Destination Impact - What To Expect On Tonight's Live Show

Today is the day! January 7th... The day Impact Wrestling returns to TV with a live episode on their new home of Destination America! After tonight, Impact will air on Friday nights (in case you didn't get the memo). There are lots of things going on right now with TNA Wrestling and I'm here to "advertise" and gather up all of the the highlights and share my two cents on the re-boot of Impact on Destination America.

Josh Mathews Debuts On Commentary

TNA announced on December 18th that former WWE announcer Josh Mathews will be joining the Impact Wrestling announce team to call the action alongside Taz. Mike Tenay, who Mathews is replacing, will be working in other areas and hosting Impact Wrestling: Unlocked. Mathews has spent more than ten years an on-air wrestling personality so this is nothing new for him. Some fans have complained about the announce team on Impact, so could this lead to less complaints? I personally like Mathews and I can't wait to see him call the action once again.

Kurt Angle Set To Make A "Major Announcement"

TNA announced on Monday night that Directer of Wrestling Operations Kurt Angle will be making a major announcement tonight on Impact. Angle was the first name announced to have re-signed with the company. There is lots of speculation as to whether this announcement will be about his potential return to the ring as Angle has been out of action since having ACL surgery in May. We've seen subtle teases at a possible match between Angle and Lashley... Is it coming sooner than we expect? Tune in to find out!

Who's Gone and Who's Staying?

In case you've been out of the loop, you'll need to know who has left TNA and who you will be seeing over the next few weeks on Impact. Bully Ray and Devon, known collectively as Team 3D, are under the Alumni section on TNA's Roster, so it appears we won't see the TNA Hall of Famers mixing it up with The Wolves and The Hardys again for the time being. Brittany won't be seen around Samuel Shaw as she has apparently left the company as well. Rob Terry, who acted as The Freak in The Menagerie, and Shark Boy are also Alumni now. As I noted earlier, Kurt Angle was the first TNA star to re-sign. The list continued to grow and here's the list so far: Abyss, Ethan Carter III, Madison Rayne, Jessie Godderz, Mr. Anderson, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Eric Young.

The Champions

In the final weeks before Impact left Spike TV, all of the championships changed hands, so you may not remember who's champ! Bobby Roode is the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, and I'll get into his story here in a bit. Low Ki is the X-Division Champion. Low Ki won it on November 19th in a four-way match after Samoa Joe announced he was injured and had to surrender the title. James Storm and Abyss of The Revolution won the Tag Team Championships on November 12th when Storm cashed in his Feast of Fired Briefcase on The Wolves to win the titles. Taryn Terrell is the current Knockout's Champion. Taryn beat the unstoppable Havok and the highly talented Gail Kim in a three-way match to win her first Knockout's Championship on the November 19th episode of Impact.

The Main Event: Roode vs. Lashley III

Bobby Roode will defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Lashley in the main event of Impact's re-boot episode. This will the third encounter in their series. In their first match, Lashley retained the World Title over Roode in what was considered a Match of the Year candidate. Another match was set up and the world was shocked when Roode managed to pin The Destroyer Lashley and capture the World Title for the second time. Lashley will receive his rematch and everything is on the line in this must-see main event. Anything can happen, because the show is live! Will we see MVP or Kenny King interfere? Will we see someone debut or return in TNA? You'll have to see!

Watch's Hype Video for Roode vs. Lashley III:
