Can we expect a unification of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and WWE United States Championship with the winner of John Cena vs. Seth Rollins “taking all?”
I don’t expect the United States Championship to be unified with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship because that would basically just be eliminating the secondary title. One of the reasons John Cena was booked to win the US Championship from Rusev at Wrestlemania 31 was to help restore the prestige to the title. I don’t know how much his reign has accomplished that but I believe his program with Kevin Owens was one of the best of the summer. It’ll be interesting to see how WWE books Rollins vs. Cena, as I believe a lot of fans are going to be ticked off if Cena goes over. Seth Rollins is currently favored to win the bout but that doesn’t mean much.
Do you see it at all possible that Brock Lesnar is scheduled to demolish The Undertaker at Summerslam?
Much has been written about Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker and its outcome but I don’t see a scenario where Brock demolishes Undertaker. This is a complex booking situation and I would actually prefer to see the match end in interference. I’ll pitch one finish and you can tell me what you think. How about Undertaker is close to avenging his loss from Wrestlemania 30 and Sting comes out and costs him the bout, setting up Sting vs. Undertaker for Wrestlemania 32? It’s something Vince McMahon and Hunter have gone back and forth on but I think that’s a big money bout that would help fill AT&T Stadium at the show next year. Brock doesn’t need a clear and decisive win over Undertaker, he already has the streak. Undertaker doesn’t need a clear and decisive win over Lesnar, he’s one of the most legendary Superstars in WWE history. I’m not normally for dirty finishes but I believe one is in order here.
With Sting being in town for SummerSlam, although not advertised, do you feel he will make an appearance to build to a possible match against Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32?
I intentionally placed this question under the last one because I believe that would be good usage of Sting. He’s going to be in town and while the pay-per-view itself doesn’t need him, it could be used to solve the booking quandary of Undertaker vs. Lesnar and it could set up a dream match for Wrestlemania 32. That’s very plausible and something I could see happening. Sting was rumored for SummerSlam earlier in the month, but there was talk of using him in the Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper match. The last I heard, that plan was off.
Rumors have been going around online that Dean Ambrose will turn on Roman Reigns at SummerSlam and be revealed as the newest member of the Wyatt Family. Do you think this is why Reigns has been reenforcing the notion that him and Ambrose are brothers recently, and do you think this would be a good move by WWE?
I’ve been very suspicious about the rhetoric used by both Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the build to their SummerSlam match against Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. The entire line has been they’re brothers — family — and they have each other’s backs no matter what. It’s a perfect setup for either Ambrose or Reigns to turn, with Ambrose being more likely. However, sometimes the most obvious scenarios are the ones that are avoided. I believe WWE at least wants fans to be skeptical of a turn but I can’t tell you it will definitely happen or not as of right now. As for my thoughts, I am for anything that further builds both Reigns and Ambrose. They’re both super talented but WWE has failed to utilize both to their full potential. The same can be said for Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. After the Wyatt Family broke up, it was nowhere but down for both. These guys are too talented to be irrelevant mid carders. Let’s hope whatever happens, continues to progress all of them forward.
