Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis for the interim UFC featherweight championship is the new main event of UFC 206, MMAFighting.com is reporting.

According to the report, the UFC tried to book Anthony Johnson against Gegard Mousasi but Johnson has now decided to wait for Daniel Cormier to get healthy. Johnson was scheduled to get a shot at Cormier and the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at the show but it was canceled on Friday when Cormier withdrew because of injury. Originally, Johnson was going to stay on the card and fight someone else.

Jose Aldo, who was the interim featherweight champion, is likely to become the new UFC Featherweight Champion, with Conor McGregor being stripped of the title. McGregor remains UFC Lightweight Champion.

Holloway (16-3) hasn’t lost in nine straight fights and Pettis (19-5) is coming off a submission victory against Charles Oliveira back in August.

UFC 206 will take place on December 10, 2016 from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We’ll have a live stream right here at WrestlingNewsWorld.com.
