WWE NXT Diva Nhooph Al-Areebi, who works under the name Jasmin, is the latest performer under a WWE developmental contract to be mired in a racist controversy. Just a week after WWE terminated Zahra Schreiber for posting inappropriate and offensive remarks on social media, Twitter users dug up inappropriate and offensive remarks Al-Areebi allegedly made in 2011 and 2012. You can view screen captures at this link.
The reason we started to pay attention to the story is because Al-Areebi deactivated her Twitter account. Then, there’s this post from her Instagram account where she remarks, “And @prestonmyles is so black you can't see him.”
Both accounts have been verified through links on WWE.com, where she was profiled in a feature interview back in June. That piece, linking to the accounts mentioned in this report, is available at this link.
Given that WWE immediately terminated Zahra Schreiber, who is also the real-life girlfriend of Seth Rollins, and immediately distanced from Hulk Hogan following his dated racist remarks, this certainly doesn't look good for Al-Areebi. WWE is going to have to start vetting the social media of prospects much more carefully to prevent this from becoming a recurring problem.
