While it wasn't a complete shock when it was revealed that Global Force Wrestling had stripped Alberto El Patron of the GFW Unified World Heavyweight Championship, a behind the scenes battle continues between GFW management and El Patron's representatives.
Despite El Patron being cleared of legal wrong doing, Anthem Executive Vice President Ed Nordholm was so embarrassed by the witness accounts involving accusations of cocaine possession that the decision was made that El Patron couldn't continue as champion. But the story doesn't end with stripping El Patron because Anthem's attorneys are currently exploring whether they can terminate the relationship with El Patron entirely.
So not only is El Patron's attorney fighting for him to be reinstated as soon as possible, he's also trying to smooth things over to avoid El Patron being fired as Anthem believes El Patron may have violated the morality clause in his contract.
Patron is one of the highest paid wrestlers on the roster, by a large margin, and with Nordholm fearing that Patron is a ticking time bomb and a liability, Anthem is very tempted by the money they would save if they cut ties entirely.
