Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes are among the latest UFC layoffs made by new owners WME-IMG. Approximately 10-15 employees were let go this week.
The cutbacks are part of WME-IMG’s efforts to restructure their new empire in ways they see fit. Liddell, one of the greatest light heavyweights of all-time, retired in 2010. He’s also close friends with Dana White.
Hughes retired in 2013 and issued these comments on Friday to MMAFighting.com:
"The UFC has been great to me," Hughes told MMA Fighting Friday night. "Times change, and I understand the decision that was made. I will move on. My family and I are fine.
"I do love adventure, and who knows what's next for me.
These cuts follow approximately 70-80 layoffs that were made over a month ago.
