Tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown emanates from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida inside of the WWE ThunderDome and is headlined by the new Universal Champion, Roman Reigns addressing the future of the Blue brand along with his new sidekick, Paul Heyman. WWE has also announced a fatal-4-way match to determine Reigns’ challenger for the Clash of Champions PPV, later this month.

Before the show begins, let’s see what tonight has in-store...

Universal Champion, Roman Reigns Addresses The Future Of Friday Night SmackDown

Big E, Matt Riddle, King Corbin and Sheamus Battle It Out To Determine The #1 Contender For The Universal Championship

Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax Defend The WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championships Against SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bayley & Sasha Banks

The show begins with a video package highlighting Roman Reigns capturing the Universal Championship, last Sunday at Payback when he defeated ‘The Fiend’, Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

The aforementioned new Champion, Reigns then heads down to the ring being flanked by Paul Heyman.

Heyman says it’s not his fault Reigns is like this...Reigns is actually making him (Heyman) act like this, now. Heyman says he was thrown into obscurity before being saved by Reigns who pulled him back into relevancy. Heyman says nobody thanked Reigns for putting his life into danger every single night and when he wanted to take time away because of his life-threatening illness they took his championship away from him...a Fiend isn’t supposed to be a champion...a Monster isn’t supposed to be a Champion...a WWE Champion is supposed to be what Roman embodies...and later tonight there will be a match to determine Roman’s next challenger at Clash of Champions...and the winner gets to be a sacrificial lamb to Roman Reigns...& he won’t even mention the participants names and he’ll let Anderson Cooper (Michael Cole) and Carmella’s latest boyfriend (Corey Graves) tell you who they are...& he’ll leave you with this...his name is Paul Heyman...and he served as special council to the reigning, defending WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

Reigns says he’s a man of his word...he did exactly what he said he was going to do...sign the contract, wreck The Fiend, wreck The Monster and leave with the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship...and it doesn’t matter who he faces at Clash of Champions because he’ll show up, wreck everything and leave...and you can believe that.

It’s then announced that Heavy Machinery will take on The Miz & John Morrison after a commercial break...

  • Match - Heavy Machinery (Otis & Tucker) vs The Miz & John Morrison

Highlights (Heavy Machinery vs The Miz & John Morrison)

Result - Heavy Machinery defeats The Miz & John Morrison

After the match, John Morrison steals Otis’ Money in The Bank briefcase and runs off with it.

We then see Big E, backstage who is excited that Xavier Woods is returning and a security guard walks in to inform him that Woods has arrived to the arena but as he gets to the parking lot, Sheamus attacks him, drills him with a ‘Brogue Kick’ against a garage door and then hits a nasty ‘White Noise’ slam onto the windshield of a car as WWE officials arrive to stop Sheamus from causing anymore harm as we head to a commercial break.

  • WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championships - Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax (C) vs Bayley & Sasha Banks

Highlights (Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax vs Bayley & Sasha Banks)

Result - Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax defeat Bayley & Sasha Banks, And STILL WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions

After the finally happened...Bayley beat the absolute HELL out of Sasha Banks.

After a commercial break, we see Sasha Banks, who’s on a stretcher, getting loaded into an ambulance and will be transported to a local medical facility.

Sami Zayn then makes his way to the ring. Sami takes a headset and talks to production and asks why they didn’t include ‘Intercontinental Champion’ to his entrance and then the actual Intercontinental Champion, Jeff Hardy interrupts and says if he wanted a shot at the title, all he had to do was ask and then AJ Styles makes his way to the ring...Styles & Zayn attack Hardy who fights off the pair before finally succumbs to the numbers and gets drilled for the second straight week with a ‘Helluva Kick’.

It’s then announced that due to Big E’s injury, Jey Uso will step into his place in the fatal-4-way match for the #1 contender’s spot for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.

A quick promo is shown of a woman in heels with a fur coat walking around but we don’t see who it is...teasing a debut or return.

We then see a quick Firefly Funhouse where Bray Wyatt tells us that even though it’s a sad time because ‘HE’ (The Fiend) lost his favorite toy (the Universal Championship) that it’s actually an exciting time and next week, we’ll have a new friend in the Funhouse!

Alexa Bliss is then shown, backstage where she apologizes to Nikki Cross for acting weird for the past few weeks then gives Cross a hug...but in the background...there’s Ramblin’ Rabbit...

It’s now time for our main event of the evening...
