Tyron Woodley will defend the UFC Welterweight Championship against number one contender ”Wonderboy” Stephen Thompson at UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 12, 2016.
Woodley, who provided in-studio analysis at last night’s UFC Fight Night 94, won the title in July by beating Robbie Lawler at UFC 201.
Thompson has won his last seven fights, including impressive victories over Johny Hendricks (TKO), Jake Ellenberger (knockout) and Robert Whittaker (TKO). His last fight was in June at UFC Fight Night 89 when he beat Rory MacDonald via unanimous decision.
Woodley has expressed interest in fighting Nick Diaz or Georges St-Pierre but those fights will have to wait following the title defense in November.
