We’re told TNA Wrestling had “no idea” that Ring of Honor’s deal with Destination America was coming. ROH and DA agreed to the deal on Wednesday and the network wanted ROH on the air as soon as possible. This is why the deal was announced and they’re starting a week later.
TNA was in fact completely “blindsided.”
As for TNA’s future on Destination America, they’re still hopeful they’ll remain on the network but they have no leverage. TNA has found it very difficult to get a US TV distribution deal and some believe the word is out in the television industry not to work with Dixie Carter.
Rockstar Spud was scheduled to do media on Wednesday but TNA canceled his appearances at the last minute. We’re told it was “absolute scramble” in TNA in general after Destination America made it official that ROH was coming to the network.
On the ROH side, very few had any idea the announcement was coming. Talks had been kept very quiet, similar to when ROH was talking to Spike TV, which is why most in ROH insisted in wasn’t true (when it was). That was the same situation with the talks with Destination America.
