To expound on our earlier report where we noted an announcement regarding the UFC future of CM Punk could be coming soon, Punk did offer a loose timetable while being interviewed by Ariel Helwani Monday on The MMA Hour.
Punk (0-1) stated he would like to get back in the cage as soon as January or February next year. He’s been looking at what he did wrong and what he did right in his fight against Mickey Gall back in September. There is a good chance Punk will fight again at 170 (as a welterweight) but there is still the possibility he takes the fight at 185 pounds (middleweight) due to the difficulty he had cutting weight.
Nothing regarding Punk's future in the octagon is official but if the UFC was going to cut him, one would think they would have already done so. It certainly appears that he will fight again.
Speaking of which, Gall will fight again next month, as he’ll face Sage Northcutt at UFC on Fox 22: VanZant vs. Waterson on Dec. 17, 2016 in Sacramento, California.
