Another issue in WWE right now is figuring out the main roster plans for Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura is slated to be called up shortly after WrestleMania and there has been a bit of a tug of war internally. Vince McMahon is high on Nakamura and wants him on Raw. He feels if the company has big plans for someone being called up, they need to be established on the top brand and can always be drafted to Smackdown later on. On the other hand, Triple H really wants Nakamura on Smackdown. There have been a couple tense discussions about Nakamura between Vince and Triple H about Nakamura with other writers present.
Smackdown is the brand Triple H has more control over and he has more faith in himself to protect Nakamura than Vince might be inclined to on Raw if Nakamura doesn't click right off the bat for whatever reason. Triple H pushed hard for Samoa Joe to debut on Smackdown for this very reason, but Vince won out and the plan was changed to Joe being on Raw. Having missed out on Joe, Triple H is lobbying harder for Smackdown to get Nakamura.
Triple H also knows Vince wants to switch AJ Styles in the next draft and without knowing who Smackdown would be getting to fill that spot, and with Triple H trying to position Smackdown as the more in ring quality show, he views Nakamura as a safety net to maintain that credibility for the brand.
