Welcome to WNW’s Tables Ladders and Chairs 2014 Predictions! Tables Ladders and Chairs 2014 will be emanating this year from the Quicken Loans Arena in The Miz's hometown of Cleaveland, Ohio! This time, we have Kendra Bunyon, Joshua Tucker, Jamie Welton, Zack Krasney, myself, and WNW reader Justin Lal doing them. Let's get to it!
Preshow Tag Team Match:
The New Day vs. Goldust and Stardust
As much as I love the Rhodes brothers, and Big E, and enjoy Kofi's springs in his feet, I'm not at all excited about this match. A New Day need more growth as a group to be in a PPV match with the Rhodes brothers, but there has to be an undercard, and I guess this makes sense. While A New Day should win this to progress, with McMahon already burning out on them, I'm worried. Because of that, I'm giving this to the Dusts.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Gold and Stardust
The New Day stable needs to get off on a good foot here so they can't afford a loss to Gold and Stardust. I'm still hoping to the solo Cody Rhodes push and hope this would be the beginning of the end of the team being paired up. The New Day wins as we continue to see the evolution of this new stable.
Josh's Predicted Winner: New Day
I’ve been impressed with what I have seen of the New Day so far since their run began in WWE. I prefer the team of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods out of the three if I am honest as I just don’t see Big E. being a success in the faction but I hope over time he proves me wrong. Working with Goldust and Starust is going to really benefit this young new team as they are both solid workers and without a doubt one of the best tag teams in WWE right now. I can only see one outcome from this match and that is a victory for The New Day as they look to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the WWE.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: New Day
All I’m gonna say...please break up the Dusts soon. Please. This is killing Cody Rhodes career. OK it’s not killing it, but it’s certainly not doing much for it either. That’s really all I have to say about this match. Obviously the New Day is going to win, they’re just debuting as a faction and they need the momentum. To do anything else would be dumb, even for WWE’s standards. My hopes are that Kofi is in the match because that guy deserves to be in the spotlight as much as possible. Remember when he was almost a main eventer...those were the days.
Zack's Predicted Winner: New Day
Well, I don't think there is any doubt about how this is going to go, especially after Raw this past week. The New Day is an up and coming group, and there are no other heel tag teams to throw at them other than the massive joke of Slater Gator. It's just a shame that WWE is putting under a pair of their better workers for something that seems to barely be gaining any traction with the fans. I'm just hoping that Xavier Woods gets some ring time, as we haven't seen anything out of him since the Funkasaurus feud.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: New Day
I think it's safe to say that The New Day won't work out as faces. The crowd isn't in to them and I don't see that changing. However, when they eventually go heel (and I think they will) it will go over huge if they have built up frustration. The group can easily make the case they are tired of being puppets. If WWE is bold enough they will allow the group to shoot on the years of racism in the WWE. The perfect team to bring this frustration out of this new faction is Gold and Stardust. We've already heard racial undertones in their promos. I see The New Day getting the win, but this feud is far from over.
Justin's Predicted Winner: New Day
Big Show vs. Erick Rowan
Okay, I lied, I am looking forward to this match as well. Big Show might not be the wrestler he once was (watching his early days in WCW), but I love getting my Giant fix on the WWE Network. I've said over and over these past weeks in the RIB that I didn't expect much from Rowan after the split, but now he's more over than Harper, and impressing me more and more each week. From the man I wasn't sure would go far, Rowan is now the man I want that much more of. His character growth has been amazing, and WWE creative is giving us tiny bits of info each week, not too much, keeping us hanging on each segment we see him in. I have to admit I laughed when I first heard they were going to have a Stairs Match, but the build to this has been so organic that it wasn't an out of the blue shock. I'm really hoping that Big Show is going into this feud, and into this match, to help the younger guy get over, and help take him to the next level. Big Show has been underutilized, and screwed over with almost every swerve, but he can do so much for the company, and the younger guys in the locker room. Giant debuted at Halloween Havoc 1995 and defeated Hogan for the WCW WHC via DQ. Because of the stip for the match, Giant won the strap from Hogan. His first night out in his debut match and he won the big one from the biggest guy in the industry. Since then Big Show has given back over and over, but I think this is the time Big Show put someone over big, and Rowan is a great guy for Big Show to help step up.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Erick Rowan
Erick Rowan has been really interesting since his split from the wyatts. I'm just glad he hasn't been forgotten about or shoved off to the side. Big Show is like Kane he is at the point where his success doesn't matter anymore and he is moving on to helping the young guys get over. Rowan wins here and goes on to feud with Harper.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Erick Rowan
This is the kind of match that would have been better suited to a show that goes by the name of Extreme Rules, not TLC, but I understand that given the way the turns were timed this is the direction WWE wanted to head in. A stairs match is an interesting concept as it’s not something I can recall off the top of my head seeing before. My one worry with this match is that the two big men could struggle to keep the crowds interest but I expect more than just stairs will be incorporated into this match. Rowan has really shown a different side to himself since his separation from Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt, and I am really liking the new side to him that has seen a much more aggressive character on display while still retaining that air of mystery about him. I’m expecting Rowan to pick up the win in this one and probably blow this program off.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Erick Rowan
Erick Rowan! Who knew right?! I think he has tapped into some big potential lately. When Sheamus went down they needed to replace him, and boy did Rowan step in and step up! He has been great lately. I have thoroughly enjoyed his work in the last month or so. Same thing as with Kane and Ryback, they are kind of blowing off Survivor Series, while also putting an up-and-coming talent with a reliable veteran to give them some seasoning. I’m fine with it as long as it establishes Rowan. The match itself may not be so bad. I’m really intrigued to see if they do anything new or big with those stairs. If I were Rowan I’d just be hoping I don’t end up with another goose egg on my head! Did you guys see how huge that thing was! I’m giving the win to the vintner!
