The UFC has confirmed that Ronda Rousey will challenge Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship in the main event of UFC 207 on December 30, 2016.
Rousey held the title from November 2012 to November 2015 when she was shocked by Holy Holm at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia, the only loss of her mixed martial arts career.
Nunes has a 6-1 UFC record and submitted Miesha Tate in the first round of their fight at UFC 200 to win the UFC women’s bantamweight championship.
Dana White stated on Wednesday that if Rousey beats Tate, her next fight will definitely be against Cris Cyborg. Cyborg has been calling out Rousey over the course of the last several weeks.
UFC 207: Nunes vs. Rousey will emanate from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. No other fights have been confirmed at press time.
