There was a mishap after Conor McGregor knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight championship in the main event of UFC 205 on Saturday - they didn’t have a second belt readily available. As a result, they got the UFC Welterweight Championship belt and had McGregor carry it around with his newly won Lightweight Championship. When asked in the post-fight press conference about it, McGregor, stated:
”Maybe that’s a sign of things to come”
Tyron Woodley, who retained the UFC Welterweight Championship in a majority draw against Stephen Thompson, was asked for his opinion and said this:
If (McGregor) wants to fight wet an it right now… I just don’t think it’s a good idea for him.