Zack's Predicted Winner: Erick Rowan
While I absolutely abhor the fact that they have tried to shoehorn this match's stipulation into the PPV name, I am actually a bit excited about the match itself! I'm sorry that it took the injury of Sheamus for Rowan to get a look like he is, but he is more than proving he shouldn't have been an afterthought in the Wyatt Family. Sure, he hasn't been especially verbose, but he doesn't need to be. He's a big man, one who is just being allowed to shine in a singles realm and have a character peeled back like layers of an onion, and he is taking on another one in Big Show, one who at this stage in his career is showing the signs of fatigue and the toll travelling 300 days a year for almost 20 years. But he isn't what is needed at this juncture. Rowan looks to be going on to feud with his former "Brother", and if the teases over the past month have been any indication, then I am excited! So Rowan needs to leave this looking good.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Erick Rowan
Erick Rowan is a solid in ring talent for his size, however he's got two things going against him: a horrible entrance song and terrible ring attire. If WWE wants Rowan to be over with the kids he needs music that gets the crowd excited. His current theme sounds like something you would hear at a Chinese buffet. The concept of this match is exactly why I hate gimmick PPVs. A Steel Stairs match? They are getting too cute with his concept. Who needs the win more? I'm going with Big Show. He has more value to the WWE at this moment. Rowan and close in a good effort and be OK.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Big Show
Tag Team Championship Match:
The Miz and Damien Mizdow vs. The Usos
I think that Miz and Mizdow are going to squeak this one out, but just barely. The Usos are a much better and more cohesive team, but it's too early for the Usos to win the straps again. I think this is going to be the start of the issues between Miz and Mizdow. They will win with something dirty, but in doing so, Miz and Mizdow will form some sort of issue. I'm hoping the way Mizdow was motioning to Seth Green, on Raw, for him to call Mizdow was the first step of Mizdow wanting to get out from under Miz's shadow. Honestly, I cannot imagine how it feels to be Miz with Mizdow getting the serious pop he's been getting, but I will say he's a good sport and working toward the good of the WWE as a whole, and helping Mizdow get over specifically. I'm hoping the Usos are strapped again at WrestleMania, but for now, I see Miz and Mizdow getting the win and retaining.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Miz and Mizdow
It's not time for Miz and Mizdow to break up. However this is a perfect match to plant those seeds in. The Usos are a great team but they don't need to win the titles right now. A few months down the road would be fine. Miz steals the win after Mizdow does the work.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Miz and Mizdow
This match will be kicking off the night on the pre show and is a match that has been nicely built up over the last few weeks following Miz and his advances on Naomi, designed to get into they head of Jimmy Uso and cause issues for the challengers. Miz and Mizdow are probably the most over tag team in WWE right now mainly due to Damien Mizdow, and I said headed into Survivor Series that if any team was going to win the tag titles at the time it should be them. The Usos have had one heck of a year in the tag team division and are easily just as deserving of holding the titles again. Based on what we have seen over the last few weeks I expect Miz and Mizdow to retain in this one as I expect it is too early for the break up of the tag champions but I expect there to be a rematch next month at the Royal Rumble.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Miz and Midow
This match will be fun for sure. Between Sandow always been gold to watch, and the Uso’s always entertaining in-ring skills, I can honestly say I’m fairly excited for this match. It’s hard not to get behind Sandow, he’s funny and you can tell he’s making the very best of a very bad gimmick. God bless him. I will say I’d like to see this match be the beginning of the end for Miz and Sandow. Have Miz cause Sandow to get pinned by accident, then Miz blames Sandow for the loss. At the Rumble Sandow can eliminate Miz, If they work it right they can stretch it to Wrestlemania. I think the Usos deserve the titles, too.
