Finn Balor

- Vince McMahon wanted Dean Ambrose to pin Roman Reigns at WWE Battleground but the plan until late Monday still had Reigns facing Seth Rollins for the new WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. It’s unknown what made Vince change his mind but we’re told he called an audible for Finn Balor to be the one to face Rollins. We’ve talked recently about Vince wanting to give someone other than Reigns the chance to be a top face and Finn Balor appears to be that person. WWE wanted to keep their options open with Balor and they had them at Raw last night but a very late change in plans has Balor going on to SummerSlam to face for the title.

- Sasha Banks was originally scheduled to win the WWE Women’s Championship at Summerslam but it was floated to have the title change on the first episode of the “new era” of Raw. Both Banks and Charlotte were praised for their work and are highly respected in the back.

- Nia Jax busted open Britt Baker, the local call-in talent, in her Raw debut. It wasn’t seen as a big deal as it was more or less chalked up to nerves.

- WWE decided to turn Cesaro’s shoot into a work in hopes of heating him up on Raw.

- There was some second-guessing of Draft picks over the weekend, we’re told. Two names mentioned to us that many feel should have been swapped are Randy Orton and Kevin Owens. It’s unknown if they’ll switch anytime soon.

- John Cena, AJ Styles and WWE Champion Dean Ambrose worked the dark match main event at Raw even though they are Smackdown talent. This was because they were already rowing together and advertised for the show prior to the draft.
