Kelvin Gastelum's suspension is a bigger deal than originally thought. As it turns out his suspension for missing the mandatory weigh-in at UFC 205 in New York City will extend across the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) database.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the news on Twitter:
">November 22, 2016
Gastelum is appealing the ban. Apparently missing weigh-ins for a fight scheduled in New York carries a mandatory suspension, something that is not the norm for fighters under UFC contract.
Gastelum (12-2) has agreed to fight Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 next month but the Ontario Athletic Commission, who will sanction that fight, is part of the ABC and would honor the suspension. His fight against Donald Cerrone was removed from UFC 205 when he could not make weight.