Zack's Predicted Winner: The Usos
Talk about a filler defense! sadly, there is about as much depth on both sides of the tag team divisions, maybe 2-3 teams each, with an established joke team in each side of the fight. So, why should I remotely be excited here? The Usos, despite having a banner year in the tag team division as champs, have fallen by the wayside once they dropped the titles. And with the reactions that Miz and Mizdow are pulling off of one another, WWE would be stupid to not have an escape plan to start the inevitable feud. Personally, I want to see them drop the titles at Royal Rumble to the New Day and at Fast Lane, just as Miz trolling the crowd hard on Mizdow, Mizdow knocks the taste out of Miz's mouth and sets up the loss. But in order for anything interesting like that to happen, Miz and Mizdow have to win here.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Miz and Mizdow
There seems to be a common sentiment out there from fans that it's all Damien Mizdow. As if Miz deserves NO credit at all. What makes a great talent? It's someone that can change with the times. Has Miz done that in his career? Yes. To me Miz has had two different heel runs in the WWE. The first was a more aggressive, "I'll show you" heel run he had from 2009 to the end of his WWE Championship reign (a reign he clearly deserved despite what CM Punk tells you). His current heel run is made of more cockiness and less aggressiveness. Damien Sandow has done an unbelievable job in this role. He should be pushed heavily when the eventually break up happens. But that's just it. After they break up will Sandow be able to maintain his popularity without The Miz? We can clearly see a new feud on the horizon: Miz vs Jimmy Uso with Naomi being involved. It's just a guess but I can see Maryse (the greatest Divas Champion of all time) making her long awaited return to the WWE with this storyline. This match should be entertaining and exciting. The Usos don't get enough credit which isn't surprising because they aren't "darlings." Their matches for the Tag Team Championship (defending or challenging) over the last 18 months have been outstanding. I don't see them winning this because it doesn't advance the storyline with Naomi.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Miz and Mizdow
Divas Championship Match:
Nikki Bella © vs. AJ Lee
There's no question in my mind that Brie is going to be helping her sister and costing AJ this win. I don't know why Brie has suddenly decided to side with Nikki after all of their feuding, it's lame, stupid, and senseless. This is more of McMahon's thinking we don't have any memory for history. Further, having Brie being a heel on the episode of Raw that her dear husband was the GM for was even more bizarre! If the only reason Brie turned heel was to get a Divas Title shot, I'll rescind my comment, but as of right now, the whole thing is daft. So, basically Brie will help her sister cheat to win, and AJ will be left out in the cold, again.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
Nikki just won the title and AJ has been champion for the most part of the last 2 years so I'm going with the new champion and say Nikki Retains despite Brie getting ejected from ringside. I just hope it's given a decent amount of time. Nikki has improved a lot in the ring since she returned and AJ is a good wrestler.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
Following Nikki Bella’s solid outing on this weeks Smackdown, I am actually looking forward to watching this match. We all know AJ Lee is a solid in ring performer and that Nikki Bella can bring it to the ring when she is on her A Game. AJ caused a bit of a stir this week with her Slammy acceptance speech with some feeling she implied she would soon be leaving WWE. However I think this was just a case of misinterpreting what AJ meant and I can’t imagine she would imply live on TV she was intending to leave. I’m a huge fan of AJ Lee in the ring and I expect her to give it her all during this one but something tells me that Nikki Bella is going to retain her Divas Championship. There is a sneaking voice in the back of my head telling me that maybe Brie is suckering Nikki in and will eventually turn on her and cost her the title but I can’t see that happening on Sunday if that is the case. Nikki Bella retains here.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
Ugh oh lord please give it back to AJ. I’m not saying Nikki is a bad wrestler….I’m not saying it. I’m just thinking it...really, REALLY loudly. Like, screaming it at the top of my lungs inside my head. AJ just DESERVES the title. If we’re not going to make the Diva’s division a very competitive place at least give the title to the best worker there. Let’s not even begin on the ABSURD Bella storyline that was shoved down our throats for MONTHS just to end up with them both being heel for...reasons? This makes my head hurt. Moving on!
Zack's Predicted Winner: AJ Lee... please.
Well... This has been a whirlwind of a month, hasn't it?! We have rumors from NEWZ sites of AJ leaving again, AJ losing the title in less than a minute via a kiss, CM Punk's lambasting of the company and signing with UFC and AJ being in the crossfire, and AJ telling women everywhere that talent isn't sexually transmitted. WWE has tried to put the edge back into the Divas division, and while it hasn't all been great, it at least is a step in a better direction. But with as much as is already on the card, if anything was to be crunched or cut, this needs to be it. Nikki has improved in the ring, and while I love AJ, we are at the point that a 5 minute Diva's match is better served letting some of the other matches tell their stories. As for going forward, I had hopes that we could have had a title match after all of the "Bella Butler" shenanigans between the twins, but oh well. I still see Nikki holding the title, as they are going to want the title on her to give it great exposure on Total Divas.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
