Paul Heyman A Staple On WWE TV, Disaster On Raw, Why Daniel Bryan Is No Longer A Vegan, Homosexual Wrestlers In WWE

What are the plans for Paul Heyman other than just carrying Punk's title belt?

Paul Heyman, like any manager, is limited because he doesn't wrestle but he has had an instant impact in WWE. Originally brought back as a mouthpiece for Brock Lesnar (at the desire of his real-life friend CM Punk), he was paired with the WWE Champion because Punk suggested it. WWE is already developing "Paul Heyman guy" merchandise and his influence is spreading throughout the locker room. It's funny because when Lesnar was brought back earlier this year a constant was that the deal would not include Heyman under any circumstances. Now, due to Punk's tremendous backstage influence, Heyman is once again a staple on WWE television (and to a lesser extent, a player in the locker room).

Why would WWE allow Ryback to attempt his finisher on Tensai if he didn't have the strength to lift him up?

Ryback isn't the one being blamed for this disastrous go-home sequence of the match on this week's WWE Raw but the heat is on the shoulders of Tensai. You can read more at this link.

I saw the restaurant segment on Raw where Kane and Daniel Bryan traded meals. After doing some research online I couldn't find anything that said whether or not it was a real meatball that Daniel Bryan took a bite of, or if it was soy/vegetable based. Do you know if Bryan is still a vegan?

Daniel Bryan is no longer a vegan due to a soy intolerance that he developed. Bryan explained he kept getting sick and after allegory testing, it was learned that soy was the culprit of his sickness. Without soy, a vegan diet was impossible to maintain adequate protein levels. I have no idea what Bryan ate in the diner segment on WWE Raw but wouldn't read too much into it.

What is the stance of homosexual wrestlers in WWE?

I do not know of any openly gay wrestlers in WWE and the only worker I can think of off the top of my head is Orlando Jordan, who is bisexual. WWE, like the pro sports leagues, is still evolving in terms of acceptance and breaking down barriers of discrimination. Racism used to be a big part of the pro wrestling business but the wall has been significantly broken although I'm sure many African Americans would claim it still exists and I wouldn't question this because I am in no position (as a white male) to judge whether it is or isn't there. However, there are many in WWE, including WWE Champion CM Punk, who is a very loud advocate of equal rights for homosexuals. I also want to go on record as to saying that I feel an individual should be evaluated by their work alone and not factors that do not effect their ability to work (such as race, sexual orientation, gender, etc.).

Not that it really matters, but Chris Kanyon was gay as well, if I remember.

Billy, Chuck, and Rico weren't though.

  • Daarko

Pat Patterson, though not quite a top star anymore, is openly gay. And he is a big personality in the business. But if you think about it, wrestlers have claimed to be in it for the fame, money and women (Scott Hall in ESPN documentary).. They also do tend to be a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle more vulnerable, so maybe pro wrestling isn't the business for a gay man.. Not judging!

    • Richard Gray

The connotations surrounding this don't set well with me. Because someone is gay they aren't tough enough for this business? I'd say the opposite given the unjust and unfair discrimination that they are forced to deal with on a day-to-day basis; they are likely tougher and more equipped to survive in this business.

      • fan

        Completely agree.

"Not judging!" yet states "they also do tend to be a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle more vulnerable." Stating that gay men are more vulnerable or not tough, without any facts is considered an opinion. An opinion that is judging the strength of gay mens' characters. Equivalent to: "Daarko you are an imbecile! No offense."

      • Bestinbiz

Wasn’t CM Punk the one who made homophobic comments and wwe had to apologize (TMZ covered the story) and then all of a sudden CM Punk became a fan of Homosexual. #peoplehavesmallmemory

        • XKonn247

Redo your hash tag. Punk defended gay marriage on Twitter then told a homophobe to “drink bleach”. #shortmemorymyass

    • Jenny C

Are you on the "412" daarko? Just asking.

  • Matt

    Pat Patterson

  • Ricky Valdez

Daniel freaking Bryan, you gotta love this guy. I’m the tag team champions, lmao.

    • KAINE

I m the tag team champions!

      • Goat Face

        • James

          NO, This is Patrick!

      • Sovikos

        It’s KANE

  • The only LGBT wrestlers I knew was Kanyon, Orlando Jordan, Pat Patterson and a guy named Cassandro El Exotico.

    • Dave Barton

Simon Sermon, and Rik Ratchett as well.

