Fedor Emelianenko’s deal to fight for Bellator MMA is a multi-fight deal that will begin at Bellator 172 on February 18, 2017 in San Jose, California.
His signing comes as a result of his close relationship with Bellator CEO Scott Coker and is a thrill to everyone on the Bellator roster. There are questions as to how effective Emelianenko will be at this stage of his career.
Emelianenko is 40 years old and lost three of his four fights in Strikeforce. His last fight was on June 17, 2016 in St. Petersburg, Russia where was ruled the winner against Fábio Maldonado but according to Dave Meltzer, the win was later changed to a draw in review scoring. Maldonado was cut by the UFC last year.
Regardless, Fedor Emelianenko is still a major name that will hopefully continue the growth of Bellator MMA.