First off: Nikki Bella DESERVES to be Divas Champion. She has improved a lot in the ring and her power moves are impressive. I'm sick of hearing AJ (and her legion of misfit fans) bitch about The Bellas. AJ acts like she's the only diva to have a tough road to the WWE. I'm sick of her sob story. If I was running WWE I would much rather have The Bellas representing the company with PR than AJ and her condescending attitude. I took great issue with AJ's acceptance speech from RAW. She talked about the next wave of divas: Emma, Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha, etc. It's a classic example of someone praising others when their actual intent is to praise themselves for their selflessness. CM Punk is the master of that. Go figure. There are rumors that this may be AJ's last night in WWE. If so... YES! YES! YES!. I'll give credit to everything AJ has accomplished but to me she hasn't been that effective. Was Paige better off after working with AJ? No. When you look at AJ's reigns as champion what great match sticks out in your mind? There aren't many. One reason why is that she completely no sells for his opponents. She goes out of her way to bury her opponents. NXT showed us that there are two gals who are more than ready for the main roster: Charlotte and Sasha. Paige is just floating around with no clear direction. Emma has enough talent, but she needs a better character. And what about the best diva on the roster? No, not AJ. I'm talking about Lana. If WWE trains her right she can become the #1 babyface diva on the roster. It's not that difficult to turn her face eventually. All they have to do is get her to accept the greatness that is America. Perhaps Zeb could encourage her to say, "We the People!" As for the match I'm hoping Nikki gets the clean win over AJ. If this is her last night she needs to do the honors -- no interference, no cheating, just a convincing win.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella
United States Championship Match:
Rusev © vs. Jack Swagger
After Zeb's broken ankle, Swagger seems to have lost his mind. I think it's a great turn of his character. While I don't think it's time for him to beat Rusev, I've completely changed my mind about Swagger, and think he would be a great person to beat Rusev. Honestly, I wanted Angle to be the man to unseat Rusev, that makes the most sense to me, but obviously Angle didn't see it that way because he's not with the WWE. Beyond that, I have been down on Swagger for a long time. He really had an ego and did a lot of things that were both daft, and downright asshole to people, but since those issues, he's really stepped back and became a team player. He's not pushing to be a top guy (that we know of) and is working hard for the betterment of his own matches, his partners, his opponents, the mid-card, whichever show he's working, and the WWE as a whole. Further, he seems to be doing a lot to continue to improve as a Superstar all the way around. That's really impressed me, Swagger's really impressed me. So, I don't think this is the time for Rusev to lose, but I do think that time is growing closer. Because of this, because of Zeb, and because of Swagger's attack on Rusev, I think that it's going to be a DQ caused by Rusev. So Rusev won't have a clean loss on his record – yet, but it's coming.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Swagger via DQ
I don't think anyone really sees Swagger winning this match and ending Rusev's reign of terror. Which is why to shock everyone I think it will happen. Swagger brings the US title back home and Rusev is forced to do some character development.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Jack Swagger
Once again it’s the battle between Russia (Yes I know Rusev’s Bulgarian) and the USA. Swagger has come up against Rusev many times in the past and just like everyone else who has so far come up against the US Champion he has failed on every single occasion when it counts. Rusev has yet to be pinned or made to submit and I just cannot see Swagger being the man to change that going into this one. I expect plenty of drama and near falls in this one but ultimately there will only be one winner and that is going to be Rusev. His time to lose is still not here and if I were on the creative team in WWE, I would have him undefeated right up to Wrestlemania, before we see him defeated by a deserving opponent.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Rusev
To quote a funny thing I watch on the interwebs, “I feel like we’ve been here before. Have we been here before? Oh my God! This IS happening again!” No, but really...Jack Swagger and Rusev have battled how many times now? If Swagger wasn’t able to get the job done the first 45 times, why believe it now? Also, why have Rusev go from Swagger to Henry to Big Show and then back to Swagger? It doesn’t make sense from a booking standpoint. That said, I am surprisingly looking forward to this match. I know, I know I’m a huge hypocrite, feel free to hate on me in the comments section. The whole Real American vs. Russian sympathizer thing just works. I can’t help but get behind Swagger, and believe me I have not always been a fan of Jack Swagger. Yet, I just can not help but get my inner “mark” going when these guys square off. I just really want Swagger to beat Rusev! I would love to see Swagger capture the US Championship, but back to a booking mentality, I don’t see Swagger picking up the first “real” win on Rusev. Not without some kind of huge interference from someone else. Realistically, I have to give it to Rusev.
