WWE SummerSlam 2015 will not take place from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey due to the venue’s closure by the end of the month. Local officials are working to get the show moved to the Prudential Center in Newark.

Far more difficult to resolve will be the Izod Center’s hosting of the WWE’s SummerSlam 2015 in August—a major and lucrative wrestling event that came to the Meadowlands in the wake of the very successful WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium in 2013. Jim Kirkos, CEO of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce told the authority that the nearby Meadowlands Hilton has 1,000 rooms blocked off for the event, and might lose $250,000 in business.
“That was a big one,” conceded Hasenbalg of SummerSlam. “It’s their second-biggest event of the year and I’m working on that to try and get it to Pru.”
World Wrestling Entertainment, in response to the closing of the Izod Center, said in a statement: “WWE is currently looking at alternatives, and we are confident that we will come up with an equivalent, if not better, option.”