      • Sovikos

Never heard of these guys. Are they jobbers or older wrestlers?

        • Dave Barton

Simon Sermon was the first openly gay wrestler, in gimmick & real life…he just wasn't a "name" like Kanyon, so no one really noticed. Ratchet was an indy worker who was gay in real life, but suggested it in gimmick by having his real-life boyfriend "Pool Boy Felipe" as his valet. Both wrestled in the 2000's.

  • Mike Brailsford

Pat Patterson was always open about his sexuality.

  • Remi

I really think Cody Rhodes is gay. lol also the guy has had many boners while in ring, google it. Or go to youtube, i think someone even made a video about it.

    • Richard Gray

Cody used to date Beth and I believe is still with Eden Stiles. We need to get over stuff such as "I think so-and-so is gay, haha." Rude, immature and intolerant.

      • Chris H

He dated a girl and is with another, so he can't be gay? Really? Elton John was married to a woman for three years.

      • Remi

This is the FIRST time i ever brought it up. i always thought to myself. But on the bright side i got a reply from you lmao P.S im not against gay people.

    • Andrew Ace

Cody Rhodes isn’t gay, he just stole my girlfriend last week

    • Joey

Even if he is (which I doubt) what does it matter? He's a great performer and his personal life should be just that, personal.

  • Richard Gray

Many are pointing out Kanyon and Patterson and the reason I didn't mention either is Kanyon is deceased and Pat no longer works. When I mentioned Orlando, I was mentioning the only openly-gay worker currently.

    • havoc525

Patterson was also the guy The Rock went to for tips on his character in Be Cool, although he wouldn’t say who at the time of filming. Not sure how open Pat “has always been,” per someone earlier suggesting it.

    • fan

      Thumbs down to an explanation?

I remember when the IWC prided themselves on being informed. Doesn't seem that is the case nowadays. Collectively it seems the IWC has slowly moved towards a "we want the product to be…" attitude, instead of "we want to know why the product is…" Please Richard, keep the hard work up and keep the information coming.

    • Kevin

This is the first I'm hearing about Pat Patterson being openly gay. I'm not against it; I have a gay son who, at 6'3" and 300 lbs, would be a pretty damn good addition to the WWE roster. I've just never heard that about Pat before.

  • John

I am a Paul Heyman guy.

  • raider488

I believe there was an openly gay man in wwe like i guess five years ago. He was assigned to a tag team you might remember called the dicks. He was scripted to throw water on tag partner and make ejeculation jokes every skit. Also you failed to mention how vince allowed jr to make gay jokes at pat patterson’s expense on commentary. For example when patterson was part of the corporate stooges and walked out behind vince and brisco jr would go patterson bringing up the rear. Forgive the typos and gramatical errors because this is actually a very upsetting topic for me.

    • GODSENT83

That’s not a gay comment, he says that all the time

    • Johnny Lane

So when you're upset, you write like shit?

    • XKonn247

It’s unfortunate but homophobia, like racism and sexism, isn’t going away. Discrimination is a disgusting part of human psychology but it’s not gonna stop because its “very upsetting” to people. It can’t be about trying to defeat it anymore, more about your individual effort to rise above it and be a better person fur surviving such horrible and unreasonable abuse.

  • dex

thank you for being open and tolerant and setting the standard of excellence, richard. it's very unfortunate to see the negative votes about it.

  • MasterMind

I'm still waiting for a black WWE champion and I'm not talking about The Rock.

    • Brandon

      Mark Henry was champ.

    • ohyoudidntknow

      the rock is samoan

      • ChrisH

Half African American, not just Samoan.

        • Goat Face

I still remember when anti-WWE protesters back in the day thought Dwayne was a white supremacist type, until others pointed that out. Classic ooops moment.

    • XKonn247

      Booker T?

  • ldb

Let me point out ryback still got good crowd reaction even after the shocking shellshocked. Especially when in with punk later. The feed me more chants were insane loud. I had flashbacks to hercules vs sid vicious

    • Dave Barton

Herc vs Sid…why don't I remember that matchup? Was it a feud? I need details!

  • Hitman310

At the end of the day who cares if there is or isn’t any gay male or female wrestlers. They still go in there and perform and entertain everyone.

  • William

Ryback did his move on Tensai last Friday on Smackdown! Ryback also called Tensai stupid last night after the debacle so Tensai had to have messed it up!