Zack's Predicted Winner: Rusev
At least this makes some logical sense. Why wouldn't the "Real American" Jack Swagger be trying to take the US Title off of the Bulgarian Brute? But the biggest issue is that this feud has recently happened, at SummerSlam none the lest. But when your roster is only 35 men deep and Rusev has already crushed everyone in the low and mid cards, then there are bound to be feuds that will repeat until WWE has the confidence to book him into the main event scene or to put someone over him. Unfortunately, I don't see Rusev losing until WrestleMania.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Rusev
Fans like to remind everyone of how WWE held Daniel Bryan back last year despite the loud reactions he was getting. That's all true. But what about Jack Swagger? When have the fans been most involved in Rusev's matches? It was his Summerslam match against Swagger. In fact the crowd has always been involved in all of their matches. "We the People" could have been the biggest thing in WWE, but they seemed like the wanted to prevent that from happening. Their excuse would be that they don't trust Jack Swagger. I say BS. To me the real reason why they didn't want "We the People" to get too over was because of politically reasons. Didn't Stephanie pen a letter to Michael Sam inviting him to RAW? Enough said. Let's talk about Rusev. He is a great in ring talent and his selling his vastly underrated. He sells that hurt ankle better than anyone I've seen. My issue with Rusev is his demeanor. When he talks he loses his credibility. I personally think he shouldn't talk -- that's what Lana is for. I'm predicting Rusev to win this one, but I want to talk more about his booking going forward. The main goal is to get the fans to hate Rusev and Lana. That's happening right now. But how can the hate get more intense? If they go with the potential match of Rusev vs Cena at WM for the US Championship you can bet the Cena haters will be rooting for Rusev. But if that happens it makes it like any other big feud for Cena. Can the WWE actually get the all the fans to root for Cena and boo Rusev? There are certainly ways to do this. And no, Rusev is NOT attacking a young Cena fan. Get that out of your head. WWE already tried to have Rusev attack a planted solider. That failed. What if Rusev burned the US flag? I know someone of you will get all butt hurt over this, but remember WWE is entertainment, not real life. Burning the flag is actually defended by some in this country. People say it's a freedom of expression. If that's the case then why get mad at WWE if they tried this? If they did this the potential Rusev/Cena match would take on a life of its own. On top of that the US Championship would be on the line. Fans are always complaining (and rightfully so) of the misuse of the mid card titles. In this scenario they would be treating the US Title match like a WWE Championship match.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Rusev
Kane vs. Ryback
The seeds planted when The Authority said that Ryback could be the biggest monster the WWE has ever seen, and then the camera zooming in on Kane's face. Then, when things didn't happen the way Steph and Trip expected, Ryback has been the one to go after Kane for this feud. Take down the scariest monster on the roster, and you will be the scariest? To be the man, you need to beat the man? What I don't like about all of this is that Kane has been Korporate Kane, and working the ring in dress pants. Kane needs to either go out there and fight Ryback as Kane should look, or he should lose to Ryback and come back as the Kane we all know and love. While I haven't been as down on Kane being unmasked as most, I think Korporate Kane has been one of the worst turns for Kane's character. Yes, these two men will work it hard, beat on each other, but it won't be the same until Kane is under the hood again. It's because Kane seems too soft in dress pants that I'm going with Ryback for the win, then Kane comes back after him as the masked Big red Machine, and then the real feud will really begin!
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Ryback
Ryback is doing pretty well with this reboot. I have enjoyed his work. Kane is at the stage of his career where it's time to step aside and put the younger guys over and make them look like a million buck in doing it. Ryback wins the match and continues his push.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Ryback
This is one of those matches where I think it’s going to be an ok watch but I’m not really feeling excited for this one as I sit here and think what to say about it. The stipulation of it being a chairs match gives it that little extra bit of spice but can anyone honestly say they really care that much about this one? I think that had this been a concessions match then maybe it might have something for me to care about as I enjoyed the interaction they had on Raw a few weeks ago but aside from the steel chair attacks we haven’t really been given much to talk about. Ryback is undoubtedly going to be your winner in this one but I expect at least Kane to give a veteran performance and Ryback to continue to show why he has improved in the ring since his return to action.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Ryback
Hey you know what’s really ironic? The fact that Kane had to work the concessions a few weeks back, and that’s where everyone is headed during this match. He would actually have more fans watching him if he was selling popcorn. Honestly, though, I have heard Kane is an amazing person in real life and I don’t mean this as an insult to him, but does anyone take Kane as threat anymore? They flip him back and forth between Masked Kane and Corporate Kane all the time. They job him out all the time. I just do NOT see him as a monster anymore. The match these guys have will probably not be good. Hopefully, Ryback will get a little education from the seasoned veteran. Obviously, with his new push Ryback takes home the victory and some beef jerky Kane still had from working concessions.
Zack's Predicted Winner: Ryback
Well, I never thought I'd be excited for a Ryback singles match, but I really am! He has been much better on every front since returning from injury. And while he has been made to look more human and not like the monster he was first booked as, he is expanding his move set and showing all of his former detractors, myself included, that he just needed proper backing. Kane, though, is the key example of what booking like Ryback's initial booking causes a career. The face/heel switches and the numerous times where he would be pushed up just to be jobbed out months later made fans just apathetic towards any big run he had. And while I am not a fan of the "Chairs" stipulation, it is one that protects the aging Kane from looking bad in the ring. But in the end, the only thing that furthers storylines and careers here is if Kane goes under to Ryback. WWE needs to elevate new talent, and this seems to be the perfect PPV to do it on.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Ryback
