JR Discusses The Celebrity Wing Of The WWE Hall Of Fame, Future Main Eventers & Who The Best Super Heavyweight Ever Is, More

Jim Ross has a new blog entry available on his official website. Below are some highlights:

-What is the 'Celeb Wing' of the WWE HOF? I've always viewed it as a honorary award. It should not be compared to the standard, WWE HOF induction. For example, to ask how Drew Carey can be in the HOF and Randy Savage is not isn't an extremely bright question. One has zero to do with the other. Comparing celebs and tradition wrestlers/wrestling personalities is like comparing apples to oranges.

-Who are two WWE superstars who seem to be catching on? Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler are both evolving nicely. I also think Jack Swagger has unlimited potential. In the territory days, these three would be prime examples of athletes who would earn success for a few years in various territories before being brought to WWE. The system has changed but taking time to evolve hasn't. Many fans have no patience and many talents don't put in the extra work in and out of the ring to get to the next level. These talents do and will be main event stars at some point unless injuries or other issues arise.

-Best super heavyweight ever? Obviously, Andre the Giant is in every conversation but Andre was most effective when he was seen less and kept as an 'attraction.' Yokozuna, at 500+ pounds, wrestled a regular schedule and had uncanny timing and agility for a man his size. Yoko would get my nod as the best super heavyweight I ever saw taking into consideration that Andre was an 'attraction' wrestler. If Yoko could have controlled his legendary eating habits and maintained better health his accomplishments would be even more extraordinary. Yoko left us much too young.

I agree with Yokozuna and I hope WWE puts him in the HOF soon

    • Mike

Put him in the HOF? He's such a huge star he'll need his own wing!

      I'm sorry… I don't know what's with me and the jokes today.

  • Geezer

I agree that Dolph Ziggler has the potential to be a long-term main eventer.

Props to JR for squashing a needless debate about Drew Carey & the Celeb wing. I've always said it wasn't right how people booed him not knowing where he was really going in the HOF. Even when people told them time & time again they just did not want to listen to reason. Finally JR calls it exactly what it is; those people just weren't bright enough to understand. All HOF's have celeb wing that are basically honorary to the athlethe's HOF. I never liked how the 'fans' ruined that moment for him.

While I agree Yoko was a tremendous worker for his size, I have to go with Vader. More success in more promotions than Yoko, and he had better agility than Yoko.

Woah…….. What about big show!!!! For a guy so huge his athletic ability is amazing – I think he even performed a drop kick in one of his bouts!!!!!! I actually met Yoko the day before he passed, along with Greg Valentine & the guy was freakin huge – it was a shame that the only thing he did in his match was a leg drop – I think his size just got too much 🙁

Yokozuna, Big Show, Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Big ohn Studd were all great super heavyweights that had great in ring work, then theres guys like Abdullah ,King Kong Bundy, Earthquake and Tugboat/Typhoon aka Shockmaster that were great presences and had decent ring guy work for thier size……….then there are guys like Giant Gonzales and Khali that should be no where near this list.

if there is one star who could be a rock or stone cold kind of star that's dolph ziggler, he has everything a 5 tool player as they say in baseball and than some. i hope after wrestlemania cena goes off on a short 6 months break so when he comes back his character could seem a bit fresh,

Jack Swagger has unlimited potential? I just don't see ANY potential…
