We’re told WWE is “on the fence” about signing Bubba Ray Dudley to return full-time. Company officials were impressed with how over he was and how good he looked in the Royal Rumble match.
I’m told to consider underlying past issues with Triple H, so he could be “humbled” in the signing process. Even though Dudley has been in WWE before and has worked some huge matches for them, he might have to wait until April like everyone else in terms of getting a full time offer.
Bubba’s girlfriend, Velvet Sky, is also hoping for a WWE offer and sources indicate they would like to both receive full-time Performer’s Contracts. WWE officials are reportedly high up on Velvet’s look but are a bit timid over her age (she’s 33/going on 34 in June).
Bubba has saved his money and isn’t relying on getting an offer from WWE. In fact, if Velvet ends up getting a new deal from TNA Wrestling, he could very well end up rejoining her there. From Dudley’s perspective, getting the Rumble spot gave him a lot of attention on the big stage and makes him more marketable on the indies, in Japan or even back with TNA if he doesn’t sign with WWE.