Can we give Ryback some credit for coming out of the doldrums and back into top position in WWE? Ryback got a crappy gimmick in NXT and was able to reinvent himself. He made an immediate impact on the main roster before losing 6 straight PPVs. Quite honestly WWE sacrificed Ryback's push for 434 days of CM Punk. How's that working out for WWE right now? Kane is a future Hall of Famer but his value has completely diminished. A big reason why is WWE has overexposed Kane's character on television. Should Ryback dominate this match? No. I want to see Kane deliver a beating to Ryback with those chairs only for Ryback to make a comeback for the win.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Ryback
Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship:
Luke Harper © vs. Dolph Ziggler
I'm very excited to see Ziggler in a great match at TLC, but almost anything but going after the WWE WHC (which we haven't seen in how long?) will be a step back for him. I just hope that the momentum that was built for Ziggler will continue before it fizzles out. Having Ziggler win the Royal Rumble would be sick, and possibly the perfect time for him – but there's so many other young names poised for the same slot. Ziggler has what it takes to be a top guy, and while he's shown that over and over, it was Survivor Series that he PROVED it, and then his speech at the Slammy Awards cemented it. I am not sure how I feel about him facing Harper, but he does deserve a clean match against the man who screwed him out of the IC Title. Their styles are so different, but this could further help show Ziggler's versatility. If he can steal the show against Harper, there's nothing he cannot do! And, as much as I think Ziggler should get the strap back, I don't want to see Harper's push screwed in the process. I don't want to say that this will be another dirty or screwy finish, as I already have two of those in my predictions, I'm not sure of any other way this could go. Harper does not a ladder-climber physique, and the type of guy who usually gets blasted for being booked in MITB matches, even though he has HUGE talent. That being said, Harper took the fall on Smackdown, and that could mean he's going to get the win at TLC? Yes, I'm running in circles on this one. Screw it, I just flipped a coin. I'm going with Ziggler for the win.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler
This will be a showstealer. Both are very talented and should go all out to put on the best match they can. I think Harper needs to retain from the stand point of it helping his position as well as Ziggler doesn't need the title anymore. Harper wins and we see a feud with rowan down the pike for the title.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Luke Harper
This is one of the matches I really am looking forward to seeing take place. The added stipulation of the ladder makes it that bit more interesting and I expect a solid performance from both Harper and Ziggler. Dolph is coming hot off the heels of the biggest night of his career following his amazing performance at Survivor Series, while Luke Harper continues to impress the WWE Universe with his amazing agility for such a big man. I hope these two can continue their feud a little longer beyond this match as we know both men can perform at the top level and they both have plenty to give. I’m expecting plenty of crazy ladder spots during this one that will leave our jaws wide open. As for a winner in this one I expect Harper to retain his Intercontinental Championship, with these two having a final match or blow off at the Royal Rumble.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Luke Harper
I, along with probably many others, feel that this match is a step back for Dolph Ziggler coming out of Survivor Series. Even worse, I think that this is a lose, lose situation for Dolph. The Intercontinental Championship will keep him anchored to the mid-card so having him win just religates him right back to where he was, but having him lose makes him look weak coming off a very hot win from Survivor Series. It’s tough to call. If I were booking it I would have Harper retain, but make it a dirty finish. Do what they did back in Hell in a Cell where someone interferes so that Harper can retain, while setting up a bigger rivalry for Ziggler because of the interference.
Zack's Predicted Winner: Luke Harper
Now this is going to be a great match! Harper has been on a meteoric rise since his break away from the Wyatt Family, and with each passing week, he is quickly showing why WWE officials have so much confidence in him. And Ziggler is finally starting to get that breakout moment again because we fans are forcing the issue with him, giving WWE little choices in the matter. And we are now stuck in the middle thanks to it, because in order to get new stars or one we want pushed, the other has to suffer. But with the stipulation in effect, I have to give an edge to Ziggler. Dolph winning would make him a 4 time Intercontinental Champion, setting him on a path with the man I feel he best resembles at this phase of his career: Chris Jericho. And by Harper losing the title here, he won't look weak for his next feud.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: DolphZiggler
If you're worried about WWE not pushing Ziggler all the way you are dreaming. Based on Survivor Series I'm fully convinced WWE will push Ziggler hard. WWE knows about the vocal fans. To me they are basically telling the vocal fans that Dolph Ziggler is your guy. Personally I don't feel the vocal fans will get behind Ziggler with the same passion that they got behind CM Punk or Daniel Bryan. All three have had trials and tribulations in the WWE. But there's a big difference: Punk and Bryan were "ROH guys" while Ziggler was a homegrown talent in WWE. In other words vocal fans will be hesitant to really get behind Ziggler because he doesn't have the "Indy" background. When Ziggler lost the IC title to Luke Harper I wasn't worried. I figured it was a classic example of on screen management screwing the face champion only for him to fight for it back. That's what I see happening on Sunday. Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper will have the match of the night with the Show Off grabbing the title for the win. Hopefully this leads to a huge IC Title match for Ziggler at WM. Who could his opponent be? :Perhaps Daniel Bryan? A passing of the torch, darling edition at WM?
