Key WWE Storyline Updates: Title Match On Raw, Cena's Future, Royal Rumble

In addition to our preview of this week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, we’ll also update key storylines to catch you up following the holidays:

  • Mr. McMahon will work as the special guest referee for this week’s Raw main event between Roman Reigns and Sheamus for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.  WWE is looking to engage viewers with the big title match main event, prior to next week's return of Brock Lesnar.
  • John Cena is back and the first order of business from a creative standpoint is to blowoff his program with Alberto Del Rio. We’re told officials want to move on quickly here, so expect a blowoff sooner than later.
  • Big Show and Curtis Axel are two of 30 announced entrants for the 30-man Royal Rumble match, expect more entrants to be announced on this week’s Raw.
  • As seen on last week’s episode of Smackdown, WWE has split Tyler Breeze and Summer Rae.

Maybe WWE needs to have some NXT star tell Cena that he has this and will put the title in good hands. Cena in a way would be giving his nod of confidence. Maybe Cena could even protect the person to win the title.

    • Scott

if done right, this could be the ideal way to introduce Sami Zayn and build to a big match between Zayn and Owens at Mania.

You could go about it any number of ways, and it would work. Good call sir.

      • Kyle Williams

That would be pretty cool, especially if it gives the push to Zayn

My only thing is theres a difference between nxt and wwe like ncaa and the nfl, nxt stars are big fish in a small pond thats the only reason I wouldnt have an nxt talant have the wwe championship out the get

  • So glad Breeze is rid of Summer Rae. Their paring made absolutely no sense based on Breeze’s character. He’s supposed to be too good for everyone. It makes more sense that he’s alone.
