Cody Rhodes & Wife

- Cody Rhodes’s departure from WWE has gotten nasty. This is a situation where it looked like it was going to end amicably and the two parties would work together again in the future. When Cody came to terms on his release, his goal was to hit the independent circuit and prove himself as a big star. Rhodes wanted to show WWE they missed the boat on in both in terms of a superior wrestler and as a charismatic character. WWE wasn’t offering him a large contract extension, as they were low-balling him anyway, so he didn’t have much to lose. Rhodes kept the lines of communication open, even informing them of an offer that TNA Wrestling sent him. However, he was told he couldn’t use the Rhodes name in TNA. This set Cody off as he felt he was going above and beyond to keep the line of communication open and they didn’t respond with an alternative, other than he was not allowed to use the name.

- Paul Heyman was recently asked by WWE if he would be interested in expanding his off air role. It’s believed that Vince McMahon wants Heyman’s opinions on certain angles and may feel he needs another “wrestling mind” that knows how to think outside of the box.

- The plan as of Friday morning was to put the WWE Championship on AJ Styles at Backlash on Sunday.

- WWE was reportedly working with Paige on her release when she retained legal council. Now, things are expected to be more complicated but all signs are pointing towards her being finished with WWE, barring a major last minute change. WWE announced the departure of Alberto Del Rio on Friday, something we told you were going to do at the beginning of the week.