Justin's Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Tables Ladders and Chairs:
Bray Wyatt vs, Dean Ambrose
First off, WTF are they thinking of having this match without something hanging from the rafters? LAME! Beyond the lame booking of it all, this could be the match of the night. This is the match I'm tuning in to see. I think this is the only match that even has the possibility of standing up to NXT's R Evolution, and only because of who is in it. Ambrose is not mythological, he may be a gutter rat, but he is one of the top men to watch in the WWE, and will be for years to come. The Eater of Worlds has been compared to Taker, and while he's great, he's not the anchor Taker once was for the WWE. What Bray could be is an enigma who evolves, and that's why I see Taker in him. Putting the Eater of Worlds and Lunatic Fringe in the ring, and letting them go at it with table, ladders, and chairs – OH MY! My biggest hope for this show is that these two are allowed to really go at it. I don't need color, but I think letting things fall where they may, and giving them the time they deserve, the fans and their careers will be the ultimate winners.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
This will be quite the match. Unlike most I have no problem that nothing is on the line to be climb and taken down here as I think this will be a more exciting and interesting match with pinfalls and submissions then if something was hanging for them to grab. Neither guy can really afford to lose this match, however someone has too. So I think it will be Ambrose that wins the match ending his year on a high note.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
I’m not going to lie; this is the match I really am looking forward to seeing the most on Sunday. Everything about this feud has had me hooked from the amazing promo’s from Bray, to the equally top draw promos from Ambrose, all the way through to the sneak attacks we have seen both men lay on one another. I was disappointed these two did not have the match we all hoped to see at Survivor Series, but I have no doubt that with the TLC stipulation added to the match they will more than make our wait worthwhile. Expect some of the most insane and crazy spots we will see this year to come out to play in this one. Bray’s assault on Ambrose on Raw this past week after Ambrose made that amazing entrance in the ambulance was a real quality display and it was brutal watching him ram Ambrose throat into the stairs with the steel chair. Despite Wyatt’s apparent advantage in this one following his attacks I expect Dean Ambrose to come out of this match as the winner in what I am fully confident will easily be the match of the night that will see the fans come out the real winners.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose have the potential to do great work, but so far I have been underwhelmed with their story. I have a feeling that might all change at TLC though, they have very good odds of stealing the show. The card isn’t exactly “stacked” and these guys do great work. I think between that and the stipulation of TLC, they are gonna be match of the night. It will be interesting to see where things go. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a little color pop up in this match. I know it’s a terrible thing to think, but a bloody Bray Wyatt is the freakin’ scariest, coolest thing I can think of. With Ambrose’s more extreme background, I think this is going to be his playground. He is going to show off his roots in this match. Overall, this match will be fun if nothing else. The thing that concerns me is who is going to take the loss, because both guys could really use a win right now. Literally and metaphorically. I have to say that Ambrose needs the win a little bit more right now.
Zack's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
Out of all of the matches on the card, this one is easily the best built on the card. Heck, it has been done over two PPVs. Honestly, I loved the non-finish that they had at Survivor Series, and the last three weeks have been even more great programming between the two men. They each have a firm grasp of who they are as characters, and they work well off one another. But with no real stakes other than maiming one another, I feel like TLC is a bit wasted here. Why have the ladders legal if there's nothing to retrieve with them? But other than that little issue in my eyes, this is sure to be a slobberknocker! Bray and Dean both have little regard to their bodies, and I'm sure that we will see a ton of high and crazy spots from both men. Given the stipulation, it seems unlikely that it will end in a no contest, so I have to give it to the man who has the momentum behind him right now.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
What happens when you put two internet darlings together in a feud? You get underwhelming results? Need proof? Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt got "This is Awesome" chants in their first interaction, yet the feud ended up being below average. Don't blame WWE booking. These two got plenty of time out there. The crowd simply didn't care too much. What about AJ and Paige? They feuded for months. Another underwhelming feud. Paige got very little out of that (more on that later). The problem is when you put two darlings together the hardcore fans become conflicted on who to cheer for. This is what you get when fans decide to cheer for heels and boo for faces when WWE puts a traditional feud in front of them. I feel like Ambrose's momentum was hurt by the shady finish at HIAC. WWE could have had Ambrose win that match and then Bray could have interfered. But if Ambrose wins this match convincingly he will be back on track headed into the new year. Bray Wyatt is someone that needs a change. Not a change in character but a change in creative direction. It's time WWE fully utilizes "Sister Abigail." Bray's been talking about her for quite some time -- now it's time we see the real person. I'm sure WWE can find someone to fill that role.
Justin's Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose
If John Cena loses, he is no longer #1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs. Seth Rollins
I've heard too many rumors about Rollins joining Cena and Brock for Brock's next big outing for me to think this will be a clean ending. Also, it doesn't hurt that too many WWE PPV main events have wonky endings. Now, I'm not sure if maybe Paul E. Dangerously will end up ringside and cost Cena the clean win, or maybe Orton appears to try to screw over Rollins. There's a number of directions for them to go with this that could be interesting and beyond a simple screw, though nothing they do could ever be as epic as Sting at Survivor Series – we all know that. While I do expect this to be a decent match (nothing compared to NXT this week), I don't see it standing up to a couple others on the card. Cena is decent at stepping out of the box in gimmick matches, really knows how to step up, and I have been impressed with his work in tables matches, but he's just not as creative as some of the younger guys coming up. Cena was after the AE, and many of the young guys are stepping back toward that type of creativity – while keeping it mostly PG. I think Cena, like Hogan, did most of his work in an era that he could be more conservative in the ring. That time is passing, and these guys are stepping up in a more creative way. Some will say reckless, but I think it's out and out creativity. Back is Foley's double underhook suplex, just to name one move we haven't seen in years! They are stepping out of the box, and I'm not sure how Cena will be able to keep up with them. When pushed, like the night the ring broke and Cena worked against ADR without a proper ring, he does some of his best work, though I'm not sure Cena has it in him on a regular basis. Therefore this match will be good, but not as great as if Rollins was working the ring against one of his contemporaries. Honestly, I'd love to see what Rollins could bring to a Triple Threat Match with Cena and Brock, so I have to go with some sort of strange ending. If Cena loses, he loses his slot, so he cannot lose clean. But we need to get Rollins in there, so something strange will happen, but not specifically dirty from Rollins or J&J Security. J&J Security might try, but I think it will be something completely removed from Rollins that causes the funky ending.
