Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone is scheduled for his fourth fight of the year against Kelvin Gastelum on Nov. 12 at UFC 205 but if he gets his way, it won’t be his last. Cerrone called out Demian Maia for a potential fight on the UFC 207 card on December 30, 2016 in Las Vegas. Below is a transcription of what he said courtesy of MMAFighting.com:
"What I really want to do and what would make the most sense is Demian Maia," Cerrone said Wednesday. "See if Demian would be ready to fight on Dec. 30. That makes sense for sure. He's out there kicking ass, so that's who I want to fight.”
Cerrone (28-0-1) believes that Dana White thinks he’s crazy but told him to get through his fight against Gastelum at UFC 205 and then they would talk.
Maia (24-6) defeated Carlos Condit via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC on Fox 21 last August.
