natalya

KB Predicts

I missed Smackdown this week, so I guess something happened between Charlotte and Nattie there, otherwise this makes absolutely no sense. I know Nattie and Charlotte have great chemistry in the ring, and can go like few others. Their NXT match is a thing of legends, and possibly the greatest WWE Divas match ever, until Bayley and Sasha Banks in their Iron Man Match, and even after that, their match is still in the top three, if not number two. These two women are fantastic and should be allowed to show how great they are in the ring together, even without a storyline behind it, but not at this Roadblock mess. I hope that since they're in Canada that Bret Hart will be there to be in Nattie's corner again though Charlotte will win this to retain going into WrestleMania.

KB's Predicted Winner – Charlotte

Big M Predicts

Boy, no wonder this card feels so thrown together at the last minute…IT ACTUALLY WAS! Announcing this match the day before the show is cruel for us people writing predictions but I'm not one to complain…too much. Well again, this match has an obvious outcome however it's good to FINALLY see Natalya given something to do other than job. I mean am I the only one who wondered where the bloody hell Natalya was during the start of The Divas Revolution. Am I the only one who wonders WHY ON EARTH the granddaughter of Stu Hart, the daughter of Jim Neidhart and the niece of Bret Hart is jobbing to EVERY DIVA who has been on the roster for the last 5 years. Surely I can't be the only one who wonders this. I hope they give Charlotte and Natalya a decent amount of time. I'm sure if allowed they can put on a show akin to the match they had for the NXT Women's Title years back. Even with an obvious result, we will get, it would still be EPIC.

Big M's Predicted Winner – Charlotte

WWE World Title Match – Triple H vs Dean Ambrose

KB Predicts

I'm going with my heart over my head on this one. This is where the WWE could really shake things up, make the WWE Universe regret talking smack about this show, and throw the biggest curve into WrestleMania build that we've seen in almost a decade (Rollins cashing in last year happened in the match, so it doesn't count). I'm going to write an article comparing this WrestleMania to WrestleMania 2000 when the main event was a McMahon family feud, so I don't want to go too deeply here, but I really do think that a huge swerve here isn't too close to WrestleMania to upset the fans. In fact, it could invigorate the fans into giving a flying fig again. So, I'm going for something screwy happening here – even though the IWC has been complaining about the WWE throwing too many screwy endings in big PPV matches. I think Reigns will get involved somehow, and Ambrose will win the WWE WHC in some way that is so controversial that it might not count. Maybe both Trip and Ambrose will have their shoulders down, two refs, a big mess, and maybe Shane and his father throwing punches ringside with Steph screaming about everything and almost busting out of her sexy black leather dress. Basically, Ambrose will have to be in the main event at WrestleMania for the WWE WHC, and Brock will be facing Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. Pipedreams, but you never know, the WWE might pull their heads out of their bums!

KB's Predicted Winner – Screwiness ensues!

Big M Predicts

How Dean Ambrose hasn't already been WWE Champion at this point is beyond me! I mean, what more could you want in a Pro Wrestler/Sports Entertainer? The man has everything: ring skills, mic skills and an unbelievably entertaining gimmick you could do literally ANYTHING with. And yet, WWE is now only finally seeing the untapped potential of this incredible talent. (Isn't that always the way? LOL) Still better late than never, and this match will absolutely steal the show. But we need, to be honest, with ourselves, Dean isn't walking away with the Title. WWE's higher-ups haven't spent all this time and money setting up and promoting Triple H vs Roman Reigns as the main event of WrestleMania just to throw a wrench into their plans. This is very much a throwaway program to get some heat on Triple H (and some heat off Roman Reigns) before WretleMania. I expect Dean to have the match won...before outside interference (most likely from Brock Lesner) costs him the Title. Dean Ambrose goes on to battle Brock Lesner in a No Holds Barred match and Triple H goes on to face Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Everybody wins (except MAYBE us).

Big M's Predicted Winner – Triple H (thanks to a Brock Lesner run-in)

Zack's Predicted Winners

NXT Tag Team Championship Match - Enzo & Cass

WWE Tag Team Championship Match - New Day

Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt - Brock

WWE Divas Championship Match - Charlotte

WWE WHC Match - Triple H

Here's to hoping that Roadblock will be an exciting event that will leave the WWE Universe shocked and upset that they didn't sit down and watch Roadblock with the rest of us. Speaking of which, make sure that you join us for the Roadblock Open Thread Discussion. We always have fun, even if the show isn't as great as it could be.
