Lashley Fighting Tonight, UFC Release, Roderick Strong Thriving In WWE NXT

- Bobby Lashley will fight Josh Appelt in the co-main event of Bellator 162 tonight from the FedExForum in Memphis, TN. Lashley (14-2) hasn’t lost since May 2012 and is riding a seven-fight win streak. Appelt (12-5) last fought for Bellator in April 2014 at Bellator 115, where he lost to Freddie Aquitania via unanimous decision. This show will be headlined by Alexander Shlemenko (53-9-1) vs. Kendall Grove (23-15-1). The prelims start at 7 PM ET online at this link with the main card airing live on Spike TV beginning at 9 PM ET.

- Antonio Silva has been released from the UFC, multiple sources have confirmed. Silva had suffered three consecutive losses, all by knockout, in his last three fights. His last came to Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night: Cyborg vs. Lansberg back in September. His record sits at 19–10-1. Silva has express interest, through his manager, in fighting in Russia.

- Former NFL offensive tackle Brennan Williams debuted for WWE NXT at last night’s live event in Lakeland, Florida. He lost to Lince Dorado, here are photos.

- The WWE Network had an outage today after a denial-of-service attack that brought down a number of large website such as Spotify, Twitter, Soundcloud and Netflix. It’s a big deal as the US Department of Defense is investigating.

- Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella have revealed they are having a baby girl in the spring of 2017.

- WWEconfirmed on Friday that Jean Gagné, better to known to fans as Frenchy Martin, has died. He was 66. Martin is best remembered as the manager of Dino Bravo in the 1980s.

- Abdul-Kerim Edilov has accepted a 15-month suspension retroactive to January 7, 2016 after testing positive for meldonium in an out-of-competition drug test that he took at the beginning of the year, the USADA has announced. Edilov (16-4) was scheduled to debut with the UFC in January in a fight against Francimar Barroso but had to pull out due to injury (torn meniscus). Edilov has won 10 straight fights in Russia. He’ll be eligible to fight for the UFC in April 2017.
