Billy Corgan & Dixie Carter

- TNA Wrestling grabbed yesterday’s top story when it was announced that Billy Corgan has been promoted as the company’s new President with Dixie Carter moving to Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer. The press release confirmed Panda Energy is no longer a part of TNA as they are now owned by a company called IMPACT Ventures. Corgan recently purchased a minority stake in TNA and it’s unknown if his promotion was part of that investment. Even with such a big announcement, it only drew 151 re-tweets on the verified Twitter account of Dixie Carter and wasn’t addressed on Corgan’s account. Interest in TNA is still at an all-time low and we’ll only continue to cover the big moments.

- Shelton Benjamin is expected to be out six months to a year following surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff. We’ve already been asked if this means he won’t be brought to WWE and that’s exactly what it means for now. When Shelton gets healthy and if WWE needs another past talent, it’s not inconceivable that they’ll look his way again as both Vince McMahon and Triple H are fans of his work. It’s just a really bad break for Shelton as he had pain but didn’t know of the injury until his WWE physical.

- Tye Dillinger is over like rover amongst WWE wrestlers and is seen as one of the most talented workers down in NXT right now.

- Braun Strowman was “heartbroken” about being split from Bray Wyatt in the 2016 WWE Draft. Wyatt and Strowman are very good friends, traveled together and worked out together.

- WWE has announced that John Cena will return to Smackdown Live on next week’s go-home to SummerSlam episode. He’ll face Alberto Del Rio. The company also announced The Miz will host WWE Champion Dean Ambrose and challenger Dolph Ziggler in the Miz TV segment.

- Chad Dukes asked Luke Harper about being snubbed in WWE’s 10 ‘hottest free agents’ piece. Here’s what he said: "Listen, I don't want to talk about Heath Slater, he's been beaten down by Rhyno and Jinder Mahal. So I don't want to talk about that, but Cryme Tyme couldn't be more irrelevant to today's wrestling scene. So for them to rank above me, it's a bit of a slap in the face… I believe that I will be the WWE World Champion one day. I know that a lot of people say that, it's easy to say, if I were to go away without accomplishing that task I would feel unfulfilled, to be completely honest... So for Cryme Tyme to rank above me, when I think that of myself, it becomes a bit of an issue inside my own brain.” That interview is available at this link.

- Conor McGregor continues to grab headlines for his verbal assault on the new era of WWE talent but his latest comments — aimed at John Cena — have us suspecting that McGregor is working. I haven’t heard about him appearing for WWE but there were a lot of rumors about a UFC talent appearing for WWE after they allowed Brock Lesnar to fight at UFC 200. Ronda Rousey is a name WWE has wanted to work with but she’s currently busy trying to recover from her shocking loss to Holly Holm.

- Speaking of Conor McGregor, he’ll return to featherweight after his rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 to defend the UFC Featherweight Championship, regardless of the result against Diaz. “I fully expect Conor to come back and defend his 145-pound title,” White told UFC.com.

- As for the UFC Welterweight Championship, it will be Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson that gets a shot at Tyron Woodley and not Nick Diaz or Georges St-Pierre. White confirmed, “I think that Nate feels his brother should have the fight at 170, but Nick is not going to come back and fight for the title right away. There are other guys deserving of a title shot. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson is going to fight for the 170-pound title and then we’ll see what happens with Nick and Nate.”

- Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne will co-headline UFC 203 after Ben Rothwell, who was scheduled to fight Browne, was pulled due to a knee injury. UFC 203 will now feature the following fights: Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem, Travis Browne vs. Fabricio Werdum, Nik Lentz vs. Mairbek Taisumov, Damir Hadzovic vs. Yukawa Kazuya, Mickey Gall vs. CM Punk, Bethe Correia vs. Jessica Eye, Urijah Faber vs. Jimmie Rivera, Jessica Andrade vs. Joanne Calderwood, Ray Borg vs. Ian McCall, Caio Magalhaes vs. Brad Tavares and Drew Dober vs. Jason Gonzalez. UFC 203 will take place on September 10, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. We’ll have complete coverage.
