Brian Fritz reported on SportingNews.com that TNA Wrestling is late on paying production staff and has "shorted them on past dates."
According to the report, citing anonymous sources, the workers are owed money for the One Night Only tapings that took place February 13-16 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The aforementioned workers have reportedly been told the checks were cut on April 3, 2015 and in the mail but no one has received them yet. Another excuse that has been used is the checks were delayed due to weather.
One source in the report stated this is the third year in a row he and others have had to wait more than 60 days to receive payment. It’s gotten to the point where they are telling other freelancers to avoid doing work for TNA.
The report comes on the heels of rumors TNA has been late on paying talent, which is believed to have played a part in Taz’sdeparture announced earlier in the week.
At least one contracted TNA talent is speaking out against the rumors as Matt Hardy went as far as Tweeting images of five checks that he received from the company on Monday.
In addition to the checks — one in the amount of $4,000 — Hardy stated TNA pays him so well and often that he almost feels bad. He also claimed to have never experienced issues with his pay and that TNA has been the “epitome of professionalism.”
TNA executive Bob Ryder seemed to cheer Matt on for his Tweets, ReTweeting the following:
