WWE SummerSlam 2015 Statistics - Part 2

  • Author:
  • Updated:

As revealed last week, I'm replacing The Five-Count with a special look at SummerSlam statistics this weekend before the big show. I published Part 1 last weekend, which you can read HERE. This second half will feature The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar and much more.

Singles Match

  • W/L Record: (1-1)
  • Years competed: 2012, 2014
  • Results: Cesaro def. United States Champion Santino Marella; Rob Van Dam def. Cesaro

It's worth noting that both of Cesaro's SummerSlam matches took place on the kickoff show. As for his opponent, Kevin Owens has yet to make his SummerSlam debut. We are sure to see a physical match between these two powerhouses.

Family vs. Family Tag Team Match

Former Shield brothers Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose will reunite once again to take on Wyatt Family members Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper in what is being billed as a Family vs. Family bout. Everyone involved has appeared at SummerSlam before, but not all have competed in a match.

Dean Ambrose

  • W/L Record: (0-2)
  • Years competed: 2013, 2014
  • Results: Rob Van Dam def. United States Champion Dean Ambrose by DQ; Seth Rollins def. Dean Ambrose in a Lumberjack Match

Roman Reigns

  • W/L Record: (1-0)
  • Years competed: 2014
  • Result: Roman Reigns def. Randy Orton

It's safe to say Dean Ambrose hasn't had as much luck as Roman Reigns when it comes to winning at SummerSlam. Reigns is undefeated with a key victory over Randy Orton last year.

Bray Wyatt

  • W/L Record: (2-0)
  • Years competed: 2013, 2014
  • Results: Bray Wyatt def. Kane in a Ring of Fire Match; Bray Wyatt def. Chris Jericho

Wyatt's tag team partner, Luke Harper, has appeared at the 2013 and 2014 editions of SummerSlam, but has not competed in an actual match. Wyatt is also undefeated at the big PPV with two key wins over Kane and Chris Jericho. The Wyatt Family looks to have a slight advantage here.

Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Championship Match

WWE Tag Team Champions Titus O'Neil and Darren Young look to have their hands full as they are set to defend their titles against three other teams. Two of those teams are former WWE Tag Team Champions, while the other team are former NXT Tag Team Champions.

Titus O'Neil

  • W/L Record: (0-1)
  • Years competed: 2012
  • Result: WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth def. The Prime Time Players

Darren Young

  • W/L Record: (0-2)
  • Years competed: 2010, 2012
  • Results: Team WWE def. The Nexus; Kofi Kingston & R-Truth def. The Prime Time Players

The Prime Time Players haven't had the best of luck at SummerSlam. Granted, they haven't had much of an opportunity to shine, but they have yet to pick up a win at the PPV. Will the losing trend continue of Sunday?

Kofi Kingston

  • W/L Record: (2-1-1)
  • Years competed: 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012
  • Results:
  • Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix def. Kofi Kingston & Mickie James (Intergender Winner Takes All Match)
  • Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston - no contest
  • Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio & John Morrison def. The Miz, R-Truth & Alberto Del Rio
  • WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth def. The Prime Time Players

Big E

  • W/L Record: (0-1)
  • Years competed: 2013
  • Result: Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn def. Big E & AJ Lee

Kofi Kingston is certainly the most experienced competitor in this entire match having had four SummerSlam matches. Big E's first was at 2013 in a mixed tag team match, which he was on the losing end of. Xavier Woods, Diego, Fernando, Sin Cara, and Kalisto all have yet to compete in their first SummerSlam match.

Singles Match

Dolph Ziggler and Rusev are set to finally face each other on PPV since their feud began in late May. Since Lana left Rusev for Ziggler, Summer Rae has stepped in to be Rusev's new woman. Both competitors have some experience at SummerSlam:

Dolph Ziggler

  • W/L Record: (2-2-1)
  • Years competed: 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014
  • Results:
  • Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio def. Dolph Ziggler
  • Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston - no contest
  • Chris Jericho def. Dolph Ziggler
  • Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn def. Big E & AJ Lee
  • Dolph Ziggler def. Intercontinental Champion The Miz

Dolph Ziggler has had his good and bad days at the biggest show of the summer. You can see Ziggler has also spent a lot of time in the Intercontinental Title picture at the PPV. The Show Off has competed in more matches than his opponent, but isn't undefeated.

  • W/L Record: (1-0)
  • Years competed: 2014
  • Result: Rusev def. Jack Swagger in a Flag Match

While the Flag Match stipulation really wasn't that big of a factor in the match, Rusev picked up his first SummerSlam victory over Jack Swagger last year. How will Rusev fare this year?

Singles Match

Mr. Money in the Bank Sheamus and Randy Orton are currently involved in a rivalry. There isn't a real reason why we are seeing this feud continue besides the fact that neither have anything else going on. The biggest thing to note is that Orton and Sheamus have faced each other at SummerSlam before.

  • W/L Record: (1-2)
  • Years competed: 2010, 2011, 2012
  • Results:
  • Randy Orton def. WWE Champion Sheamus by DQ
  • Mark Henry def. Sheamus by count-out
  • World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus def. Alberto Del Rio

As I typed all of Sheamus' matches out, I realized that every one of them involved a screwy finish. Yes, that includes his 2012 World Title defense against Del Rio. Sheamus used Ricardo's shoe to his advantage despite being a babyface.

Randy Orton

  • W/L Record: (6-4)
  • Results:
  • World Heavyweight Champion Triple H def. Randy Orton, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho in an Elimination Chamber match (2003)
  • Randy Orton def. World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit (2004)
  • Randy Orton def. The Undertaker (2005)
  • Hulk Hogan def. Randy Orton (2006)
  • WWE Champion John Cena def. Randy Orton (2007)
  • WWE Champion Randy Orton def. John Cena (2009)
  • Randy Orton def. WWE Champion Sheamus by DQ (2010)
  • Randy Orton def. World Heavyweight Champion Christian in a No Holds Barred Match (2011)
  • Randy Orton def. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan - MITB Cash-in (2013)
  • Roman Reigns def. Randy Orton (2014)

If you think Orton has had a lot of SummerSlam matches, just wait until I get to The Undertaker. Orton has had so many career-defining moments at SummerSlam. As I mentioned earlier, Orton has faced Sheamus at SummerSlam before. Experience wise, Orton has the advantage here.

The Biggest Fight of the Summer

The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar look to wage war in the main event of this year's SummerSlam. While they've never faced each other at this particular PPV, Taker and Lesnar have had plenty of matches together, with their latest taking place at WrestleMania 30. Here's the breakdown for the biggest fight of the summer:

Brock Lesnar

  • W/L Record: (4-1)
  • Years competed: 2002, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2014
  • Results:
  • Brock Lesnar def. WWE Champion The Rock
  • WWE Champion Kurt Angle def. Brock Lesnar
  • Brock Lesnar def. Triple H
  • Brock Lesnar def. CM Punk
  • Brock Lesnar def. WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena

Since returning in 2012, Brock Lesnar has dominated at SummerSlam. Like Randy Orton, Lesnar has had a handful of career-defining moments at this particular PPV. Will this be enough to keep Lesnar's momentum going as he faces The Deadman this year?

The Undertaker

  • W/L Record: (8-5-1)
  • Results:
  • The Undertaker def. Kamala by DQ (1992)
  • The Undertaker def. Giant Gonzalez (1993)
  • The Undertaker def. Evil Undertaker (1994)
  • The Undertaker def. Kama in a Casket Match (1995)
  • Mankind def. The Undertaker in a Boiler Room Brawl (1996)
  • Bret Hart def. WWE Champion The Undertaker (1997)
  • WWE Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin def. The Undertaker (1998)
  • The Undertaker vs. Kane - no contest (2000)
  • WWE Tag Team Champions The Undertaker & Kane def. WCW Tag Team Champions Diamond Dallas Page & Chris Kanyon in a steel cage match(2001)
  • The Undertaker def. Test (2002)
  • The Undertaker def. Albert (2003)
  • WWE Champion JBL def. The Undertaker by DQ (2004)
  • Randy Orton def. The Undertaker (2005)
  • The Undertaker def. Edge in a Hell in a Cell Match (2008)

What a list! The Undertaker has done so much at SummerSlam. He's pretty much faced everybody and anybody in his career. So what will happen at this year's SummerSlam? Will Undertaker avenge his loss? Will Brock Lesnar prove to be the one man that Undertaker just can't beat?

That's a wrap on this two-part SummerSlam stats special! Did you like what you read? Are you excited for SummerSlam? I would love to hear from you below in the comments area.