Kendra's Predicted Winner: Something wonky!
This match could go either way. A Tables match in and of itself is unpredictable because anything can and sometimes does go wrong and the match end at the wrong time or even wrong winner as a result. The last time Cena was put in a tables match at TLC it was against Sheamus in 2009 and he lost the WWE Championship to the Young guy. I'm going to say somehow some way lighting strikes twice and Seth Rollins beats John Cena and the Rollins era begins.
Josh's Predicted Winner: Seth Rollins
So here it is, the match that will most likely be the main event of the night and that will help the show end with a dramatic twist. Seth Rollins hasn’t seemed to lose too much momentum on TV despite the fact he no longer has the protection of the Authority to keep him safe while John Cena is looking to gain an element of revenge following his shock elimination during the main event of Survivor Series. Rollins has without a doubt been one of the stand out performers of 2014 and is without a doubt probably the top heel in the company right now. If anyone is going to challenge John Cena for that spot as the top guy in the company then I believe Rollins is one of the few guys WWE has that can successfully do that. The two really did a good job on Smackdown leaving us wanting more after their opening segment and I am looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table. As for the outcome in this match I am left wondering what is exactly going to happen. I can give you reasons as to why both men should be going over but for some reason I expect a twist. I originally had this one down to be a no contest in my mind with a returning Brock Lesnar causing both men to go through a table at the same time. However I’ve had a change of heart and think we are going to see a clear winner in this and that man will be John Cena. I expect Randy Orton to return and cost Seth the match which will lead to a match at the Royal Rumble between Lesnar and Cena. Whether Seth will have some involvement in the match at the Rumble or not will remain to be seen but as much as I would like to see Seth go over in this one I just can’t see where WWE goes with a Championship match if he goes over.
Jamie's Predicted Winner: John Cena
So the booking behind this match is ...iffy, but I’m going to roll with it because I’m glad to see Seth Rollins working in the main event and getting more and more spotlight. In the interest of trying to be more optimistic, I dare say I’m looking forward to this match. I’m sure I’ll get heat for it, but I enjoy John Cena and I think he does a good job of helping younger talent when he can. (Haters are welcome to comment in the comments section below, my name is Zack Krasney...hate on) Tables matches are always fun, too. I always enjoy the near crashes. I also get a guilty pleasure out of hoping someone is going to accidentally break and go through a table before they’re supposed to by accident because the tables are weak. Here is my long term fantasy booking. John Cena and Seth Rollins battle it out, Lesnar comes out and puts them both through a table. This leads to Cena vs. Rollins vs. Lesnar for the title. In their triple threat match Lesnar pins Cena, but just barely gets the win and then the moment the match is over Lesnar gets a curbstomp, Cena gets a curbstomp, the Rollins cashes in the Money in the Bank and beats Lesnar.
Zack's Predicted Winner: No Contest
I am really not looking forward to this one. Rollins has been lackluster without Triple H guiding him on his promos, and Cena has been, well, Cena. And while I know that both men will put on a quality match, as it is rare to see either put on a bad one, it just feels like there is little thought going into the creative direction here. They can't pull the number one contendership off of Cena, as he is the only man on the main roster that remotely ready to take down Lesnar. But by the same token, if Cena goes over Rollins cleanly here, fans are going to not only cool on Rollins but start the accusations of Cena burying a rising star again. So the only option we have left is Rollins losing by some sort of interference. Considering that The Condemned 2 is still filming, that leaves it being the man that has appeared on WWE programming twice this week: Roman Reigns. It would help continue the feud they had before Roman's injury, and wouldn't weaken Rollins' stock in the fans eyes.
Jesse's Predicted Winner: John Cena via Roman Reigns
Isn't it amazing how much better the promos are for Seth Rollins when Triple H and Stephanie aren't around? It's sort of like how Randy Orton started to shine in July of this year when he got away from being next to Triple H and Stephanie. My point? The Authority is hurting the show. Triple H is fine, but Stephanie has regressed as a character. As for the match we can expect fans to be disgruntled of Rollins loses. But as fans we can't be quick to complain when someone loses. It's important to view how someone loses. Ziggler lost on RAW but he got distracted by the new stooges before getting curb stomped. I expect Randy Orton to make his return to WWE and in doing so cost Seth Rollins the match. Perhaps we see a #rkouttanowhere that puts Seth Rollins through the table and ensures Cena his chance at Brock for the title. Orton is gifted enough and Rollins is athletic enough to pull off a dramatic RKO through the table.
Justin's Predicted Winner: John Cena
