TNA's Knockouts Division

Unfortunately women’s wrestling doesn’t get quite enough of respect. I don’t think it really matters if it’s the WWE, TNA, Ring of Honor, or independent promotions. Across the land women’s wrestling is treated and viewed the same. A woman has to go through the same process to make it in the business. There are just a few minor differences. Appearance is very critical in the women’s avenue and in general it is less hardcore. Most of them have a Barbie doll like body. There are women though that are “Standards” for the women’s division such as Trish Stratus, Lita, and the Fabulous Moolah. I prefer TNA’s women’s division over the WWE.

Currently Taryn Terrell is TNA’s Knockouts Champion. She is not one of my personal favorites but has proven to be the fighting champion. I personally like Havok and Awesome Kong because I think it takes more creativity to generate these characters. On top of that they aren’t generally the eye candy that most appeal to. I am not writing this article to be a judge in a beauty pageant but Havok and Awesome Kong bring a different style of wrestling to the ring. This is one thing that I think TNA does a better job than the WWE. I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate Madison Rayne, Angelina Love, Gail Kim, Mickie James, or Brooke. Just in general the style of wrestling is the same with all of them. Awesome Kong’s presence in the ring is a reflection of dominance and power. Havok reminds me of Lita with her style of wrestling but her character is more mysterious. In my eyes Havok and Awesome Kong appear to add some spice to the Knockouts division because of how different their styles are.

This is a division though; I believe that needs to add more blood. Again, I appreciate all of the women in this division but most of them are veterans and we have seen the same thing over the years. Some of the women’s division are former WWE wrestlers such as Mickie James and Brooke. Tara was once in TNA.
Overall TNA’s product especially in this division is good but need a little more depth to create more interesting rivalries. The veteran’s though in this division have laid down the foundation and some of them may be future TNA Hall of Famers such as Gail Kim. Gail Kim’s longevity and accomplishments may put her there. She has had a taste of the WWE and it was short lived. Gail Kim will be remembered as a TNA wrestler not a WWE wrestler. To me what separates this division is Havok and Awesome Kong. I prefer this division over WWE.