  • Ralphus

For the person that said you will never see an African American champion. Ummmmmmm………Booker T!

    • christianrocker90

He did say WWE Champion, not World Heavyweight Champion, so…yeah.

    • hurrigame

Yes, but how about an African American WWE Champion for a change. Besides The Rock.

      • Brody

Booker T was WHC while employed by the WWE.

By the way, which African-American wrestler would YOU put the strap on?

I’ll bet you can’t name one current wrestler that is deserving of the title.

    • Jitters84

      Ron Simmons in WCW.

      • William

MVP if he comes back to the WWE!!!

  • DoJo

I thought Sylvan was gay & had a relationship with PP??? Could be wrong though!!!!!! I could not give a hell if someone is gay or not……… And I think the one’s who detest – detest a bit TOO much LoL If a worker can work – let them work!!!!!! As with Ryback I really don’t get why the heat was with Tensai………. You could see he was trying to assist & was not ‘planking’ a la bob holly!!!! I feel that because Ryback could not deliver it & was due for a BIG push they put it on poor Matt Bloom ;( I have been saying for ages Ryback needs a new finisher – something with impact as opposed to a lift………….

You are who you are as we are not god and imo we should let the lord almighty do the seperation.. Not us!

I am bisexual and i am happy being who i am!

  • Synyster

Who cares if there are gay wrestlers that’s their personal deal. I’m a big CM Punk fan and if he was gay I’d still be a fan just like any other superstar.

  • Nick

Why is everyone obsessed with the gay wrestler question??? Lets get to the one that really matters, Albert that hack making Ryback look bad by sandbagging the hell outta Ryback. I don’t know know What Albert was thinking but it looked to me like he was trying to do one of two things, get fired or make Ryback look bad.

  • Austin

It's weird that the move was botched considering Ryback did it perfectly on Smackdown.

    • Nick

It wasn’t botched, Ryback has been doing that move for months, he even picked up two guys at once. The thing is, it takes two to tangle and if only one of them is dancing there’s not gonna be anything happening.
      Damn that Albert!

      • Johnny Lane

        It's tango, not tangle–dumbass

  • Thanks Richard, the stance on homosexual wrestlers was my question! 🙂

  • Miles

Ryback to be in the tag team equation by himself so that he is the tag team champs. He is going to be huge on day

  • Kris

The second question is stupid … last smackdown (I think) Ryback did his finisher to Tensai.. so obviously this week's botch was Tensai's !

    • BigMike

Tensai Sandbagged him on purpose now he has heat

  • Jitters84

Gay or not.. If the guy can work.. And has the “IT”.. I personally couldn’t care aless.

  • Filip

I heard dragon gate USA AR fox was openly gay

  • _JIM_

Tensai should have been helping Ryback get him up into that finisher, but it looked like he was just waiting for Ryback to do all the work and get him up without help. It was like trying to lift dead weight for Ryback. Dead weight seems to be an appropriate thing to compare Tensai with at this point. He is just lucky that Ryback didn’t injure himself trying to pull that finish off. He would’ve been future endeavored before he even got back to the locker room.

  • Bestinbiz

Wasn’t CM Punk the one who made homophobic comments and wwe had to apologize (TMZ covered the story) and then all of a sudden CM Punk became a fan of Homosexual. #peoplehavesmallmemory

  • DoJo

Hey I feel the whole blame on Tensai is wrong………. Look closely and you can see he IS trying work with Ryback, I really think it was just one of those things……….. If he really wanted to screw Ryback he would not have sold the clothesline like he did!!!!

  • pgarrie

is it just me or does anyone else think Orlando Jordan looks like a older version of Darren Young? When he has long straight up hair such as Darren during Nexus they look like siblings.. or family of some kind.

  • Hollywood

Actually, Ryback was able to get Tensuck up on smackdown this past friday and suprising didn’t look that difficult for him. I think its time Vinny-Mac cuts the strings on Tensai

  • BigMike

Orlando could have been alot better had some stupid gimmicks not happened I do not care if he was Gay he had a good look when he first came out he had a motor and he was learning.Canyon was just one of the best around bottom line.and Pat patterson i know he is openly gay but has he always been when he became the first ever IC champ was it known then? if not would it have nattered back then I think it would have and that is a shame but ANYWAY ……………3 good wrestlers IMO Jordan patterson and especially Kanyon
