Tony Ferguson and Rafael dos Anjos picked up $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their main event fight at UFC Fight Night 98 on Saturday night. For those that missed our live stream and didn’t follow along in real time, the fight was full of kicks, knees, elbows and punches. It was a wild back and forth left up to the judges and their scorecard.
Ferguson (22-3) is now on a nine-fight win streak and hasn’t lost since his defeat to Michael Johnson on May 5, 2012. dos Anjos (25-9) has now lost two straight, as Eddie Alvarez beat him back in July. Prior to that, he had won five straight fights.
Douglas Silva de Andrade and Ricardo Lamas each earned $50,000 for “Performance of the Night.” Silva de Andrade def. Henry Briones via TKO (elbow and spinning back fist) at 2:33 of round three on the preliminary card.
Lamas def. Charles Oliveira via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:13 of round two. Everyone was rooting for Lamas, who had his fight against BJ Penn scheduled for last month canceled and fought Oliveria who weighed in nine pounds over weight. He showcased the fact he’s a submission specialist. Lamas, 34, has never lost a professional fight in Mexico.
